Youtuber Kornelius Briedis seems to have had it with Fdevs

What a complete & utter load of garbage. Where is your evidence for your claim? Funny, too, 'cause half the player base complain that FDev are too absent. Seems they can't win either way

My post had nothing to do about how vocal or non vocal FD is. It has to do with their "we know best" mentality. The player base is, and has been, in outrage. Everyone from explorers to PvPers have legitimate gripes about very easy fixes.

Minimal explorer content. Beigeification. Inexplicable disappearance of engineering materials. Combat logging. God roll gate etc etc etc. The list is astounding.

FD are helicopter parents because they're seemingly terrified of any change. They're set it their ways. They fine comb everything and get out their magnifying glass, all without seeing the big picture. They're scared to upset anyone, and upsetting everyone in the process.

Sorry if this is also too "entitled".

It is of no consequence to me if anyone else likes the game or not, so....feel free to care if you want, makes no difference to me.

And before anyone brings it up, yes, my position is still valid even if no one else in the world likes the game and FD announces that the servers are being shutdown and I can never play again.

I have no other games that I've played for more than I have this one, and I have paid less for this than all but one or two of the others that I have. We play this game at the whim of FD and other factors beyond our control, which people seem to forget sometimes.

Sorry, but your post doesn't prove your initial point at all. They explained what happened with the beige planets (trying too hard to be realistic), & they have explained their positions over combat logging (hard to prove) & god rolls (the exploit was shut down as soon as they knew of it), & exploration is one of the areas they mentioned in relation to core gameplay enhanchements. Which all disprove your assertion of "helicopter parenting" or "fear of change". If anything, they're far too willing to change things in response to the loud cries of the self entitled whiner brigade (2.1 AI, massive boost to material outputs, reduced requirements for engineer upgrades.....to name just a few).

So a youtuber stops playing ED and FD needs to do a one eighty because he doesn't like it anymore?........okaaay?!?

I don't bash ED / FD since I enjoy this game by changing my job title when something becomes repetitive or boring.

That said, I didn't watch the video, but sometimes all it takes is one really clear voice with excellent critical thinking skills and the most excellent CONSTRUCTIVE criticism to do that. If he had those skills and used them, then it was time well-spent. Again, I didn't watch it myself so I'm just tossing out my 2¢.

It has to do with their "we know best" mentality.

FD doesn't have that attitude though. Pretty much every patch since 1.2 has had them adjusting things and adding things players have requested. They are pretty much going to devote a whole season to this now. That would be the opposite of the "we know best" attitude.

The reason the changes haven't happened fast is that most of the patches were being worked on simultaneously by different groups. So it was better for them to finish those first and then go back.

For them to actually do it.

We get it, you're a fanboy and FD can do no wrong.

Wrong on both counts, hater. I love the game, but I have a number of issues with it at present-not least the excessive focus on combat in 2.3....& I hope they fix the issues in their return to core gameplay post 2.4. What I do know, though, is that in the eyes of haters like you, FDev can do no RIGHT.

Oh look, whiners whining about other people whining.....how very Meta!

Call me a "whiner" all you want man but some of us have been active on this forum since the beta days and remember all the elements of the DDF that are still yet to be implemented.

I won't bother going into the masses of gameplay features many expected to be in the release and were not.

The vertical slice theory -for instance- now is a distant and pretty sad memory....i don't recognise your name -apart from the last few months- so you probably do not even know what that is i assume /sigh

I for one really did believe that the core mechanics of the game would be vastly improved upon immediately after release. To get all excited that FD are finally addressing what most kickstarters have been asking for since day 1 makes me a bit sad.

ED release was rushed and many of us at the time worried about what that meant....it's now very obvious that an extra 6 months to a year would have been great for the core gameplay.

Either way to "whine" about the core mechanics and ask FD to address the issues some of us have been wondering about for 2 years + now is not too much to ask is it really?

After all it was us kickstarters that got the project off the ground in the first place! It would be great if we could express ourselves without random/new players making our complaints out to be some kind of a problem...

Its the ED forum and that's one of the major points in it even existing afterall.

I've been on these forums for about 2.5 years, & have been following the game for 3 years-after having been a fan of Elite since 1984. So what is your *actual* point? The stuff in the DDF is a wishlist, as many of my kickstarter friends seem to understand.....a shame you don't seem to get it.

Fair enough. I'm excited to see the core enhancements they're going to bring. But given their history, no one should be getting their hopes up. I think we can pretty much rest assured that there's no grand revolution of mechanics being dropped on 2.4. Probably just a text wall of minor tweaks in 1000 different places and add some aliens and more grind. WHICH IS NOT WHAT THE PLAYERS WANT

BTW, release wasn't rushed. If you really are a kickstarter, then you'd know that an iterative development was always the plan. Its certainly something I understood from reading all those Dev Diaries & Newsletters way back in early 2014.

Hater lol.. you sure your not from the SC forum.

Actually I think ED is one of the greatest games ever but it still has done very deep flaws, every game has flaws but these flaws should have been fixed a long time ago.
Also, as proven by the recent engineer-gate, FD has no problem with ignoring its player base.

It was most definitely rushed as wings was supposed to be in on launch but the game "had to be released on time" so they promised to get wings in as the first point update...you would remember that if you were active at the time.

Either way this is not about some silly argument between me and you...

How about you let people express themselves and their concerns about the game on the official forums rather than trying to shut everyone down that does not agree with you?

Hey, you're the one who started throwing around juvenile epithets. Why shouldn't I throw it back in your face?

Yeah, so? They also had hopes for an offline mode (which is what I really wanted). Still, can't always get what you want.....but I don't waste time whining about it.
