PS4/PS4 Pro info?

As a PS4 Commander who has pre-ordered...

What in the actual %$@# is going on? I'm very excited to join you guys on the 27th but the silence has been DEAFENING about the PS4 version. Sitting here with my new 4K Sammy with my fingers crossed that I don't end up having to fight Sony for a refund on the 27th when I get home from work.

If...IF....all goes well I am entirely confident that the PS4 version will mirror performance comparisons of virtually every other console multi-plat game since the next gen's launched. Safe to assume a 20-30% performance improvement from Xbox One to PS4 (base versions.)

In a couple of the threads the Moderators (or maybe even Frontier staff) were surprised to learn that the base PS4 supports HDR out, in addition to the Pro. This is a concern as from the YouTube videos of this game it would be gorgeous. Here's to being cautiously optimistic.

I noticed that too. I'm trying to read PS4-realted threads, and it's all vile rage and hatred and outright entitlement issues re: FDEV. They seemingly lack all critical perspective, and by that I mean, PS4 players don't even have Elite: Dangerous yet. And yet all I see are these bizarre temper tantrums that, lacking context, seem really really off-topic.

I mean, just coming in, fresh off the passenger transport, it seems like there's a lot of, um, anger about (again, I don't have the context - I don't know what FDEV did to players to cause them to turn into raging lunatics). I'm actually telling people over at GameFAQs to head over here to avoid the <censored>-storm of idiocy that often erupts on GameFAQs with every video game release (these little communities form, comprised of excited people eager to play; they talk and theorize for a few months, get to be friends, and then the game releases, and on Day 1, the pleasant little forum is suddenly overloaded with new players filled with rage or hatred). But anyway, now I'm starting to regret urging the GameFAQs PS4 ED community over this way. It certainly hasn't been pleasant for me trying to wade through all the entitlement and anger I see around here. :(

Game comes out in 2 weeks and the lack of details for the PS4 and pro is rediculous . Why would I want to buy a game that developers refuse to give info on?? Do u want to buy a car blind? With no details except that it will support your engine but no details past that , it works great on your buddies mustang ,but who knows how it will work for u

Wow, way to generalise a whole bunch of people. Frontier have released pretty much nothing since the FAQ so I there's pretty much no definitive information we've been able to glean. People come here mainly to make friends and relieve the tension of waiting for a game most have been waiting for for months, if not longer.

I went to the E3 experience last night with hopes of seeing a surprise Elite Dangerous with VR support in Sony's showcase. It was what I felt was the only reason Elite would make it in the show. Sony is pushing VR as much as possible. I was sad nothing was shown and the FD could not make PSVR work on its game. All this anger over game specs has the feelings of mutiny on the ship. 2 weeks before launch and all I can say is knowing the specs will not change what they are! I don't care 30 or 60 FPS 1080P or 4K. I have the game pre-ordered and will be overwhelmingly Happy to get to do so on launch day.

Take a deep breath and watch some of Edward Louis (super nice guy) new CG adventures with the Therogods leading into 2.4.

I did not go to E3 the E3 experience was a live broadcast in theaters done by Sony. It the same show you could live stream but on the big screen and seen with a bunch of other PlayStation owners. Sorry I can not hit up the FD booth and try to pick on any good new or slips of the tongue. I would have missed the Sony show and camped out the FD booth all night if I was there.

Hi Gary,

i think it is fair to say, that everybody expected some Information regarding the PS4 Version at the E3. However, FDev did not mention the PS4 Version, which is available as preorder since weeks, and the actual launch is only two weeks away.

This seems to be a missed oppertunity to feature the release on a new Platform, even more so, when the FAQ (https://support.frontier.co.uk/kb/faq.php?id=365) says:

However, Xbox One X was announced to get a 4K Support via patch.

With all given respect, i'm sorry to say, that this does not give a feeling of commitment to the platform.

Does FDev expect the players to find out the differences between PS4 and PS4Pro on launchday themselves ? (and maybe any differences across the console platforms).

I think it is safe to say (just look at the PS4-Forums here), that your playerbase wants and needs some more information, even more so.

And no, i'm not "sour", i own the game already on PC, Xbox and maybe i go and get it for the PS4Pro also.

Long story short: When will we get anymore information ? Or is the quote above from the FAQ obsolete ?

(Should mention that statement is based on absolutely nothing! 😉)

No, definitely not just you stormy.

I've been waiting for the promised "information in the build up to launch" since December.

All we got was that training mission session at pax. Besides that we got nothing. Zero. Nada!

FDEV, don't tell me to be excited to give new information in the build up to launch of you don't intend to follow up on it.

I do realize I sound frustrated, because well... That's what I am after six months being told information is coming "soon".

I'm ready to dive in, and sure to love the game, but at this point I'm very disappointed with FDEV'S communication.

Pretty much only me who's not salty I think. But you know my feelings on that and I've already been mean to you today so I'll do my best to get worked up today.
