Hiya Lads!
o7

anyone know any good free spectrogram software I can download? I'm looking to start some experiments on alien tech!!

Thanks in advance

My suggestion is to use Sonic Visualizer instead, I find it easier to use and more straightforward. You don't need to setup anything at all, just the scale, linear or log.
But you see the drawings at first try.

The binary LISTENING isn't that hard if you put your mind to it.

You can try it with this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhOHaEFViEM&feature=youtu.be&t=75 (go to 1:15 if the link doesn't take you there).

This is from the Unknown Probe (not Link) but it sounds just the same with the new things.
What you should hear is:
HLL <long pause> HLH HLH HHH HHL <warble> HLL HHL HHH, where H is high note and L is low note. In binary this would be
011 <long pause> 010 010 000 001 | 011 001 000

I find it easiest trying to pay attention to the low beeps that accompany the low notes. The high chirps vary quite a bit but the low notes should always have the "bass" portion with them.

Also it helps a lot having it as a recording, being able to go back and forth and re-check notes that you're not too sure about. Slowing it down might help as well (http://www.youtubeslow.com/watch?v=hhOHaEFViEM) but I think I did do this live in game when I was hunting the audio with the unknown probes.

(The unknown links don't have the first triplet and a long pause, instead they have three times the second portion, as in: 010 001 | 100 010 <pause> 001 | 011 100 <pause> 100 101 | 001 101 111)

Some people, me in front of them, prefer to use the eye instead of the ear: watching the spectrogram of the transmission you should very easily be able to see Hi and Low notes ;)
That's how I did all the UA transmission morse decoding for the ship drawings, long time ago. ;)

Awesome, thanks too

Hi, I've just "entered" with my python into an alien structure on HIP 14702. Some collision detection problems there. You can enter also from the "roof of spikes" on the top... :)

Unless people are keeping track of which site is leading to which, we won't know when we're done ;)

I seem to remember at least one person asking for people to record the source system alongside each of the three systems discovered from the messages.

It is very important, because there might also be a link between the source/target (max distance perhaps?).

At the moment, with new wrecks being found at least 1/hr, it very much feels like we're Hansel and Gretel...

This is where we are based on the spreadsheet:

Has anyone found a wreck on an icy world? Is there some effort being put into tracking the attributes of the planets with the wrecks?
