Might be worthwhile checking Soontill relics as well to see if they illicit any response.
Certainly need to see what happens if 3 different guardian items are used on the device.
As a test could also drop a human life pod sacrifice to the gods or even just a plane old cargo cannister to test if has any impact.

Hi folks.
After spending some time goofing around at the new sites today, I decided to head back home to the bubble. Along the way I found a system that is very much like the one shown to the right of the spectrograph. The planets even closely resemble the sizes depicted by planetary radius relative to each other. The inner planets vary between 8-9km, and the outer ones are 10km+ with the 5th planet being over 12km in radius.
Location:
Aries Dark Region GW-W D1-55
It's likely nothing, and the system is otherwise very unremarkable. Just a bunch of frozen worlds and not much else. I explored the entire system and found nothing of interest, but it fits the profile and is relatively near the Pleadies.

UPDATING THE MEROPE 5C MAPPING PROJECT
As Iriidum Nova asked me, I have resurrected this project and updating it. The new changes are:
-Opened a few sheets for public edit ("Commanders notes" and "Clues and Spectograms"). Any commander will be able to update those sheets and add information without any risk of damaging important data.
-Nowadays I'm making the script to make a "reduced map". That is, a grid map with a resolution of 10 degrees instead of 1 per cell. This will allow for a faster at-a-glance review of the collected data.

So you're saying that if you don't follow the established verified method to find UP then you don't get them and that is FD's fault :O. Anyway - glad the RNG got you one in the end [up]
Considering i have found them within 100ls more times than following the "verified method" then i think hes correct
No I think slarty was a little bit out, here, and that was a few pages ago!
I think we're reasonably confident that:
UA (- - |) + UL (- | -) = UP (- | |)
If we see it as binary then it's just 1+2=3, or:
1 | 2 = 3.
And for some reason I can't help thinking, if we do it in binary, this also mean UP ^ (xor) UA = UL (or... ULs contain stuff that UAs and UPs have, but which they don't share). But that's just idle daydreaming on my part
I also like the idea that the leading '-' is just to make 3 bits = octal. Of course, however, with the various new unknown cargos, we might have 8 unknown things and that might be interesting

I can't see the logic of UA (- - |) + UL (- | -) = UP (- | |)
physically combining a UA and a UL would not give a UP.
So it is not simple boolean algebra here. Going by the UP sonogram ("the key") I suspect it is ordinal numbering
--1 = UA
-1- = UL
-11 = UP
and
1-- = another Unknown commodity
And I think that UP sonogram is intended to indicate to us what each of those devices does:
UA reports a system name (& any ships it detects)
UP senses a planet
UL transponds a data stream
possibly the final Unknown device reports on specific items on a planet surface.
since I think this key is intended for us (or any intelligent species that can interpret it) then I think this is from the "friendly" Oresrian faction who might welcome friendly contact.
Yup. This could do with being tested. This might be the result of anything it is not expecting being used, as opposed to a Guardian technology specific reaction.

Is there anything left to be currently 'solved' - I get cold sweats and tremors when I see the new spectro... Given that the original one never really got 'solved', I assume this new one is still needing work?
