Play signal, listen to the audio and gather the difficult-to-hear binary triplets (they are easy to hear once you actually know what they sound like). Decode those triplets - you can use either of these two calculators:

- Olivia Vespera's
- Mine

In any case the triplets should point you to a system.

Then as far as I've understood, you go to the system and play the original signal that lead you there to the unknown link again and it'll point a laser to a planet. Some reports state that for the laser to work you'll need to drop one of each (UA, UP, UL) in space and wait for them to orient in triangle.

Single Link works fine, you do not need to drop UA and UP

Once you get close to the planet, can you use the UL again to help you pinpoint the location on the surface?

I lost my UL chasing after it in space. When it comes out of my cargo hold it has some speed...any tips on how to gently handle the UL not destroy it?

I haven't got a snowman in hells chance of figuring out the binary whatchamacallits. Think I'll go the old fashioned route of jump and then tickle the UL.

Either that or I'll be on hand to help confirm sites that younawesome lot throw up here!

what if the relics are a power source. And the machine is just purging excess energy.
I know it must have been tested by you guys but i plugged 3 in to see what would happen.

Both me and Olivia Vespera have made calculators to help with the math bit. I know Painbeaver has been using mine with a lot of success at least.

So what is needed are people with ULs and the necessary bits to get the audio codes from the sites. (What does that need anyway? Not math so I've not paid much attention. ^^)

If you have those, go to one of the recently discovered sites and grab the audio codes. Then play those to the UL to get the UL response by positioning yourself in front of it.

You can either decipher the response yourself - just listen to the triplet notes or record it and upload the audio for others to decipher, like for example Ecthelion (https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=!ADsmex8KpQiemfM&id=F9BA5264FA124C7!68911&cid=0F9BA5264FA124C7)

Once the audio is deciphered, plug it into one of the calculators and it should spit out three more system names. Some of these might be new - some will be old.

Go to one of the systems and play the audio to the UL again. You should get a beam to a new site in the system.

No math required :)
 
do the links point directly to the sights or do you have to eyeball the systems it points too? I can help with any manual work. us rifters are known for our patience.

heres another thought, do you think the devs copy and pasted a few hundred of these sites just to keep us busy for a few days?. i honestly think aside from terrain differences i see nothing out of the ordinary of each of these "wreck" sites. they all look very similar and still after 22 of them have been found NOONE is the wiser for what their purpose is. its all guesswork and to be honest its turning into a Yawn'athon event. Still i bet theres around 30 people out there with the correct configurations all heavily grinding away the numbers and data, so frontier can feel slightly fulfilled at reaching out to the playerbase with yet another why are we doing this puzzle, considering there is practically no direction if you call a few galnet snippets and a year of somethings out there and the latest mediocre hints from the now dead salome a storyline. The original thargoids were far more fearsome than whats on offer currently. Feeling a bit salty on this to be fair, a lot of players dont have the equipment in game and out to be doing the stupid puzzles braben keeps throwing at us. We are not university graduates please stop it and just give us pew pew.

Example.. as far as I've gathered:

1. You acquire 3 audio logs from Synuefe CW-V c18-6, let's call these A, B and C.
2. You play A to the UL and it'll spit out binary.
3. Plugging the binary into a calculator will yield HIP 14909 as an answer. (probably won't be this specific system but we'll use it as an example anyway!)
4. Fly to HIP 14909 and play the same audio log A to the UL again.
5. Now the UL will point a laser beam to a planet.
6. Fly to the planet and play the audio log again. The beam should point to a specific spot on the planet.
7. Fly closer to the spot and repeat until you can pinpoint the exact spot where the UL is pointing at.

Also as I stated above, I've never done this myself so this is all based on what I've gathered from the forums. Might be completely different in reality.
 
- the 'thing' in the center of the map room... is a Thargoid. Statue/solid, or in hibernation... look at it in upside-down camera mode...

Notice how it looks on my HUD when I have it targeted. Looks rather insectoid, doesn't it?

salty? noooooo. well iv got circumstance why I can't do math. while I do agree it's frustrating to not be able to solve or even be apart of solving these things I can also understand that there are people who can. TO give me a puzzle is one thing....to give the same puzzle to intestine is different agane. I would MUCH rather it be difficult for everyone and join in from the sidelines like I am, than it be solved it an hour while I'm asleep.

as for the pew pew. I agree there should be some and it is coming. But geez, let's get the WHY pew pew down. So there's a reason for it. Just "there's an thargoid.....thay are the baddys" it's just not good....not good at all

That's the fun part. I tried creating unique index on both 'name' and 'id' field but this failed as the original data has duplicate values for these bits... I was very coloured when I found that out. :)

Uh...

Um...

The air around me would have been a deep shade of blue had it been me! ;)
