FDev, you just upset a *lot* of people.

Cheaters are upset? Ohhhhhhhhhh. So cute!

Today PvP Community probably died. Which is bad. But it was their bad to use it. So that is it.

Don't worry, this will hit them in the wallets for sure. They don't do anything about combat loggers. They don't do anything about people who used cheats in open play PvP (I still see people in open I know 100% used to use shield hacks) but people use an exploit to lessen the garbage engineer grind and they finally decide this is the time to take a stand?

Just about everyone I have talked to is walking away from the game now. This will hurt everyone, including the non-PvP crowd.

Enjoy the emptiness of open play because a large portion of the players who frequent open are quitting.

The kind of player that walks away from the game because they got their wrists lightly slapped for cheating is not the kind of player I want to play with. Good riddance. Other games would have permabanned them.

Given that some level of punitive result was warranted, not just the restorative action of eliminating the specific mods that were cheated I think FD showed remarkable restraint. You cheat a mod, you get caught and you lose the cheated mod and every other one made with the same blueprint, whether cheated or not. Seems legit, if a bit light.

If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.

There are only a very few reasons to walk away after this...

You can't play "competitively" without cheating. Fair enough, Git gud or git gone.
You are worried that now FD have marked your card as a "known cheat" they'll catch all the other stuff you get up to. Equally fair enough, don't let the airlock door hit you in the remlock on the way out...

Your tears are positively delicious and I wonder if FD will lend me that singularity at SagA* to make this tiny violin even smaller.

One OP saying a lot of people will be upset, 10 pages of posts proving the opposite.

I've going to by a new Paint Job, just so celebrate.

I second that. Anyone pleased with frontier to setting the game straighter go buy a Paint Pack to show them a little appreciation (Even though i seriously doubt ED is bleeding anything but players that like to cheat).

See you in open

Never used the exploit, in fact, to this day, I am not even sure how it was achieved! Cheats never prosper and all that, so sympathy is somewhere in the dictionary between "Sucks" and "Syphilis" as far as I am concerned. You reap what you sow peeps!

No I am not playing it down, I am correcting a mistaken belief that these modules are impossible to obtain with grade 5 materials. That is patently incorrect. What I have just said is the time perspective is where it's been incredibly unfair; and that's specifically what the developer has just stated and addressed.

I have no problem with corrective actions. But I have a big problem with people peddling garbage. So are you peddling garbage? Because it looks like you absolutely are. Engineering is purely chance. It's RNG. It's possible to get an insane roll on the first roll. However to get a lot of insane rolls, requires time and the materials.

Again, read what the Developer has written. I have.

Yes I'm aware of the maths I followed the thread discussing all that in the engineers section. Normal use does allow some god-mods but when you have them on all mods on the ship; that is what is almost impossible to do normally. Each of these mods with perfect primary, excellent secondary and tertiary stats is a 1 in 5000 chance, so while I agree they are possible via rng, a ship full is very, very unlikely and a fleet full nigh on impossible.

I also want to say, that at this moment not even one player that i know for sure was not exploiting enginers - get the message. Not even one.

However where are still some "innocent" players in pvp groups who got it.

Don't believe anyone.

That sounds like the very definition of a time-sink dodge.

It was a time sink dodge; and we know how frontier reacts to time sink dodging. Unless that's CL'ing, in which case as you were - because you know everyone has terrible internet, always. I wonder how much high-fiving there would be if serial offenders were punished for abusing CL'ing? Don't be silly kofeyh.

Lynch mobs are fascinating things.

I like it!

Not disagreeing, hey. Just clarifying, as your take on the situation isn't shared by a lot of people who believe the modifications in this case actually break the limits on blueprints. That's overselling it a bit. I personally think frontier should probably have sorted this out, quickly and quietly after it was first reported, but then hindsight is pretty good like that. Instead, it festered and grew a life of it's own and provided an avenue for a lot of hate.

That bit? I reckon we could do with a little less of that. YMMV. As you were. :)

Dunno about the rest of the players, but from me, quite a bit. I play clean, I don't CL or exploit even when the exploit isn't considered to rise to the level of "cheating" by FD.

Don't worry about those other guys, they'll get theirs eventually just like the engineer cheats just did.
