Oculus sale - sold out?

Oh! ETS2 is Oculus friendly? Didn't know that!

I've order the much discussed Inateck 4 port USB card too so I'll have two USB3 ports free on my MB and four on that PCI card - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Inateck-Superspeed-Ports-PCI-E-Expansion/dp/B00B6ZCNGM

BTW - Do you leave all your sensors and deadset plugged in all the time? Or do you plug them in when needed?

all the time. the headset has a sensor so it only turns on when you put on your head***. no way i could be bothered plugging and unplugging all the time.

ETS2 is fab in VR. its DX9 which is not really VR friendly as such it works your machine harder than it should. you need to use the beta branches of the game however.

*** it works well.... with 1 downside.

someone had the idea of using a manikin head as a headset mount when not in use..... this does not work well as it turns on the headset.

when you plug in, spread the sensors around your usb. it will be less of an issue with you with only 2 sensors (i am guessing you wont be needing the 3rd given your space restrictions) but for me to get the best (ie so it does not moan at me) i have to spread the load between my inatek card and my onboard.

(its less of an issue when i do not have my hotas plugged in)

Always plugged in.
I might as well unplug my PSU for all the good it would do me.

If my pc is on these days I'm most likely to be using it, or about to.
Same with the HOTAS.

In actuallity, my PC is now basically a machine for playing Elite, and whatever else it is used for it just between sessions.
As for manikin head, if you turn the pc off as well that would keep the rift :p

Then again I suspect it would be a very moot point cause I have never seen a manikin with the same size head as me.
Seriously, who has heads that small ?

Anyhoo, I just put it down on the desk.

..............
so the twist yaw for me is a vital compromise

...............

Sorry to cover this non-vr subject. I use a CHPro Fighterstick (which hs all the same buttons etc as the Warthog stick) so no twist axis, but I bind the pinky-switch as a press-to-hold "Yaw to Roll" in E D options / controls - holding that down, moving the stick sideways gives yaw rotation rather than roll rotation. It works really well and becomes second nature, much more convenient than using my CHPro Pedals.

Since others have already responded to this non-VR question I will just add that since Hasbro then Logitech have taken ownership of Saitek, some have reported quality concerns (with the hotas at least). As to the rudders, I can only say that I have had the original Saitek Elite pedals for years without issue. Then again, my hotas has been fine, as well. For a better evaluation, I would suggest a google search of these with an emphasis on what pilots in sims like DCS and BOS have to say about them. meanwhile have you heard-Oculus sale sold out?

I haven't read the whole thread, so forgive me if this is a little out of place. But personally I really like twist-yaw, and also have some space constraints that make pedals less desirable. My solution is to use the Thrustmaster T.16000M HOTAS with a set of Monstertech desk mounts. They're solidly constructed, clamp tightly to the table, and have a quick-release. They support canting the sticks outward too, which is really nice. I find that if you're not using armrests, your elbows naturally hang inward a little, so canting the controls outward a little makes them feel more natural.

Thanks for the replies folks!

Just bit the bullet and ordered from the Oculus site!
We'll see. I don't know if the inclusion or otherwise of the xbox controller will make a huge difference to me to be honest. I've not used a controller since the PS1 days so it's not my idiom!

Exciting!! :)
Just curious, what does your order status say when you check on the oculus site?
I ordered mine on the 16th, and it still has a status of "Order". I contacted oculus wondering why it hasn't moved to at least processing, and got a canned "Due to the huge demand, blah, blah..." response.

I'm assuming it's just because they're currently backordered?

I ordered my "new bundle" (without controller etc) on the 19th... and that's not budged either!

Ordered the special price "bundle" from Oculus over a week ago. Hadn't heard back so emailed Oculus. Got a nice email back assuring me that my order has been received and will be filled, they are just a bit busy ATM meeting the demand :)

Eek!

I was worried that the sata extension power lead I've had to buy for my yet to be fitted Inateck four port usb 3 pci card won't arrive till next Tue... Suspect that might not be an issue now!

Just got my daily spam from newegg:
"$399 Oculus Rift + Touch VR System is Back in Stock!"

Hopefully this means shipping soon from oculus.
