Frontier, what's your goal here?

ED Gameplay, Episode 277: pirate has interdicted my Cuttuer on the way to a station. I boost, boost, jump and drop into the station. Heading to the station, pirate Anaconda drops in right in front of me, collision, pirate blows up, now I'm Wanted, security swarms me and blows up my Cutter before I can jump away. Another great ED moment. Class 8A shields might as well have been 1E. Down in about 3 seconds. 36m rebuy, lost cargo and waste of time for what? If Frontier wants to encourage people to find other ways to spend their time, you're doing a fine job.

Frontier, what is the purpose of creating gameplay that plays out as above? Why would you have station security destroy a player's ship because they unintentionally destroyed a Wanted pirate that was trying to attack them? What possible purpose does that serve? Is that 'working as intended'? Is it 'realistic' to have things like this happen to players? Or are you sitting in your cubicle giggling because you irritated someone? Yes, I continue to play the game, mostly on the momentum of the time I've invested and relationship with people I play with, but each such episode reduces my interest, and when people ask, I tell them not to waste their time with ED.

So what's your goal with this game? Are you trying to create a game that the greatest number of people enjoy playing or a game that insists on playing 'Gotcha' with players? I really do not understand Frontier's gameplay philosophy. Care to enlighten us? Or maybe Frontier just doesn't care? Love it or leave it........and we'll censor any 'goodbye' post you make? Is that how to build a customer base? [wacko]

something something speed limit...

Bingo. Except that his bounty probably was the result of having not scanned the ship, before destroying it, rather than the speed limit. The trouble is; the ship dropping in where it did. I would assert that all of the game mechanics, besides the drop in, were working correctly and as intended. None of the OP's complaint is what the complaint should be. The complaint should be: Why should a pursuing ship drop in system, either above, or in front of your ship?

That's what happens if you exceed the speed limit in the no fire zone. When you see a pirate in a system, he will always follow you within the system, so you should expect him to drop out at the station or anywhere else that you drop out. That should make you doubly sure not to commit any crimes, like speeding. The only daft thing is that they always land closer to the station than you can. It shouldn't be like that.

i have encountered this bug. i have gotten the usual pirate message while SC and even waited on 0 throttle for them to interdict and nothing happens. i get bored and continue to station. drop out as normal and slow down to 0 prior to requesting docking and the pirate exits jump in front. i dont hit it but it shoots me so i was luckier. i joined in with a couple of shots then i scanned with kws to max the money when security finished shooting him apart. it has to be a bug but im sure its been reported because i think i have read about people mentioning interdictions in the stations no fire zone.

come to think of it, i have had same thing with a USS. i got the pirate message but no blips or contact for the sender npc. see a degraded emissions uss drop into it. im about to go because its just mats i dont want and the pirate drops in and demands cargo. looks like an interdiction that should happen isnt until you drop out when the game makes them drop out next to you or something. maybe i should make bug report :/

Who runs from pirates in a cutter?! If any pirate is so brave as to interrupt the monotony of trading I am generally overjoyed!

That being said....yeah pirates shouldn't jump into the system in front of you, that's just silly.

1) If the ship jumped right in front of you immediately upon dropping out, you can ticket it.
2) Neverthless, your 'killed in three seconds' is obviously nonsense. I could ask for a vid, but I'm willing to bet a few tons of UA that you (as everyone with the 'NPCs killed my cutter in 3s' and such story) happened to not be recording it. Just say "I encountered a bug, the cops attacked me, I am not very good at this game so they killed me." Its okay. No need for pointless drama-queening either. Neither strengthens your case.

You fell foul of the "Insurance brake testing scam".

Expect a message from a "no win no fee" space lawyer demanding 1mCR for whiplash injuries.

Apparently UL are the new UA.

Fair enough. :) I raise my offer to 5t of UL for the 'killed in 3sec by security' vid. If OP wants they may re-enact even, I dont care. :) I just checked at coriolis: my PvE FDL needs 38s to kill a cutter with 8A shields and no boosters. So unless the station security consisted of 11+ modded A-graded FdLs who fired instantly upon death, the OP is talking nonsense. Station fire doesnt reach drop-out point.

working as intended.

you were involved in an fatal accident. since you were speeding you became wanted, and as you have seen an a8 shield is equivalent to a paper hat if a station decides to fire on you. the moral of your story is *don't speed* near stations. if you are new then sorry, nothing warns you about the severity of this offence. it has been said a million times in the forum if this helps.

the severity is 'justified' because some players used to ram unsuspecting players to death at the mail slot. it was tested that at speeds below 100 m/s ramming is very unlikely to cause destruction, so this was set as the limit. if you collide with someone and are over the limit, you're guilty so ... *don't speed*.

the follow up of this story is that those same players now sit in suicidewinders at stations waiting to smash into speeding cmdrs, sacrifying some peanuts to watch some uncaring, big and expensive ship blow up in the most ridiculous way, so ... *don't speed*.

of course in solo/private this doesn't happen, but laws are the same (you know, one galaxy to rule all modes!) and accidents are still possible so ... *speed at your own risk*.

don't look at me that way, i didn't 'intend' this. yw.

Yeah... I like the game this way -

We all know the rules and whenever we break them (even if unintentionally) it makes life in this universe a bit more exciting.

I'm usually a law abiding pilot but ocassionaly stuff happens and the cops go for me. Makes for a bit more fun :D

(It is only a game :D )

I feel like i'm a complete failure as a pilot if i'm not full pips to engine, speeding and boosting through the slot at every station. What is this follow the speed limit nonsense you guys are on about.

dunno i just accidentally boosted into a python in a cz. had no pips to shields, just a ring left, speed build ... oh well.
