Is Frontier Stalling Thargoid Content till E3 or PS4 Release?

'real players'.

Sheesh.

Thankfully I held back on repping your Angry Frank reference, so gave it on this one. Last time I checked I was real and play mostly in solo.

On topic whilst I'm here, gone past caring if or when they turn up now. Its become like reading War and Peace on a slow boat to China.

I do however enjoy the trailers, which should come with a large warning of hype along with it.

Lots of people think they should have free icecream, too...

Difference is we already paid for Horizons and an ice-cream seller gives an ice-cream directly to the customer after ordering. Ice-cream sellers don't tease it, because they'd lose customers.

Frontier has teased Thargoids for years and years and years, yawn. That scripted encounter with a Thargoid was cool a few times, not anymore. it's old and boring. [blah] Because it's the same scripted sequence over and over and over again.

Great game design guys. Did it not evoke the idea to add more than 1 scripted encounter to make it less boring? Better yet, make the event dynamic and unpredictable. Did that not fit in the development budget?

Said game designer wonders why they were nominated, not awarded, for Best Evolving Game Design award. I hope a game designer of Frontier reads this to know how awesome their game design is *sarcasm.

One of the Devs said that Thargoids would be later than most people think... shame.

We haven't had new things pertaining the Thargoids in a long time. Yet they released this cool trailer with an alien base, crashed ship.
Lots of people think the Thargoid content should be released a lot faster.

Lots of people think lots of things.
Most of the time it's born out of ignorance about developing a huge, high profile spacesim project like this.
I think that if FD could, they would.

I am not lots of people, but I think that we should let FD take the time they feel is needed to create all this new stuff.
The only thing I know for sure is that that alien ship looked and sounded and behaved simply awesome.
If that is an indication about what the rest of that stuff is going to be like then I am very happy.

FDEV say that the Thargoids will be triggered by player activity.
Which now much like the fabled Generation/Megaships only appearing after they were added to the patch, is obviously a huge lie!

So yes, I fully believe they are holding back the only interesting content they currently have to hand, to be realised just when the PS4 buyers are ripe for exploiting.

The coming fixes patch might delay things because there is A LOT to be fixed.

Sure if you play in solo, group or just enjoy mind numbing repetitive game play, these issues might not be obvious.
To the real players who play in Open, these fixes are way way way overdue.

'real players'? Grow up dude ^

I actually couldnt care less when they appear because they been hyping them fer so long that its bound to fall flat on its face. How exactly does one fight them in the current state? They leave with not even enough juice to run a usb night light, how exactly do players intend fighting, or even running away from that? The mechanics simply do not exist...cue a future grindfest fer some 'alien reverse engineered' nonsense which will undoubtedly take months fer mere mortal 'real players' to get...years fer all those who are just pretending to play.

Its their last ace up the sleeve content...blowing off both barrels of the ps4 release and the hemaroid inducing thargoids would be gaming suicide. Not expecting to see more than glowing flowers and hyperdictions until next year at least...maybe longer at the pace frontier normally do stuff ^

I agree! ...... I all honesty i am done with half finished features i think are bare bones and hope to be fleshed out in the future..... esp when releasing like this makes it harder to put right in the future.

so given the choice i would rather wait an extra - 6 months or so and get it done right, with FD slipping in a few little teasers like the current hyperdictions to keep it interesting.

if it gets too much, simply put the game down and come back later... its kind of what i am doing - still playing but fairly infrequently now.

Let's just hope once the Thargoids can be fought in-game there wont be videos of all the uber-engineered Corvettes blowing them up left and right.

That would just be lame if all it takes to kill a Thargoid vessel would be one uber-engineered ship instead of a wing or at least some thinking.

What players do you mean? The "real players" who have paid for the solo in the kickstarter and have only made this game possible, or self-titled hooligans and sociopaths?[wacko]

I'm so tired of waiting I've plugged my ps4 back in to check out the no man's sky updates.

It's that bad...

Oddly enough I, too, fired that up again recently. Cleared my save and started from scratch playing the first of the four play modes (the one that's effectively the same as the first game had).

Hmmm.

They've made some bits harder (you don't get blueprints everywhere, just from certain places), there's an additional currency as well as credits that you use to buy blueprints, and I really, reallydon't like the fact that you now have to repair cargo slots on your new spacecraft if it's a crashed one you've appropriated. And it costs more and more for each slot repaired.

Yes, because having an uber-engineered ship that can't ever win would be universally welcomed by all on these forums, right? Right?

I wouldn't be mad if this was the case, it makes sense.

You want to show up at conventions with something new and interesting to show, and Thargoids would be a good thing to keep secret untill you reveal it at something like E3.

Apologies if ninja'd but just an observation - no PS4 logo on that vid.

E3 2017 is Tuesday, 13 June till Friday, 16 June.

The PlayStation 4 release is on 27 June.

I am curious to see how FD is going implement a new alien race that is challenging enough for experienced players and not so hard that new players throw up their hands and say, "Forget this!"

Also, I wonder if maybe the Pvp crowd will find something in all of this to rally alongside new, inexperienced and under powered players? Increased (and spontaneous) coop play when the aliens attack humans?

For myself, I am going into the crazy season at work and my spare time to see what's going on in the ED universe is going to be limited to these forums.

But I will keep tabs on this and blow the dust off my Ps4.....

The aliens have taken so long to arrive that no one gives a *@!- whether they come or not any more.

Anyone remember when the first actual encounter with the flower ship happened?

Slowly, we find out about a crashed alien ship.
Later, a second ship, with UA's around it.
Eventually, a third with both UA's and our own ships crashed around it. With gash marks in the hull.

It was the LONGEST time before the first hyperdiction happened.
Out of the blue. When no one expected it.

Sometimes, it's more interesting to be lulled into a false sense of complacency before someone lowers the boom.

Patience, young padwan. There will be plenty of time for war, when, and if, it comes to that.

Oh is that how it works now. As if salvaging ships wasn't unrewarding and tedious enough. It should be one of the main gameplay features.

On the whole they've added quiet allot to new things to do i'm looking forward to exploring, like surface vehicles, bases, freighters, new upgrades, farming valuable plants, I like the look of the auto mining modules.

It looks MUCH better on PC with some mods installed (tempted)

I'm still rooting for them to make it a good game, I think it's heading in the right direction.

It'll tide me over till 2.4 anyway.
