Ok guys, serious question here. What happens if Trump fires Mueller and pardons everyone? Is there any way for the USA to get justice or remove him?

1) Noone knows.
2) Easy: a pardon requires admission of guilt. Would make an impeachment pretty easy under normal circumstances. I doubt the GOP would actively support an old man confessing to treason...

If not then this constitutional arrangement seems somewhat lacking, although to be fair to the people who wrote it they never counted on a loon like Trump being elected.

If Congress, so desired it could impeach him. His powers of pardon specifically don't cover that.

The big question would be how long will the republicans keep backing Trump should he do something outrageous?

I mean gate wasn't really enough

Giving an ally's classified information to the Russians wasn't enough

Firing someone for trying to investigate him wasn't enough.

At this point you really have to work Der if shooting somebody on 5th avenue would be enough.

I think you're overestimating integrity of the GOP.

He will have to be politically fatally wounded in a manner which effectively destroys his presidency.

The only way that will happen is if he is in a position where Congress will impeach.

Catch 22.

What I'm wondering is this pardon business. Can he pardon himself for crimes committed? If so that is absolutely absurd. The United States might as well have a monarchy. What would stop him from signing an order declaring elections illegal then pardoning himself for violating the constitution? If the safeguard against presidential tyranny is congress, and congress act at the behest of the president, there is quite a serious problem right now.

Was Nixon's resignation some sort of a deal with Gerald Ford then? He passed the keys to the White House over to him in exchange for the pardon?

Is it possible that Trump might try to make a similar deal with Mike Pence?

As long a Pence is not implicated, then he just takes over from Chump, just like Ford did for Nixon. The pardoning just came as a matter of course.

Trump denies he's thinking of pardons, while claiming the power to pardon himself at the same time.

"I did not eat those delicious salty snacks with a hint of onion."

Hilarious.

I believe there were rumours but no evidence has ever surfaced.

I imagine pardoning him after he's left (and is effectively politically dead) was as much to avoid having the scandal of an ex president being charged with various crimes.

This might be the motivation for Pence. Having years of drawn out investigations revealing all sorts of sordid details about who knew what and when could damage the GOP for decades. Basically the taint of being involved with or even just being a "collaborator" by not saying anything might be very bad for them.

I suspect it will be a very quick flip from support to impeachment. Nobody wants to be the first mover, but as soon as a critical mass is reached nobody wants to be his last supporter either.

We are celebrating that our wonderful leader POTUS Donald Trump is safe and is free to give orders to everyone without any resistance.

Now people are planning to make POTUS Donald Trump elected to Leader of the entire World. We are so happy about his rule and we all love him so very much!

He has defeated the evil side and everything he touches turns into wealth and prosperity for everyone! There is peace for America and soon everywhere in the world.
The only people trying to discredit him are evil criminals and organisations with very dark agendas who no longer benefits from war, fake news and riots.

I think that the next step is to find and lock up everyone who was trying to orchestrate these fake evil lies.

My understanding is he can pardon anyone of any federal crime except in matters of impeachment

Here is Scaramucci trying to pretend he didn't say things that he absolutely did (skip to 19:50 for the relevant part).

He should fit right in.

His voice goes up several octaves when he lies. This guy would stink at poker.
He'll draw to much attention away from Trump. I give him four months.

Tapper crucified him in public today. With his own words and his own record.
The man has exactly zero integrity, and will obviously say and do anything for a buck.

It's like watching Dr. Oz.

Can anyone explain why Assange still insists that the Wikileaks DNC emails did not come from the Russians?

Isn't that pretty central to this whole discussion?

The leaks were appearing on RT just before Wikileaks announced them, so the Russian state media must have gotten them from the same source. It's too unlikely to be 2 different sources so close together.

That was an unplanned error which weakened the case that it was not the Russian Government. But they couldn't exactly command the state media to delay the broadcast if they purportedly knew naught of it. The Wikileaks delay caught them. No way to predict the exact delay on release if you are not in direct contact.

I'd therefore guess the GRU used a civilian cutout for both outlets. Possibly a foreign one to obfuscate the origin. Assange is not necessarily lying here. But he might be misled too. He is a bitter political foe of the Clinton's because of her position on prosecuting leaks while in the State Dept. - it's not impossible that he's tilted to the Russians like Snowden did.

This is a good question to raise though. We don't have anything definitive.

I just love how many participants seem to have some sort of truth detector that they can use to determine who is and isn't lying.

You should all be rushing to get a patent on whatever it is you're using.

If it fits your narrative, it's the truth, if it doesn't it's a lie - is that how it works???
