Hardware & Technical New joystick from Thrustmaster

..i'd been suggesting since the alt.fan.elite days that Frontier should commission a dedicated controller for E4... shame ED has completely tanked for me, not even worth plugging in a clunky great joystick if i'm not allowed to fly my own ship, and at the end of the day, the way i see it we're ultimately only interacting with a computer that's simply running a spacey game - unless wearing a VR headset, the best haptic input method has converged on mouse and keys. It was more than sufficient for FE2 and FFE, so that's all i use now, on the rare occasions i fire up ED for a half hour or so..

Still, the type of controller i'd envisaged for E4 wasn't so much a stick as a complete console, possibly including pedals, that could be replicated in-game as a general-purpose 'astrogation console' (the term used in the original Elite), complete with a faithful Beeb keyboard and OLED scanner.. would defo be cool, but not cheap...

Anyone tried pressure sensors mods or x65f any differences ?

I've been using the Saitek x65f since Elite's first closed alpha — I originally bought it because it was close to the Warthog in raw number of POV Hat as well their locations.

I bought a Thrustmaster 16000m FCS (stick+throttle) a couple of weeks ago, which was a massive disappointment. While the throttle is okay, the stick lacks POV Hats and the single one that is there, is not in an optimal position. The stick also lacks a pinky switch (highly recommended for quick FA-OFF toggle), which now means my pinky is deadweight.

I went back to my x65f after two days.

When all the hype was going around on the forum here about the new TM stick (Christmas?) I took a look at it and quickly realized that (for me) it was a horrible stick with regard to the lack of functionality/missing controls. Stuck with my x52 Pro until I could upgrade to the Warthog setup.

The Warthog is also a much better hotas for high-fidelity sims, which I also play.

One of the main reasons I haven't bought a Warthog to begin with (longtime DCS player myself), is the lack of analog axes for strafing.
That's one thing I gotta praise the 16000m throttle for — The analog axes on the throttle are great.

I just have the problem that my x65f cannot be used on its own. (It requires the x65f throttle to be plugged in as well.)
