FDev, you just upset a *lot* of people.

I don't think so, because a lot of people are using ways to avoid RNG wall in this game.
This time, punishment is falling.
But, how would react the player base if Frontier decided to use the same kind of punishment for those who were identifyed as using an exploit to make easy money (I think about Robigo, Ceos/Sothis, 17 Draco, Quince, and so) ?
Why people are trying to avoid this too ?
AFAIK, it is considered an exploit by Frontier, isn't it ?

If you want to avoid RNG don't play a game where most of the content is procedurally generated. Problem solved!

No one cares dude. You cheat you pay. If it was too much too bad. You guys needed being made an example of. If it was me I'd have stopped your ability mod anything.
Are you saying that I'm a cheater ?
Sorry to say but you are wrong. I'm mostly an explorer and I never used that kind of . Keep your fast judgement for you. Thanks.

Procedural generation are not RNG.
RNG is a part of procedural generation. But procedural generation is more than RNG.
In fact, procedural generation is a good way to control RNG in the way that fit to your design.

I'm not justifying cheating at all !

Sorry if I have misinterpreted this statement made by you:

I think if there were less RNG, IN THAT PARTICULARY CASE, then ppl didn't tryed to find ways to avoid it.

Care to elaborate on that? It's just that to me it looks like you're saying (that's my interpretation): "I don't like the RNG associated with Engineers, so it's OK to use the exploit."

Unless you mean "If not for the RNG, people wouldn't use the exploit.", which means you're blaming the developers for the fact that some people cheat in the game.

I apologise if that's not what you meant, but that's how I read your post. Feel free to explain/correct me.

Nope. See the first Dev post earlier in this thread. Those areas are highly unusual, but working as intended for the time being.

Sorry I didn't read 20 pages there I'm still in coffee and contemplation mode here.

If you didn't cheat good! Statement redacted as far as you are concerned. However I do feel that way.

Also my RNG statement still stands. This is coming from who just spent a week gathering materials for 100 rolls for increased FSD range. Which ended in a god roll for my Corvette.

The end result was rewarding.

Totally disagree with TS. This is fantastic. I think it will keep way more people around.

I'm AMAZED they were able to remove only modules from cheaters. IMO save wiping is easier and more appropriate. But I'm fin with killing he cheated modules.

…, I still have no idea what happened and how it exactly worked.

… - is there the slightest possibility that somebody (me, for example) incidentally used it and now lost the engineer upgrades?

The exploit worked by interrupting a G1 roll just at the right time and then do a G5 roll.

The chance of doing that accidentally is extremely low.

Exploiters are upset they've got caught.

Go cry me a river!

Congratulations Frontier on reversing the engineering modules obtained by nothing more than cheating.

That's probably what a part of that cheaters thought, and did.

Binary thinking once again.
I just wanted to say that if peoples are trying to avoid this RNG wall, it could also be a sign that there is something in that game mecanic that could deserve a particular attention to Frontier.
I'm not blaming Frontier about the fact that some people are cheating (even if, in this particular case, everyone well informed knew the existence of this cheat since a year at least). I just try to say that if some people are trying to avoid a game mecanic, it could probably is because that game mecanic could be improved. That's all.

I'm not trying to justifying cheaters. I'm not trying to say that RNG must get out of the game in a whole. I just trying to say that there is probably something wrong here and the fact there is cheating here could also be a sign for Frontier that this particular RNG wall must have their attention once again.

I hope I was clear. It is not simple for me because I'm not english native, I'm french, and I try to do my best to be well understood.

Thanks for the explanation, it makes sense now :)

I agree the RNG factor is a bit excessive in some parts of the game - hopefully we'll see balance passes and improvements in this area as part of post 2/4 fixes. But that's going into offtopic for this thread now.

To be honnest, it was sure since Engineers update went live, that some players (mostly the ones who are on a highly competitive play style, like some particular PvP groups) would try to avoid RNG. I'm not surprised at all that it is the case, but I'm surprised that Frontier took about one year to open their eyes on that problem.

Since I'm not allowed to sing in Bran's thread [sad] I'll depart some wisdom from the great Hank Williams.

Your cheatin' heart
Will make you weep
You'll cry and cry
And try to sleep
But sleep won't come
The whole night through
Your cheatin' heart will tell on you...

When tears come down
Like falling rain
You'll toss around
And call it lame
You'll walk the floor
The way I do
Your cheatin' heart will tell on you...

Your cheatin' heart
Will pine some day
And crave the love
You threw away
The time will come
When you'll be blue
Your cheatin' heart will tell on you...

When tears come down
Like falling rain
You'll toss around
And call it lame
You'll walk the floor
The way I do
Your cheatin' heart will tell on you...

Some people, in their opinion. Just because some people don't like the way something is done does not mean it should be changed!

But as I said before, the engineers discussion is held elsewhere.
