Thank you frontier for punishing the exploiting scum and finally making Open safe again!

It's really convenient that these people all had outages right when they were about to die, isn't it? Why are you making all of these excuses for people literally exploiting the game? IIRC, you were pretty amped up over people getting punished for the engineers exploit, but yet here you are making excuses for another much bigger exploit. How do you deal with the cognitive dissonance?

...Having this conversation elsewhere.

I have outages, sure. Small power outages, router outages, etc. But the percentage of outages that I've experienced while "in danger" is incredibly small. So small that a false positive or two over time would have made little impact overall on my game.

As such I think losing connection while flagged "in danger" should result in a rebuy screen next login.

100% agreed. If your connection isn't stable enough to not drop regularly while you're in combat in Open, maybe an online multiplayer game isn't the best fit for you.

How does that apply to players like me with a shoddy connection who bought the game when offline solo was yet to be cancelled ?.

Also combat triggers more connection errors than other activities because there's more information being exchanged.

Ramming is ez to avoid though :D . And if a cutter tries to ram you and misses, it'll take him a minute to get his sight back on you. The cutter is actually a horrible ship, apart from its huge health pool and masslock.

Clippers, I have absolutely no problem with. I think people using clippers in PVP are shooting themselves in the foot. The class 7 bi-weaves allow it to run away when the shield drops and recharge back, indefinitely, however nobody is going to fall for that. If you run away for the second time, everybody will just stop bothering with the fight. And ramming is, as said above, ez to avoid, and other than ramming the Clipper has horrible damage output because of gimballed guns and chaff. Clippers are a dead weight in wing fights too, they do next to none damage but it's also not a tank because due to the low DPS the enemy focuses the other ships instead (unless they dumb ;) ).

Frag clippers are sometimes worth a lot though, but nothing ridiculous.

If a ship has a 150 m/s forward velocity advantage then it can ram you with impunity. Reversky won't do much when you go backwards at 266 with FAoff and they go forwards at nearly 500 m/s. Not much you can do against a competent Cutter rammer. Maybe you haven't met one yet? Well I haven't met a heat Exploiter either so I guess it's possible. Once you do, then you'll know what I'm talking about here. Heat weapons have nothing on Cutter rammers.

Cutter 10000 MJ shields + 500 m/s Rams = Exploit = Heat Cannons

Play in solo where you won't negatively affect another player's game. I don't care about losing connection against NPCs.

And still my account would be untouched

No seeking luxuries
No sothis abuse
No Draconis
No Quince
No 5 for one rolls
No combat logging

Feel free to let me know of any more exploits/cheats I haven't used I couldn't care less

Do it all Frontier and I can imagine that once again the apreciative commanders with be back on the store, letting you know you done good.

It can only ram you if you fly in a straight, predictable line. Use lateral thrusters and you'll never get rammed again.

If you don't have the speed to maintain range, then you cannot avoid getting into point blank range range either. At point blank, there is no dodging a ~500 m/s boost ram. You literally have 1s to get out of the way. If you are flying backwards with FA off then you might have a little more than 1 second to dodge. An Anaconda or Corvette isn't dodging a bullet the size of a football stadium in 1s by leaning on the transverse thrusters. That's like dodging a whole city block that is flying at you at 1.5x the speed of sound.

If a competent Cutter wants to ram you and you're not also in a Cutter (or something faster) then you're going to get rammed.

I've played in Open 99% since game launch, and never had any problems. Your inteplanetary mileage may differ. Perhaps I'm hanging around in the wrong (right?) systems. I probably spot another CMDR a few times a week, and sometimes stop to chat. There's a neighbour two systems up from me, and we sometimes bump into each other when out & about.

Not sure what Quince is - not seen it on the commodity list, although quince jelly goes lovely with cheese. And we have a flowering quince in the garden that has the most amazing blossom.

Then hopefully, if you disconnect in combat, you'll log back in to a rebuy. If it happens too much against other players, you'll eat a shadow ban. Everyone is happy!

There's been widespread support for FDEV's spanking of the engineering cheaters because they identified and punished exactly the right people, what you are suggesting would have been more like resetting everyone's modules. Realistically FDEV won't do what you want, if you are serious about this you need to find a more balanced approach.

No, I don't.

What will happen is that we'll test FDev again, they'll predictably fail, and there will be another PCGamer/Eurogamer article about how the devs selectively punish exploits in their game with a predictable FDev response "oh we overlooked these ones but this totally isn't our actual policy!" The community will cry "bbbbbut crime and punishment" and justify the widespread abuse of a 3 year old exploit, proving themselves to be massive hypocrites yet again.

Rinse and repeat.

And, one more time, it will mean nothing that SDC stages a something to complain about. No one noticed then, and no one will notice a second time. Except to say: "Oh, those griefers are doing something again.". Lol. The very definition of a 'tempest in a teacup'.
