Thank goodness they did leave it out.As per the last link,
"In-system jump to in-system body"
I wonder why they left that out.

With practice you should be able to get it down to 75-80 minutes. Tune in to Hutton Orbital Radio for in-trip entertainment. There's also a monthly Mug-Meet if you want to meet some crazy truckers while you're there.
It took me this long to get across a system to one station. There has to be a way to choose which star in the system you want to jump to. Such a waste of time.
Surely the "reason not to" is simply to preserve the perception of space as a big place, with vast distances between astronomical bodies?
In the case of Hutton, getting there provides a sense of achievement and the fact that it's taken you so long to get there creates a feeling of real isolation about the station and it's inhabitants.
Crazy-long journeys in SC are an anomaly, an aberration, an edge-case.
They're not something you HAVE to do every time you play ED.
Embrace the variety rather than moaning because not everything provides instant gratification.
No it's not. Actually Hutton Orbital is 0.214 LY from entry.
You would never arrive at a target 22ly away using supercuise.
Obligatory "space is big, see where you're going first we have a giant map" post.
No way around it - this is deliberate design decision.
..............
These useless jump screens kept me away from playing yesterday. ...............
Lol no. Its randomized where stations and what not are placed.
+1 Rep just for the commander name - [up]

That's the same mug, I just combined 3 pics to show the whole pattern on it.
And no, I didn't buy it, I won it in a raffle related to the CG.

So, you got one of your initiation rites completed (Hutton Orbital)? o7
For the MUG!
On a less tongue-in-cheek note, sorry, have to repeat myself:
Nope, the mechanics are as good as they can be in a single player game which is shoehorned into a MMO mongrel.

Now, I wouldn't mind some sort of dumb autopilot which could fly you to a destination if no one interrupts the trip, but some insight into how the current system came to be might get you appreciate it a bit more.
And the long supercruises need to stay! We don't have cable-cars to Mount Everest or Matterhorn etc., some places should feel an achievement once you get there. Getting across the whole Galaxy is all too easy & quick already.

Yep, many of the systems closer to Sol are hand crafted, from their position in the galaxy (according to the latest data) to the planets & moons to the stations & bases...given that Alpha Centauri is our closest neighbour it's probably safe to assume this is one of them. There is no randomisation in "where stations and what not are placed"Lol no. Its randomized where stations and what not are placed.
The galaxy is procedurally generated, which is not random. Also adding to that is the fact that all of the known stars in our night sky(from various star catalogs) were hand placed, along with loads of (if not all) stations.
