Question. I've seen people reporting that Thargoid flowerships are sometimes appearing over the bases. What are they doing as there is no barnacle site there ?

Edit: can someone put the relics in just when Thargoid ship appears in the instance ?

There seems to be a circular 'opening' with a closed iris in the roof approximately over the central chamber. I wonder if that changes when the device is reacting to the unknown relic? Perhaps if this is tried when one of the Thargoid ships visit the base?

Hmm, taking the appearance of the flowerships at the barnacle site itself and combining this with the happening on the large crash site AND the hyperdiction scans I'd say they do reconnaissance, and maybe we're completely wrong about barnacle sites - perhaps these are relay stations where flowerships up- and download reconnaissance data ? Because they plan what ?

So, visited the active base in Solo and triggered the machine (beautiful, and great sound). Then, a I was leaving I received a "Hyperspace Anomaly" warning before my SRV shut down. Flowership turns up and scans me briefly before flying off. It arrived like the "Barnacle Encounter", but scanned me like the "Hyperdiction Encounter". Anyone else had that? Quick Google seems to indicate I may be the first/early to get scanned on a planet surface.

A player called Malic_VR was live streaming his encounter yesterday: Thargoid ship encounter at the active site

You are the second person I know of who had the encounter, well done! Did you record it in any way?

A litte sad...

Ok, I'm a bit confused.... that happens...

Anyway - The ancient sites revealed details about the Guardians… here are some important extracts.

“This led to a surge in weapons development, with biological warfare quickly established as the weapon of choice. An arms race began, focused on the development of biological agents and various counter measures
“Warfare was conducted using automated battle fleets. At first these were controlled by the Guardians via brain implants, but later they became entirely autonomous. In the early stages of the war the Guardians fought each other directly, but within a decade - and after much loss of life - most of the fighting was conducted remotely. Soldiers were deployed only to occupy areas that had been captured by autonomous or remote vehicles, and eventually were not used at all.” [where is it]
“As well as biological warfare agents, they also created creatures expressly for use in battle, and these remained effective even into the modern era.

What I draw from this is that the Ancient sites are in fact – Thargoid – The ships we are encountering are the AI Biological Ships and Weapons.
At this point I feel a little sad that all of our insect friends maybe dead – however I do have a glimmer of hope that maybe this information still holds true “most of the fighting was conducted remotely. Soldiers were deployed only to occupy areas that had been captured by autonomous or remote vehicles, and eventually were not used at all”. So maybe, just Maybe, our insect buddies are still around but sat in front of computers directing the AI from afar… in a permit locked area of our galaxy?

Oh yeah. I'm also giggling at all the people who were annoyed that "we know the structure is there based off the trailer, but it's locked!"

I can't help but feel that was some fine quality salt harvested by FD there :D

Edit: Ugh, sorry, posts didn't merge...

FD need the salt for the production of Leathery Eggs!

They hover over your SRV, and scan it like they do in space with your ship.

I've entered that opening with my DBX, but you cannot land. Reports from outside say nothing is happening outside the structure. I'll try to activate the device and run outside to see it myself. ;)

Must say my impression from seeing the video of the installation being fed artifacts, is not in any way it being "angry" or "aggressive" - just malfunctioning/working with invalid parameters and lacking a sanity check to prevent it from accepting them, as if somebody had short-circuited a piece of electrical equpment, by replacing high ohm resistors with solid copper rods. :p

I do love the way the scavengers come up really close to squintingly eye the guy, then turn around to look at the inferno, and then back, before beginning to eat the offending operator, starfish style. :p

By the way: Surely I can't be the only one who look at the new spectrogram and think of the double and triple "parantheses" as "transmit" and "retransmit/forward"..?

(As for the old spectrogram: I guess the "easy" possbile interpretation would be: "You'll get four numbers to a surface location, encoded in your human binary, for your convenicene. They'll come in this order: 1. Longitude (angle from pole), 2. Latitude (distance over land, from pole), 3. fraction/unit of latitude (ring spacing), 4. fraction/unit of longitude (segment spacing)", with 1 and 2 pretty exchangeable in terms of representative meaning. :7)

Idea: if the Thargoid navigation chamber (as I call it) reacts to the ancient relic, maybe ruins obelisks also react for UP/UA/UL and maybe also to UBM (as I call the unknown biological matter), SRV's would be not recommended as they can't carry CRCRs, but our ships now have also a data link scanner but can carry CRCR, so it should be possible to scan obelisks now with UP/UA/UL/UBM in combination with the ancient artifacts ?

Edit (as I'm used to): I guess the notation "unknown LINK" (L I N K) screams that possibility out.....

I flew with the UBM in my hold to see if it triggered a hyperdiction like the UA, nothing yet. The UBM fetches a nice price at Maia ;) Don't worry I had MA's to sell as well to offset the toxic effect.

I had not seen it yet, so I created a correctly scaled spectrograph of the recent signal.

There are a few artifacts still. If anyone has a clean copy of the audio, I can do this again.

Holy bejeezus.

Pro-tip, don't pay attention to the average prices. Look at that UL price! Glad I spent the hour gathering all that up now!

And if I can re-iterate the CG suggestion; got interdicted at one point, submit and jump was the safest way but shields barely held. At another point, multiple times (as your ship corrodes even while you're in the SRV) my FSD, which was at 57% most of the flight, failed. This seriously risks a pulse knocking your cargo hatch open.

In the last part of my run, a single pulse one-shot my cargo hatch.

But dat BM price...12-13m for that haul.

where did you sell it? (economy, state, distance...)

Sorry, but other objects have already been tried (see previous posts, CMDR JesusRocks), and only the relics made the Device Angry...
we need to try other items, sure, but the relation is EVIDENCE already. Perhaps it's just an hint from FD, to tell us Guardians and Thargoids were related somehow, in the past perhaps, and no more. But something happens for sure.

Check the previous posts, there's even a video with 3 Unknown Relics, that the Device accepts, then when scanned it gets Angry (on the FP).
Other objects are simply spit out again (CMDR JesusRocks tests).

Hi Riz
yes, I am becoming aware of this new evidence as I slowly catch up on the page backlog, but that evidence wasn't on the thread when I responded to the OP. :)

Apologies if this has been mentioned but depending on what server youre in, near the thargoid base you may have noticed either skeletons or full structures around the edge, in some servers the scavengers, which you may have seen, people are saying repairing but i believe theyre breaking whatever they are, down for resources, and in some servers you see remnants of that. Sorry if its been said but im rather intrigued as to what they are.
