Why the hell am I rank grinding? Cutter or Corvette worth it?

All I can add to this thread is that the Cutter is a simply amazing ship. I didn't (don't) like the Anaconda (the cockpit view is awful, for one), nor the T-9, and based on the experience of those I was unsure about the Cutter. However, I finally made the grade a few weeks ago (after over 5 weeks of play time) and bought it. Fortunately, I'd made lots of cash during the rank progression (which wasn't a grind, I simply holed up in Wuthielo Ku and ran missions in and around that area), so could A-rate and engineer the ship straight away.

I'm not going to go into the many reasons that make the Cutter exceptional. Just know that it is worth it when you finally get one.

The passenger sightseeing missions were removed several weeks ago. When in Quince you now need to use the scan missions. There are a number of posts and YouTube clips on this.

Well not a single one showed up on any of my google searches for quince. God damnit.

Were the planetary scan missions nerfed too?

I did all the rank grind for the cutter (i'm glad i did) but i would not do it again... that's why i don't have the corvette yet.

You would be better off getting the Engineers unlocked and get a Conda and make it better than any other Ship in the game.

I have the same problem stuck at luitenant cmdr and just can't go any further it is so tedious.
In the end I don't even use the cutter because I found the cost to set it up and the rebuy that goes with that to steep.
I have the Ieagle and the clipper as my imp ships and a white t9 for trading.

Just looked up Shu Babassi in INARA and it looks (from that site) like it would be terrible. What makes it good and for what mission type if you don't mind me asking.

Alas the old rush at Shu has all but evaporated.. only a husk of what it once was. I know because I went from Baron to King in a mere day of game time.

Aye agree, i think Quince is good for some pocket change and charity rep for empire.

There's no proper gold rushes really out at the moment... Things certainly are quiet :)

I went through most places considered fast for fed ranking last week, most were meh and only gave many missions for a day or two.. It tends to be random, i even found a system in boom state with 2 boom fed factions that were giving no missions. Finally got tired of it and found a mini bubble place to just run missions for fed factions, (similar to sol or tun). Slower but more fun than logging and doing only one thing. 50% post captain atm

Sothis is fine, went from Ensign to RA in a couple of days.

!!!
How many hours of play time would you estimate?
I did Sothis for 3 days with, maybe, 7-8 hours of playtime.
Gained, in about 150 missions, 55% in total up to Ensign.

Course all these rank up places blow hot & cold mainly for BGS (and RNG) reasons I will guess.
Recently spent 3 days in Quince and it absolutely blew - many times with zero missions being offered.
I get I was just Friendly or Cordial with the Imperial factions but I get "better treatment" at any random non-friendly system.
Finally left.

The Cutter is the only of the big ships I bought two of. I has a place in the game.

One shoting trade CGs.
3 million CR trade runs.
One boost to the mailshot, perfectly.
Mass locking stuff.
Probably the best mobile home in the game.
Shield and hull tanking for when armagedon comes.

It'll become clear when your stinking rich.

;)

Lol I was thinking of purchasing a second Corvette for 2.4 when we have a bunch of new modules and weapons to engineer, make it my Thargoid slayer. My Cutter on the other hand has just been collecting dust, use to be my go to slave hauler but having like 4.6 billion in assets I don't have a need for money anymore until a bigger better ship comes out. Now the only time I ever pull the Cutter out is to go from No Reward to Top 10% on Community Events in like an hour of runs. Which I do more for the lulz than I do for the reward.

Cutter in my opinion is just not maneuverable enough, at least how I have her set up for cargo hauling. Drifts like a MF and sure she is fast on a straight but that's about all its good at from what I can tell. Prefer traveling around in my fully combat fit/engineered Corvette, sure as hell not as fast but nimble got her up to 351m/s with boost a couple days ago re-rolling the Dirty Drives.
