Would the best way to remove/confirm the ship variable be to get peeps in different ships to get recordings from the same place and then compare?

Well it gets even more entertaining because I have just flown into Merope 5c's sphere of influence and I go no chittering at all! 8k Ls out into deep space in Merope and I got chittering from 2 of the messages.

They're all different. The first is identical to what ARelientOwl posted. The second is the same as the ones you posted before. The third is something new. See below:

BTW how do we know that other solar system is COL 70 when we have never seen the system itself?

The 5th un-headered section of binary numbers from the Unknown Probes turned out to be distance from that Col 70 system.

Looks like the dish may be pointed towards the California Nebula? There's barnacles there.
And AFAIK Gaurdians have never been encountered in game. Thargoids are the only non human species to have been confirmed to exist. What planet and coords are you at?

Sorry to be 'that' guy, but it is indeed echo - this sort of thing was coming up a lot with the original UP Spectro.

They are compressed versions of the main image - the 'butterfly- is just the Link squished up, as is the extra 3 symbols you found.

Dropped the Unknown Link about 100lys from Col 70 system and guess what? It DOESN'T point at it across any axis. Instead, the dish points away. I'm commencing audio tests now!

Truthfully if it follows the same design ethic as the other alien items that is to be expected (possibly)

The other items seem to transmit their signal using other tech as they do not have the "dish part" so if we assume it is receiving signals and then transmitting to Col, it is possible the dish points directly away to receive the signals from the UA and UP (it's unique function and possible reason to have unique hardware) which are then relayed by the rest of the device, I used the example earlier in the thread of a cantenna designed to collimate weaker signals into something practical.

It definitely seems to be pointing somewhere, when I tried to line up with it to check, it didn't look like anywhere special, looks like it's pointing into deep space not at Barnard's Loop, Col 70 or the Pleiades, could just be me.

Unknown Technological Sampels

Scanable Device:
Unknown Uplink Device (does not react to cargo above or to scan)

Observation:
- a lot of scavengers doing nothing(?)
- spikes with meta aloys
- empty spikes
- driving on center wreck causes HUD malfunctions

I played them top to bottom, could it be possible they are in the reverse order in my compatriots list (assuming they played them top to bottom), meaning all the responses are the same?

The system I am in is however right next to the locked one we suspected the thargoid base to be in, just in case anyone can see how that might have any bearing on this.

Yeah, I played them from the bottom and up (oldest to newest according to the inbox sorting).

If you're replying to me I don't think so. I have been sat the same distance away (40m) each time I have played it the messages and have gotten differing results depending on which system and now it appears SoI I am in.

Keeping track

A request for help in that I find myself struggling to keep up with all the developments despite the excellent front page summary in this forum. I guess what I am looking for is advice on how to learn about developments more quickly so that I can take part before it is all done and dusted. So:

1. What methods do people use to find out about developments as quickly as possible, eg. is there a live twitter channel or similar?
2. how do people find these listening posts so quickly when updates drop. Is it just luck or do they know something others don't (or are doing wrong)?
3. once discovered how can I know what to do next to help move it all along (Canon group perhaps?).

Anyway, any advice much appreciated!
