To the CMDR at HIP 14909 Thargoid base last night...

Cutter not the only griefer last night

At around 8pm uk time I was at the same base and a fed corvette was griefing players there as well. I had just managed to take off in my cutter after exploring the base (and getting my taipan stuck in the doorway) when they turned up, shot up a few ships and then turned on me, thankfully the cutter could outrun their engineered lasers and I managed to low wake and then high wake out. Shame because it was great fun working with other "normal" players to open doors and shoot up scavengers

This is why I use a PG for these things. Far less likely to encounter this sort of bellendiness.

I even finally got so frustrated at the inane habitual ganking seemingly taking place in OPEN at any community orientated locations that I signed up for Mobius.

I fail to see how groups of gankers turning up in engineered combat ships, simply to destroy any/all ships in a location - most of whom are in exploration ships and not even interested in a fight, let alone cable of one - at no real risk or negative outcome, as anything other than toxic and counter productive

And let's be honest. The more one sided and toxic the activity, the more they enjoy it... How is that a good thing for the game to basically promote by ignoring it?

We're finally seeing FD beginning to implement a C&P (karma) mechanic. When this finally encompasses psychotic illegal behaviour in no-security/anarchy systems, all the better...

ps: I'm all up for PvP, indeed the game need to offer more and promote more of it! But what goes on in these cases doesn't pass for that IMHO.

A cheeky tip if folks get their ships destroyed whilst they are in an SRV... Log off when you are finished doing whatever you are doing and log back into the non-horizon version of Elite and as if by magic, you will be back in your ship!

Great Tip Sir, and i Rep you.

Gday there, I am the one that was flying the Cutter if this was in Mobius PG? And if so, I am glad you had an unforgettable and fun experience. Please feel free to add me as a friend in-game and come into open and hunt me down sometime...thats the best part about playing in Open, you never know what could happen and when :)

Might I ask what your justification is for doing this in the Mobius PvE group ?

As I`m sure you know its against the group membership and I also know you got banned for killing me (and many others) as I spawned in a unarmed DBX, being there purely to explore the ruins with other players.

You got banned from the group not long after that but I`m curious as to what motivated you to join a group and then break the rules ?

Open I can understand but a non PvP group ?

This is a genuine question - no hatred, despite you killing me.

This is a good question.

The OP didn't make it clear this was in a Player Group, and has been paid homage by users for his positive outlook on the scenario.
This is wonderful but I can't help feeling that those saying

at last a correct response :) well done
and
Was just warming my hand up ready to type my signature response, then the post went allll the right ways. REP to you sir.

have a quite limited definition of "correct response".

I think most of us were with this CMDR before we learned where this actually happened.

Refreshing response, this is what makes open truly exhilarating compared to other modes.

Not sure what way you were going with that; it was refreshing response but given that it was in Mobius.....Why is the OP ok with that assuming he was in Mobius to avoid PVP? Lol.

I'm an advocate of PVP, i even defend players killing people for no reason what so ever because in Open, reason isn't required..However..... I always say do what you want within the rules, and whilst what they did is not against the game rules they knew it was against the groups and obviously did it out of fear (fear of meeting people who would shoot back at them in open, choosing Mobius so they could kill people without retaliation.) so cowardice essentially.

For once the term "Griefer" is actually valid.

Was this on PC or XBOX out of interest?

Well, that's another name for my instant-block-list right there.

Had my own hilarious/unfortunate encounter yesterday above the alien site. Had a friendly duel with a Cutter, just as the fight finished and he was shieldless at 41% hull, I was typing my congrats on a fun fight when a cheeky Asp swooped in and railgunned him to death!

Really, what's exhilarating about having your ship blown up while you're in your SRV.
There is literally no defence against that, and no way to avoid it other than mode switch.

Stupid response to wanton destruction with no valuable game play (especially if it was in a PVE PG).

Still - dismiss your ship (although that doesn't help you in your SRV).

Well, assuming it wasn't a PVE PG (which most thought it wasn't) the response is fine. Paying customers can kill without reason or not their choice. If someone saw the fun side of being attacked and the risk that comes with open good for them.

We can agree though that dismissing your ship is always a smart move and that doing it in a PVE PG was a lame move.

Frankly i'm not convinced that this thread isn't a deliberate attention seeking setup.

OP congratulates a guy for breaking the PGs rules despite apparently being a victim of it, then the aggressor posts for the first time in forever out of his 20 ever posts since October, arbitrarily mentioning that it was a PG in Mobius when no one even asked, just to entice a response.... All smells funny to me.

No one joins a PVE PG to thank someone for doing the exact thing they joined to avoid.

And when you want to leave?

Erm, recall ship? :S

And when you want to leave?

They want to believe there's something deep, meaningful and noble about individuals in engineered combat ships destroying individuals not interested in a fight, let alone capable of a fight, all for no other reason than these individuals enjoy causing grief...

I can't fathom it myself... And have an even harder time understanding why these folks don't dedicate half as much effort in proposing the notion that FD actually implement some worthwhile PvP gameplay into ED... Or is ganking the sum total of what we can envisage from a 2017 space game?

Who's they? Hope your not including me :p.
