Euro Truck Simulator is awesome!

I recently updated the traffic with some Traffic A.I. DLC/Workshop MOD and wish I had done it sooner. I went to the Workshop page > AI and just picked the most popular one.

Traffic acts much better now, it feels more like real traffic and changes throughout the day but it's generally heavier. You get banked up at some stop signs too, but the wait feels more authentic. I don't know why I didn't apply any of these before - previously I have just added cosmetic stuff.

Are there other mods you guys use, apart from the cosmetic stuff?

Are you using that ontop of ProMods?

Would hope not..

And your DLC is called? There's loads of them by the looks of it? "AI Traffic", "Alive"... etc etc...

I'm at work at the moment and cannot remember if I settled on More AI traffic(link) or DP's Realistic Traffic(link,) but I believe I found "DP's Realistic Traffic" to be better. I can report back after work but I just arranged everything by popularit(link) and went through the ones at the top of the list. I also added the BigBus traffic pack and Police/Ambulance/Fire vans into the mix, and the general road experience has changed quite a lot. Sorry I couldn't be specific, I didn't realize I had forgotten which one I settled on until I was asked :)

If you've found one superior please do feed that back later then :)

Bought Alien Isolation too...I would tell you what it's like but I've spent the last hour hiding under a virtual desk crapping myself whilst listening to weird noises [where is it]

Haven't been able to play Alien for ages.... was really getting into the whole atmosphere of the game: then my dog arrived and stuck his nose against my leg.

I screamed like a 4 year old

Went back to trucking the next day. Safer on the nerves!

While browsing ETS2 stuff, I noticed City Car Driving has added HTC Vive support.

Huh.
Steam Sales, Just when I thought I was out...they pull me back in

ETS2 mods

Just a few I would suggest trying:

jazzycats traffic pack, many different ones (jazzycats)
sisl mega pack (sisl)
50k addons (50k)
sound fixes (drive safely)
and
advanced physics (techkilla) (I am trying momo's at the moment, but it will have to be good to be better than advanced physics.
Cabin lights (piva)
Camera 2 plus distance (SW mods)

There are soo many to list, but these are basics, for me anyway.
Lots of great sound mods out there too, V8 mods can sound really nice. But its all down to pref I suppose.

Ai traffic, well possibly DP. But the vanilla traffic is getting better. I use vanilla at the moment, I haven't found anything better (reliable), over a long run yet.

If you type any of the above in steam or on a mod site, they should come up.

PS: once newer players get into it, there are some nice 'realism' packs out there, concerning fuel prices, cargo charges, weather etc.

I'm still looking for a good road surface mod. RusMap has some interesting road surfaces, but we do need a really good road surface mod.. Anyone ??

Well, I've played ETS2 enough this weekend to get a large garage and 5 trucks. I'm totally used to the speeds and it all feels right. I'm very impressed by the variety and quality of the scenery. I was under the impression that ATS was supposed to be better, but there is really not much of a difference, at least in quality. I will say that ETS2 seems a little more "cookie cutter" than ATS, and the cities seem smaller. My one main gripe however is that there are so many errors in highway lane markings. It seems that 1/4 or more indicate more lanes going forward than are actually there. I think I'll pick up ProMods and hope that they correct these errors. It's kind of shocking that a game that has been out so long still has so many errors. I also need to learn about European traffic laws and how having priority is supposed to work - I get some strange and inconsistent reactions from the AI.

And one other problem is the quick yellow lights. ATS had the same problem - either slam on the brakes or get a ticket. I found a mod for ATS that extended the time, but I didn't see one for ETS2. I'm hoping ProMods will take care of that too.

Why hasn't this game got a replay option? eg: With the last 5 mins of driving stored so you can rewind and rewatch stuff?

I think it is not worth it much as both AMD and NVidia offer it already for every game.

So you can rewind back to the bridge you went over 30 seconds ago and replay it from the various camera angles the game offers? That's the kinds of replay I was thinking of, which was in driving games 20+ years ago :)

Or you could replay yourself trying to reverse into a space from any angle!

eg: Grand Prix 3 20 years ago let you do it ;)

No, That isn't in the game, but would be very nice to have. Lets be honest, I find it very hard to get outside video of the truck, because its quite hard to keep control whilst doing it. Easy in first person, hard from exterior angles.. Well I find it hard.. ;)
So yes, would be nice to have at some stage, but highly unlikely they will bother to put it in so far down the 'road'.. Ah, see what I did there..:D

I've seen there's some sort of developer mode where you can at least pause the game and then use the camera views...

Maybe ETS3 will have the obvious rewind feature that's missing :)

I just pull my truck over or stop in the road and go into the external views to see all the cool stuff. Cars don't seem to mind when you create a traffic jam a lot of the time...
