Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 10 - The Canonn

If there will be no hints to help find the new stuff, that means, that it it will be not very hard to find. FD needs the story/events to progress, so I bet on already explored or obvious locations - Pleiades, Witch Head or other nebulae near the Bubble. And there's the locked Col 70 sector too. There is no point to place those things in some very distant (except Colonia) and not interesting locations.

On the other note, I was reviewing the videos from the Thargoid witchspace interdictions. The sequence when the flower ship is probing our vessels with its "tentacles" is very interesting, when you compare it to the damage done to the Federation ships. On their hull, there are clearly visible marks in shape of a curved lines. Does this ring a bell?

The way I see it: Flower ship disables a vessel (Farragut), starts probing it with tentacle like things, finds something and kills with it's "tentacles". Maybe it's only a matter of an amount of energy involved. Low levels of energy it's a scanner/probe, higher level of energy and it's a weapon.

So, what are the community's best bets for the location of Alien Breeding Grounds (a nursery?) other than the permit-locked HIP 22460?

Ultimately every barnacle site? :9 (...or they are just extraction/refinery facilities) :7

Another question, which I will put in spoiler tags, since it's something from one of the E3 reports, rather than current in-game occurences:

So there will be a tiny vessel called a "scavenger"... Does that mean we will be able to purchase remote drones, that we can send (EDIT: ...to investigate..) places? (EDIT2: ...and will they have controller modules as bulky as limpet drones do? :p)

EDIT:
Shady organisation doesn't tie in with the Rift though.

Oh, just don't bring bloody Maven Blackbriar here, though. :p (Lame Skyrim reference)

Do we have any word from FD, saying if those sites could be found in the current build or not? A confirmation would help getting motivated...

We have been talking about it in the last couple days:

not "official" but there's some subtle hint from Ed

And Sandro Sammarco says here that these structures are (or will be soon with the incoming update?) in game BEFORE 2.4

Would it kill them to say we can find it now rather than having to wait for them to unlock HIP 22460 which they'll do before 2.4 launches?

I think it depends on what you are expecting to find in the game now.

The underground network of caves that the press were shown in the private screening: I don't think so.

I think the thing that we saw in the teaser a while ago (that's on the end of that Sandy interview) is the entrance, so: I don't think so.

Now I'm certainly not saying that they won't be in before 2.4 because they've already said multiple times that there are more things coming in 2.3, Ed even said it in the livestream we did. Personally I think they added a few other related things when they activated the barnacle encounters, we've seen the new larger ?fauna? that's been discovered and the distress call was obviously sat there waiting to be activated. There's a chance that more things will be added with 2.3.10, but I think the base (for want of a better word) will be in 2.4.

Neither Braben nor Sammarco would comment on what it was that I was looking at, only to say that when these structures are added into the game they won’t be giving any hints as to where they are among Elite’s 400 billion star systems. It will be up to the players to find them on their own.

Sandro says in the above vid that they will be in before 2.4, and my quote says "when" - on that basis I'm saying they are not in yet, and may be coming with the next update ;)

The very significant issue with this theory is that even the densest nebulae aren't very dense at all.

Another issue is stellar winds tend to keep interstellar particles out of a system.

True, but for the Thargoids - who can mould Witchspace like putty - Interstellar travel and, indeed, existing between the stars, is trivial ;)

If there is something similar to this mythical nursery from the video to be found already, then there's already a contingency story in-place to lead us there in the event that we don't find it.

I went to the Thargoid Aftermath yesterday and thought 'how long has it been there?', coming to the conclusion that it's been there for possibly weeks, if not months: but in a place where it was exceedingly unlikely that it would be found.

If, however, it had been found then it would have caused an absolute storm, and we would have created all the theories and explanations for what it was.

The E3 experience was a Plan B for if we didn't.

Think about it: there's nothing in the content at that site which mentions Palin or any of the other story we were given.

So I think the same is true for anything else that's crucial to the lead-in for 2.4; the question is whether we can find it (if there).

I say we kidnap Palin and get him to cough up - he's on the inside ;)

Just getting in now for intellectual property purposes... Jmanis Catharg's patented TharGone™ is the only scientifically proven* way to keep those pesky Thargoids away.

* Employed in eight different Thargoid encounters, each time the Thargoid jumped away... QED!

May the records show, for the benefit of any future legal disputes, that JManis is sole owner of all IP relating to, inferred by, and developed from our future anti-Thargoid super-weapon.

I assume you will be open to negotiations with the Canonn to secure favourable rates for supplying our fleets with as much as we need?

I'm with you with this, it's a logical conclusion, crossing the data we have.
May I suggest a look at Merope 5C after next patch's launch? ;)
Beta will end on monday, so the launch could be the next day(s).

At 2.05 I can't really understand what he says since I'm no english native speaker, but the youtube translator subbed it as "event for player to discover".

So I thought that some hints would be given through a live event with Ed Lewis, like those at E3...

However if any of FD team says thats those structures are already there and could be found with current state of our knowledge, I'll be glad to give some of my time to search on planets.
Don't know if there is already some kind of organised search...
