I couldn't care less what else you might have said, I was correcting the sentence I quoted.

P.S. - The Cobra MkIV was never "removed" - it is just not visible in shipyards to non-qualifying accounts. Your sentence "What caused it to be removed was the change to Horizons becoming a DLC for the main game." is just plain wrong.

Removed as in no longer part of ('removed from') the package when buying Horizons. Not from the game. I know it's still in-game, I own it. With respect, you're diving on sentences which were part of an ongoing discussion and reading them out of context when their meaning is perfectly clear within the context of the discussion they were part of. I don't know why and to be honest, I don't intend to waste any of my Sunday trying to work it out.

No, as I understand it, the ship was never going to be part of Horizons, it was always intended as a "loyalty bonus" (or whatever term you want to use) what was provided as "compensation" when the seasons model was announced was the Gold AspX paint job.

When you say "with respect" it is just an excuse for being disrespectful. It is silly so stop using it.

What I did was correct the perfectly obviously wrong statements, irrespective of whether other things had been uttered previously, or their context, they were wrong and misleading.

bye bye

No, this is what you did:

Person A: The sky is blue.
[ You enter conversation ]
Red: The sky is also pink and orange.
You: ASHKUALLY! The sky is blue, except when light from the sun hits it at a certain angle.
Red: I know.. we were talking about sunset.
You: I don't care what you were talking about. Your statement was wrong. I am right, I corrected it. It was obviously wrong and misleading.

Yes, it was misleading and wrong .. because you didn't have context at the time.

What was said before is very important; otherwise all you're doing is pointing out what everyone already knows and then arguing when it's pointed out that everyone already knows what you're "correcting.". :/

Believe me if I'd intended being disrespectful you would be well aware of it. I know many people say 'with respect' right before they say something breathtakingly insulting but I'm not one of them. I was replying to your needlessly dismissive and confrontational comment without trying to escalate the situation.

As for your first sentence, the way you understand it isn't really important because it doesn't seem to have much in common with what actually happened. Did you notice I didn't say 'with respect' there by the way?

I like your sky metaphore, so I will use it.

Person A: The sky is blue. It's not black as night.
Red: The sky is also pink and orange.

(while the discussion was of the difference between day and night).

You said that once a time limited exclusive offer period expires it should mean the offer is definitively over because otherwise it would be totally unfair.

Then you posted a quote to support your stance, but which actually showed that the stated time-limited period was changed to be around seven weeks longer than announced.

Then when I pointed out that this was an example of a time limited offer not expiring when originally stated, you said that had nothing to do with the issue despite you being the one who raised it in the first place.

Since then all you've done is try to obfuscate that fact because it's directly at odds with your underlying stance about the importance of time limited periods remaning in force. You must be really kicking yourself for bringing it into the discussion given how much of an effort you're making to distract from it.

That's true regardless of what colour the sky may be. :)

I think it should be unlocked as it's been out for ages and was available for Horizon players for ages. Free it now we've enjoyed our fun and some newer players are now hit with the "not available" wall, freeing it now you'll make it all even.
I am for letting it become available to all.
I want to watch all the salt tossing when Cmdrs start complaining how mediocre it really is (in the hands of the less experienced ) :O lol

I am not going to fall out with anyone over semantics. I just corrected two wrong statements. The statements were wrong, it doesn't matter about CONTEXT - the statements were wrong.

Anyway - I really am not into having a silly dispute that honestly just diverts from the thread .........

Hey peeps

My OCD has finally burst...... i want a Cobra MKIV for no other reason then i have aquired every other ship in the game and its killing me that i cant buy the one ship im not allowed to.....

The MKIV in case you are unaware is a restricted purchase to those who have been playing the game since at the very least before me (Really early doors players) which means that most of us and ALL of the newly introduced dont have access to the ship. I get that as a reward to early cmdrs there was a restricted ship but the game has evolved with new ships which have been released, take the Dolphin why wasnt that restricted to all that played the game before PS4 users arrived...

Understand that i dont want/need a cobra MKIV, by all accounts its not that great and those that have both would use a MKIII instead, if i purchased one it would go into storage and id likely never use it beyond module storage but the fact i cant buy one is killing me

FREE THE MARK IV

If the MK IV was a worthy ship that was flown in large numbers by those fortunate enough to have it, then you might, just might, have had a chance. I don't see this thread causing a meltdown on the forums.

I have never flown mine.

Anyway - I really am not into having a silly dispute that honestly just diverts from the thread .........

You should have perhaps thought about that before you made your second, utterly ridiculous post suggesting that my use of the word 'removed' in connection with the ship meant anything other than it being removed from the content provided to people purchasing the game after 5th Feb 2016. I wouldn't have come up with something that obscure even if I'd been actively looking for something to troll with, it's utterly bizarre. Nobody else seemed to have any difficulty in interpreting it.

You're the second person in this thread who has had a pop at me then reacted as if I'm the one going round lighting fires when I've handed them their . It's getting tiresome now, which is why I kicked back. Happy to leave it now if you are but don't be trying to make out it's some silly argument about semantics when you're the one who made a post based on a very odd interpretation of a very clear comment.

I did, and was right.

Then you posted a quote to support your stance, but which actually showed that the stated time-limited period was changed to be around seven weeks longer than announced.

Yes I did posted a quote proving my stance. The actual length of the period was never an issue, only the exclusivity within it, and the fact that the period has ended.

Then when I pointed out that this was an example of a time limited offer not expiring when originally stated, you said that had nothing to do with the issue despite you being the one who raised it in the first place.

Yes, and I'm repeating it again: the week or two or six of the period is absolutely irrelevant to this thread. You are the one who picked on a week or six, while all the discussion was on exclusivity of the original offer. Not on length (day, week or six) of the original offer.

Since then all you've done is try to obfuscate that fact because it's directly at odds with your underlying stance about the importance of time limited periods remaning in force. You must be really kicking yourself for bringing it into the discussion given how much of an effort you're making to distract from it.

No, since that (and even now) I'm pointing out that the length of the original offer is irrelevant. It was never an issue, you made it so. The only thing that matters is that after the day before the official release of Horizons the offer expired. And after the expiration date, Mk IV is exclusive for the people who bought the Horizons in that period. Whatever the length was.

So to use a sky metaphor again, the discussion (of exclusivity) went like this:

A: Day is blue.
B: No, black.
A: Blue.
B: Black
A: Blue
B: Black
A: Blue
B: Black
A: Blue
C: No, it's also pink and orange (now the length of the offer)

So to finish this unproductive detour from an original topic, Mk IV was offered as an exclusive gift, "thank you for believing in us, will never be available again". Googling the Cobra Mk IV launch I've found Braben's statement and posted it. Thank you for reinforcing it with Zac's statement too ("after this it won't be available"). Have I found it, I would have posted it too. As in exclusive for a long gone offer, not about the length of the offer. Long gone.

(And I'm glad you eliminated the pipe, both in avatar and in language :D. The later was a bit insulting.)

So just so I'm absolutely clear on this:

A time limited period of 'before 15 December 2015' can change to 'before 5th February 2016' and that is OK

A time limited period of 'before 5th February 2016' cannot change to anything after that date because that would not be OK

Yet this apparent contradiction, which becomes apparent when trying to assemble an argument about whether such dates can ever be revisited based on what has happened in the past, has no relevance at all to a discussion of whether the item in question should ever be made available after 5th February 2016?

I have to ask, what is your stance on people who gained the right to purchase the ship between 16th December 2015 and before 5th February 2016? Was it reasonable from your perspective that they were able to do so as a result of a change to an announced time-limited period?

The point is that you're trying to construct an argument based on a principle, that once an end date is set it should be set in stone, which is perfectly fine but the examples that we have of the situation show that the principle doesn't fit the previous reality. Even that's fine if we accept that we've had some kind of paradigm shift in the intervening time, it's just that if we have I can't see what it could be.

Look mate, whatever your agenda here is I will not go into this pointless discussion with you any more.

It was never a question of how long the offer lasted, but that it's long gone and Mk IV now stays exclusive.

I honestly don't have an agenda of any kind.

As I've said I already have the ship myself so I'm not pushing for access to it, I have no problem if it was unlocked again and equally, I accept that as things are today it's not unlocked and the best information we have suggests that it never will be. I'm probably about as neutral on the subject as it's possible to be.

I'm just fascinated by the mind's eye's ability to slide across an inconvenient truth as if it wasn't there, always have been.

I'll swap you!

Cobra Mk IV available to everyone and in return Horizons owners who got it before get exclusive access to…. the Panther Clipper!

Bahahahahah oh my God the rage that would provoke. :D

If this is an example of the reaction when people merely raise the idea of freeing the MK IV, imagine what would happen if FD actually did it? The tidal wave of salt would consume all in its path.

You are not losing anything (of value*) if the Cobra MK IV becomes available for everyone.

*Except for whatever dubious emotional value one may have for that exclusivity, which I would roughly translate as "I have a thing that you can't have, loser".

Exclusivity is the only real value the Cobra Mk IV has.
