Does the AI cheat or was this a bug?

*Edit* I'd have liked to have been a fly on the wall for your conversation about AI. For my sins I've been involved with a bit of agent-based modelling work over the past few years, and trying to model reactions to what their 'imperfect' (but actually perfect) senses are telling them to act 'more human', is a lot of fun. :)

I'd just love to watch the AI team or person work (Sarah or otherwise). It is a very interesting area of game design.

The best way to deal w/ the "cheating AI NPC's" is to be in an armored transport and be ready for them. If you kill them all, they will leave you alone.

Look upon them as CR for your account.

Eventually, due to rank, ship or other unk. reasons, NPC's interdiction frequency changed w/ me, I seldom have any trying that while I play. And this is while flying stacked missions, carrying cargo, engineer bits, etc.

RNGesus is weighted differently? Only FD can be sure.

Competent NPC, destroyed you from full shields in 3 shots? I'll go with bug. Any idea what weapon he attacked you with?

*sighs* I'm a pretty good chess player you know. I regularly get *massacred* by chess computers e.g. StockFish. Stockfish doesn't cheat, it just makes very good use of its thrusters.

I am of the belief that the NPC used the Holy hand grenade of Antioch. No other plausible explanation. Did he count to three?

Odd. I am elite in combat ( so sayeth my rank, not my skill level ) and allied with the factions I do business with, and I get interdiction attempts three or four times per trip, usually because I have multiple missions where folks are being sent to find me, and that one persistent Vulture. I haven't engaged any of them yet, but soon I will, just you watch.

My interdiction rate has always been very low. Some times it feels more like I'm playing Space Engine than Elite, because most of my time is spent going from point A to point B with nothing happening in between. The game is wonderful to look at, but it still often feels very empty. Even after 3 years of development.

I have also seen anacondas using iCutters as ammunition. Literally shooting cutters out and impaling this Fed 'vette with them.

Oh look, anecdotal daydreaming isn't that hard after all :D

I actually have more legit proof than you do as it happens...

I believe ya

They don't (trust me), so it's most likely network lag. PAs and rail-guns are all fixed.

Thanks for the clarification.

i think there wouldnt be that many cheating npcs, if majority of players would just check loadout of target in question, and maybe just maybe give a pass on some they dont have contrameasures against.
like, no ecm, no point defence, but lets go kill that viper equiped with 4 torpedos, who knew?! lol
