The $200 Million Maia 1v1 Challenge!

Well, if you're up for taking on an engineered (but mostly PvE) Vette, then count me in :)

It's not a god-mode corvette by any means, rinzler and Harry kicked my butt in a 2v1 fight and they were only flying FGS/clipper.

Will keep an eye out for you in maia...

If I show up in an scb stacked anaconda, will your plasma/rail fdl take that fight? What constitutes running on your end, and does running on your end count as a loss?

My imperial hammer is running feedback cascade, otherwise I would have very little chance of breaking highly engineered shields on the big 3 ships. I may not be able to break a well engineered cutter even with the hammer, but at least I'd know I was beaten by an un-exploited engineered cutter. Think of those cases as my personal reward, then, for not being a cheaty, shortcut taking, min/maxing neckbeard.

As for your second question, once I deploy hardpoints and begin the fight, I won't wake out. If I inadvertently did through some act of god like my cat stepping on the frameship charge button at the exact same time I pass out or something, then yes...running would be counted as a loss.

I've very little PvP experience, but will try and meet up for a battle. I'm curious to see how I'd go (how long I'll last, to be more accurate) in a "fair fight".

What's your time zone, BTW?

I'm curious about the rules of engagement - or are there none?

As an example, is it free-for-all as soon as you load in, or are you going to do a Top Gun-style head-to-head with no shots on the first pass? Ready Check and Go? On 3?

I also don't believe you qualified whether or not Multi-Crew is a valid loadout - both in regards to the pips, and the fighter(s). I suppose it could be implied that your 1v1 challenge disallows Multi-Crew on both sides of the fence, but you might want to qualify it.

If you don't get many takers, I might come play - I would have some conditions that I would prefer, though.

I like what you are doing, in any case.

Congratulations to CMDR Alexander Desoto for being the first participant! Results in the Round 1 video below:

"Fair fight" is the point here. 1. He is a member of SDC. 2. HP stated that the the engineering bug is the least of our problems.

I don't trust any of them.

1. Yes, though this isn't an "official" SDC event. I'm putting up my own cash and they're not allowed to participate in any way.

2. What HP may or may not have teased has perhaps less to do with further combat cheats (there is still a way to exploit premium ammo; I'll make a point to show menu 4 during each recording so you can see I'm not using it even legitimately) and more to do with player groups/politics.

Participate or not, but remember that this is purely consensual PVP and one of the conditions is that you can yield at any time to forfeit. I will, however, fight to the death.

Not to see if I can win but to see how long I can survive

that's the spirit!

@OP i have no ship being a match for your pvp FDL, but if i'm at maia sometimes next week i'll try to get a go, i'll take the challenge for sure, as i like the initiative!

as with buckyball races, i will make a good time (in this case: time spend as well as time to survive, while trying to land some shots) a win in my own books :D

seeing this kind of thread after a long hiatus makes me happy. Used to be a passionate 1v1 player so I might give it a shot with my fdl. Btw are there any restrictions on ship loadouts aka are fully engineered ships allowed or does it have to be good old vanilla pvp ships with default modules ? haha

A few months ago I was at a CG that was swarming with PvPers. I leaving the station and preparing to go into SC when a CMDR in an FdL engaged me, so I cancelled the jump and started returning fire. Suddenly the pilot starts messaging me on comms. He wanted to know if I was "that guy on the official forums that was supportive of PvP" so we ended up talking about the state of the game and the forum community for a bit. After we chatted, he politely asked me if I was ready to get back to the "pew pew."

We had a great duel for the better part of 10 minutes and I was left with a healthy respect for both the CMDR's attitude as well as his ability. That was CMDR Urion of course. The fact that he's reacting to the recent controversy this way by showing everyone that he's still open for business is no surprise to me. I think its pretty classy, honestly, and I think everyone else in the PvP community could do well to take a leaf out of his book

I'll be sure to come down after I practice a bit and knock the rust off. Don't want to waste my one shot at fame and fortune!

Thanks for doing this.

Interesting.

The video was entertaining, and I hope the challenger had fun for the brief time that the challenge lasted. Can't see throwing away 30+ mil though for a few seconds of entertainment. I'll just slog it out in PvE, thanks. :)
