FDev, you just upset a *lot* of people.

Here's some pro tips to some of the PVP'ers that cheated and haven't got the man bits to post here for the foreseeable :-

If I were you I would avoid saying any of the following in future posts here, (or on Reddit btw, we can read there y'know),as you have zero traction or credibility on the following :-

'Git gud' (you weren't that good yourself though were you?)
'Cowards' (yes, yes you are)
'Safe space' (like cheat ships/wings you mean?)
'Easy mode' (see above)
'cheaters' (pot meet kettle)
'hiding in solo/pg' (who's hiding now?)
'man up' (we did, you didn't)
'pretend space pixels' (quit threats over pretend modules)
'god rolled' (yeah, good one!)
'crymunity' (given your 'we're quitting, waaah' posts)
'NPC's are brain dead' (they would seem it in a total cheat ship)

Did I miss any?

Well, an image of a crying dog? :)

I'd have though he would be under an obligation not to use the in-game events now the person in question has been exposed as a cheater.

Is it confirmed that Salome's Demise had exploited mods? Seems highly likely, of course.

From what I'm gathering so far, the manner in which you've conducted your exploit punishment have been nothing less than extremely clumsy. Instead of only removing the rolls which were exploited, you've also elected to remove anything that might have been a legitimate roll. What you're literally telling us is "We know you cheated, but since we can't tell which module you cheated to upgrade, we're taking this sledgehammer to everything we think might have been exploited." I'm seeing a lot of people having lost their legitimately upgraded modules... and some performed the exploit once out of curiosity.

You're losing players pulling this stuff, guys. It's bad enough you guys took said sledgehammer to anything that looked suspicious, but according to reddit posts some people still have their exploited modules.

I'm really glad I didn't let my curiosity get the better of me... I probably would have had my FAS wiped from existence if I had from ONE module.

[EDIT] Since some people would rather not actually read the thread and see that I attempted to clarify, I might as well add this in. I jumped the gun and posted this believing that any roll viewed as "suspect" would be targeted. I didn't spend a month dedicated to engineering my FAS in all aspects to have it dedicated over a false positive, you know. But obviously as more information has come out it seems FDev have a way of actually tracking these things, so... I tried admitting to the mistake, but nobody's actually READING the thread.

Y'all really like to resort to immediate derision and vitriol to any opinion you don't like though, do you? What a nice bunch you are.

:p

As the saying goes curiosity killed the cat, the sledge is always effective. People will now think twice about future exploits, well done FD.

The rep ceiling is very frustrating, a great number of you non cheaty types deserve more rep than I'm able to give.

mods, buff rep in circumstances like this in the future please, thanks

FD, please allow multiple reps for this day. Much needed.

Ummm, can't speak for anyone else, but I'm not remotely upset.

Didn't think FD would do anything, so more than pleasantly surprised and pleased.

The operation allegedly was a full success - FD addressed the issue at hand before they would even start.

So if it was a resounding success, made even more impressive by the fact it never actually took place...that or frontier have a psychic on their team...then why are they so salty over this?

What goes around, comes around...its called karma in some parts of the world. Its enough to make me wanna play again actually, and that spark of motivation couldnt have come at a worse time fer me...Im too involved elsewhere to just up and vanish even though its sorta winding down after a miscarriage at birth.

The irony being that even when I do log in, Im about 30kylies out in the a hole of nowhere...this game does weird things to my brain sometimes, but whatever...today is just the day that keeps giving. Gets a big thumbs up and Ill leave it at that fer now...got places to be in other galaxies like andromeda. Bit like arnies big line in the first terminator..."Ill be back"

But rest assured those who do stay silent and stamp their feet and spit their dummies out and rage quit, only to come sulking back over the next week or 3...I have something very fitting to say.

Time to git gud ^

*shrugs*

Either that story event was negotiated beforehand or there was another exploit involved to locate the target. I don't think it was the modules that allowed the kill.

No, it looks like everything was staged. "Certain groups got special invites, and the call for all to participate with equal chances was untruthful". One from the "certain groups" revealed today.

I have to laugh over the whole issue.

After 3 years of being convinced that FD would never do anything, I wouldn't have had any reason not to use the exploit had I known about it and wanted to use it.

Fortunately, I pretty much did all the Engineering I needed/wanted to do some time ago and have plenty of materials inventory on hand if I need to do more. I did all my mods by grinding away to get my "god" rolls.

Just like FD - suck everyone into complacency, then pull the rug out from under them.

I love it

Enjoy the emptiness of open play because a large portion of the players who frequent open are quitting.
On the contrary. I headed over to Maia just now, which is where I've been ganked several times recently by players with absurdly powerful ships - just to see if it was any different. Was it ever!!

I turned up, four pips to shields, ready to high-wake out at the slightest sign of anything.

I kid you not - Obsidian Orbital was absolutely heaving with CMDRs - so much so that I didn't get docking clearance for a minute or two of asking.

Hollow triangles - not a one.

So loads still playing in Open.

I agree - this will probably bring more players into Open, not fewer.
