It's o7/o7 day!

Maybe in the 3300's members of the Pilots Federation do this odd salute, as they are not strictly military.

Or its just a simple letter number combo some internet geek created who didn't know/care about military etiquette.

I don't mind admitting I dislike the o7 thing, why? You do not salute with your left arm, do that to an officer and you'll be in the brig for 24hrs guaranteed.

I personally prefer <o rather than o7

It's not a military thing or an authority thing it's a Elite : Dangerous - thingy, type thing - OK?

Efficiency! Otherwise you'd have to type "Good space day to you Dear Sir, may your journey be most fruitful and jocular" while travelling close to the speed of light.

o7 is safer.

I'm usually going at least point five past light speed, often many many times faster.

Besides, a salute is given as a mark of respect, and respect has to be earned.

Surely that's trust, trust has to be earned .. respect being a given thingy? o7 o7

I think it is James Bond day (official) because it's double o7 ..
But anyway, if you <o your o7 with the other hand .. does it feel like someone else is doing it?

No...respect is earned not given exactly the same as trust...and beside, we are not military pilots. Its just a thing with me...I dont give respect first time I meet someone, I say "lo"...respect may or may not come later and it depends on ones actions and convictions ^

I left real life army a long time ago after having numerous issues with authority...not much has changed Im afraid but whatever...not gonna salute until I respect them enough to justify it ^

There is justification for the salute being from the left hand .......

Right hand too busy holding the joystick and weapons fire button as you do a (very) close fly-by past your foe .... errr fellow commander ..... o7 :D

PS FD ... we need an o7 emoji ;)
