Exploration - why the Anaconda?

I'm actually returning to the Bubble to get an Anaconda for exploration myself. Never bothered to get an Anaconda because I didn't have a need for one, but figure I might do those long range passenger missions with it after I engineer the crap out of it...

I fly my AspX fully A rated, top tier stuff too. I've only done two trips to Colonia and scanning bodies en route was the priority for me so I wanted stuff that will last and keep cool. The jump range was not that important I was still over thirty ly. Took me weeks but I got Elite explorer.

I have tried scanning bodies in my explorer Conda and it was painful. So she is gathering dust at Founders World. I think for pure speed the Conda would be the choice vehicle for long distances. If you are taking your time and doing some serious scanning/mapping then if you can forgo the SLF take the AspX or something similar.

The main problem of the anaconda is space madness. It is creepy.

When you have been out in the deep black for too long your mind plays tricks on you in a ship as big and old looking as the anaconda. It's basically a haunted house. I have looked over next to me wearing my oculus (or is it a space helmet? It gets so confusing in the deep black) and SAW THE CHAIR MOVE. I see faces in hyperspace and hear a strange screeching clicking noise, like a bunch of bugs talking to each other. Or is it in my own mind.

Good rave this weekend?

Which will resell for 100% of the value. Unless you're in the bubble, your argument is invalid.

Or unless you simply don't want to spend 91m on a fuel scoop. Mind you I'm not a refuelling professional, I'm only filling a stock tank plus 16 ton additional on an Anaconda. As long as I can scoop a jump's worth of fuel whilst flying round the star I can't see the point of spending more than I need to.

Asp pilot here, no complaints, Conda turned me off due to the turn speeds primarily, but I keep swinging back and forth wether to spend the time upgrading her.

A curious question: Anyone use Dirty Drives L5 on their exploroconda? Wonder if it might be worthwhile to make it feel more like the Asp .. or if the power/heat/other restrictions might make this a bad choice?

Edit: Nvm .. they wont matter in SC I don't think

That's not true, the best DBX I've seen has a max jump range of 63 ly and the best annie I've seen has 72 ly.

72ly?
Holy moly.
That would be one hell of a bubble taxi.

How much does it reach with neutron boost? 250ly+?

I need to exchange a few words with my fellow engineers.

DBX falls short, for me,in the fuel scoop department. It is painfully slow, but I love flying that little beauty ;)

Put it this way,for price, size and pad use the 3 that anyone would love to explore in(and taxi, haul, even combat) from large to small, conda, asp and dbx.

Decent range, lots of space for things. That's about it really.
That said I've not taken mine out for a proper trip yet so we'll see how that stacks up versus the Asp which was quicker, more manoeuvrable and could land anywhere and has a better view.
We'll see, I'm hopefully it'll work well :) If not I can park it up for doing other things and take the Asp back out for a spin.

Ultimate in jump range, size 7 fuel scoop, and lots of slots for stuff.

At the cost of woeful SC performance, and a crappy view...

Why would you use an Asp/Anaconda when the buffed DBX is a thing. Cheaper, enough internals, 4 utilities and best jump range prior and post RNGineer mods. With a grade 4 FSD range roll I modded mine to 47LY

Size 4 fuel scoop. That's why.

All my deep space exploration so far has been with an Exp Asp and I thought I'd upgrade to an Anaconda to go out to Colonia. I see a lot of recomendations for the Anaconda as an exploration ship and I'd like to know why. I realise we all have our preferences but the Ana doesn't seem to have a greater jump range than the Exp Asp, is slow and difficult to manouvere, and has limited visibility through the cockpit. I'm beginning to think I wasted my credits. What's the upside that I'm missing here?

Anaconda can jump further than an ASP X equipped properly.

Exactly.

Someone calculated here that due to lousy Size 4 fuel scoop it takes much longer for DBX to travel 10k LY than Asp with shorter jump range. You lose time on waiting for the damn thing to fill your ship while Asp cheerfully does the corona surfing and goes on.
