Maybe edit you first post with an addition that explains why and how you "jumped the gun".
A lot of people probably reply to your original post without reading your explanation. Your original post is a bit misleading, clarifying it with an edit will help a lot (I guess/hope).

I'm perfectly aware that you didn't use the exploit, i'm sure most in here are.
It's a very emotional topic, and many have been hoping and waiting for FD to take action on it.
And now that they have, all those piled up emotions sort of discharge like a lightning.
There's nothing wrong with your OP, regardless of that i mostly disagree with it, but it came perhaps a bit too early.
Discussing the manner and timing in which FD handled this will perhaps be easier once that emotional storm has blown by and some time has passed.

I'm expecting a whole heap of political comments. You know the ones like "that's not what I really said" or "I know you think you understand what you though I meant..." and so on, anything to prove that they didn't say what they really did.

Christ, I go away for a bit for some ship massacring and come back to find the thread 15 pages long and a bunch of posts saying "WELL YEAH CUZ THEY CHEATED" and apparently calling me a cheater, despite an explicit statement by me saying it's a good thing I didn't cheat.
No shnikies they cheated, geniuses. I don't much like cheaters any more than you guys do. Though to be fair I did kind of go straight to the forums after seeing initial reports because in my mind I'm thinking "Well these god rolls are suspect, and if mine even approaches those the month I spent grinding for my FAS to be fully engineered was all for nothing."
I still think it was handled rather clumsily though... and the loss of just a G5 dirty drive would make anyone ragequit.
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and accept that you haven't exploited this cheat. However, surely the threads and threads full of complaints of any kind of exploits in this game should have warned you that a successful FD counter to the most egregious exploit would go down extremely well with the residents? Talk about misjudging the mood!
No, this wasn't handled clumsily. It was handled well - and the miscreants have gotten off lightly. I'm sure many of us would have happily seen them reduced to a Noob Sidey and 1000 credits, and given a warning that any further cheating would result in their account being closed. So some have been missed? Well, I suspect that they'll get picked up in the longer term. Maybe a few will escape the net; that's life. But you won't get any takers for your sympathy vote for the cheaters.

Well, from the Fdev update I understand they are not able to track the modules that were engineered by cheating, only the blueprint that was used for cheating.
Thus they removed all the modifications done with the blueprint that was used for cheating.
Clumsy or not, I think this is better than not doing anything.
That's the risk you take when you cheat.

If hauling poo was an actual exploit, then I agree...but...many of the money making schemes werent exploits at all. At no point did FD ever label them as such, that myth only started with players who didnt like them but if FD didnt confirm their accusations, then thats all they were...accusations.
In saying that, FD are free to scan my account any which way they want because I never ever used anything that even looked like an exploit, so punish away...not my problem why should I care?
I've seen people have their accounts banned for stuff like this in games. Frankly, if you can still log in and play I'd consider yourselves lucky and suck it up.
As for people who 'only tried it once just to see' I have no words to describe how daft someone has to be to read about an exploit which has already been reported to FDev and think 'oh yeah that sounds like something I should be doing'.
If any of my stuff is missing then yes they will have screwed up because I never used this exploit, didn't even know about it until the forum post. Otherwise, I see no screw-up here at all.

Yeah, I missed it. That's why I'd only got blaze down as a possible exploiter instead of a confirmed one (so thanks for the clarification there for people like me that sometimes only read half a post
). So, lots = 1, based on this thread so far? Couldn't find much more on Reddit, either. No, I don't know why I bothered looking either...

Well, I am so far quite happy about what they did. However, while, resetting a lot of modules I know for a fact that a lot of players out there with exploited modules still sit on parts of their collection. I hope Frontier have another look at the cheaters and reset more modules.
