Links or evidence or I'll assume you're still trolling and attention seeking ;)

Well, one clue is that it was scheduled to be released in 2015. Beyond updating the number to '2016', no new info appeared last year, and nothing else happened since 2017 started. Sure, there could be a Super Secret Dev Build, but considering how they have been totally hyping non-existent stuff the past year that seems... unikely.

Didn't we all? :D

Unfortunately, yes. And after gamescon, a new generation will arrive. A generation that nows nothing of what happened before, saw some amazing trailers and is willing to back it for one or two more years. Etc.

I'm quite looking forward to Gamescon :D

CIG will no doubt have something wonderful to show us!

Key personnel are insurable. PEOPLE are a company asset. ANYTHING that is an asset is insurable. An employer can get insurance on key personnel if the loss or damage of that person or peoples would seriously impact the company.

Wait what, you bought life insurance policies on people who work for star citizen??

I've been able to get an exclusive sneak peak of their presentation, it'll put the doubters place that's for sure

Meanwhile, Sunk Cost Fallacy: The Movie -- https://robertsspaceindustries.com/...ead/what-keeps-you-motivated-for-star-citizen

Some pretty harsh things in there amidst the usual "I spent too much money" posts: "The fact that I do not want to admit to myself how gullible and stupid I was to throw more than a base package's worth out of the window for this feature-creep "project" -- I am too deep in to turn back now, and I simply cannot admit that it was probably the biggest financial mistake I ever made to fall for the lies and deceptions of CR."

"The fact that I have invested thousands into this game. But I'm done now. 3.0 has been delayed again. The summer has been wasted. I'm beyond disappointed. I didn't want to believe what people said about CR, and his history of delays, but I would be lying if I said I'm not loosing confidence in him."

No - I bet it's going to be something completely original and never done before.

Butt hugging aliens that burst out your head? Oh I know, some meta game where you play it and get recruited to fight Xur and the Kodan Alliance as the last Star fight... er citizen?

My legit expectation is that it will be some largely scripted example much like the last demo they did. I don't believe that they have the integrity to show what they've actually got.

I have absolutely no reason to disagree with you, and I have absolutely no reason to expect they will have anything at all to show. But they have had years to perfect this, and finish up all the things they were so close to completing.

That is why Gamescon will be so interesting, and the lulzbucket will be so delighted!

Woah, that's some pretty religious type comments going on there.

What keeps me motivated...easy answer...I have a life...this is only a game...patience...and you will be rewarded when it happens...I guarantee that 99% of backers would rather wait for a clean, bug free game that a traditional AAA game with allot of the great features removed

Be good, be patient, and you will be rewarded in the afterlife! And do they really think that just because its taking longer it will be bug free? LOL, this is software development.... maybe they don't understand it? :D Features removed eh... hmm... like just 5 systems instead of 100 (when the game is largely feature complete, not release, can't make the mistake of thinking that largely feature complete means close to release, that would be an error in translation!).

...and the promise and potential this game has once it gets more to a Beta state, let alone full release. Patience is a virtue and will be rewarded.

Again with the afterlife type comments.... well, i suppose at the rate development is going, this might actually be quite relevant. Assuming there is a release version of SC awaiting true believers in the afterlife.

Ouch, and comments along the lines of how they are getting their money's worth just experiencing the game development. Not the first time i've seen this.

Following SC development is the most interesting reality TV experience I've been able to find with the added benefit on not having to feel guilty about it. The entertainment value of the weekly shows is only surpassed by the lols to be had reading Spectrum posts, so there's a very good interactive part to the whole circus as well

Exactly. It may not work for everyone. But this project from a technical point of view is spectacular. To get a front row seat to the magic is a rare privilege. But I would like to add that the anticipation and fantasies about the game are a big part too. The game will never be as good as our imagination. And this lengthy process really gives opportunity to dream. Even when dreams are shattered, there is ample opportunity to build new.

The bold part is classic... like, erm... even non-backers can get to watch the "open" development as well, all without spending a penny. Erm... then, thanks backers for letting me "experience" the "magic" :D

At least that last one understand the reality will not be as good as what people imagine.

It's good to see SC supporters who are not delusional. Even the SC fan boys appear to be quiet on that reddit.

Keep reading, still plenty of true believers posting.

So, maybe nothing ready for gamescom. Surprise surprise.

Anyone want to take bets that they will show off either a scripted demo or some sort of super secret private build that is awesome and does loads of things wonderfully, but unfortunately, because reasons, they can't release yet, but just wait, its coming soon, just needs another few weeks, and by the way, here is another concept sale!

It will certainly make a mockery of those recent "we've played 3.0 and it's everything CIG promised" magazine articles if they show up at Gamescom empty handed.

There will always be "true believers". At least now we have an environment where it is acceptable to discuss different opinions without getting shouted down. That is healthy.

As for the game development, it seems that CIG / RSI / Foundry 42 (I do wish they'd settle on one name for the company) has been laying groundwork that may eventually give us a reasonably robust game. It's something they should have been doing at the start of course, but at least it is (apparently) happening now.

I can't wait to see 3.0. I want to land on the planetoids, and see if the surfaces are as impressive as we have been led to believe. And I want to see how players handle Miles Eckhart being the only mission-giver. Will there be an orderly queue of Citizens waiting to have their covert chat with Mr Eckhart? Will they be able to overhear the conversation he has with the Citizen in front of them in the queue? Will the local police force eventually get fed up with Mr Eckhart and lock him up? Will we be able to visit him in prison and get our missions from him there?

It's all terribly exciting.

Lamentations from an ex-dedicated streamer

Poor chap. I listen to all the Redacted podcasts, when I'm trying to get to sleep at night. The predictability of the content, the "nothing new"-ness makes great background noise. But it must be horribly dispiriting as a streamer to have nothing to attract viewers and listeners.

Grade A post

"I must admit I am getting a bit sick of people whining about missed dates and not being released. This is the most transparent development project I have ever observed and yet you still have a vocal group of posters demanding the release of the game. off people and let them finish the goddamn game for sake. If you want a game the go play an EA triple A game or something otherwise, quietly watch it develop and wait for the game to be finished and released. But for all that is worth while in the gaming industry QUIT YOUR WHINING! IT'S STILL IN ALPHA!"

Seems rather foul-mouthed gauged on the amount of filtering that has happened.

It is still in Alpha... yup The only two constants in SC are perma-alpha and ship sales! :)

And as I expected if a respected supporter of the game suddenly turns around and speaks his mind people very quickly distance themselves from him (oh I dont know that guy all that much) or simply claim its his own fault for backing an unfinished buggy game in the first place. Goes quite nicely hand in hand with all the "oh you dont have any investment in Star Citizen? <<dismiss whole statement>>" routine. Having "only" a couple hundred dollars invested makes you a lite backer who is of no importance and in case you are indeed one of the whales with several thousand invested and start to talk badly about the project its all your own fault. Damage control all the way.

Maybe CiGs objective for Gamescon is to not get skinned alive by disgruntled backers? I dont really believe that they have anything substantial finished that they could release. I also dont think that throwing out 3.0 in its current state will appease the angry people. It worked for 2.0 but 3.0 is a whole different beast and the landscape has changed a lot since the old days. I expect a heavily scripted on-rails promotion video together with an announcement that 3.0 will be released on the next day after Gamescon ends or "in the next few days" to keep up morale and behavior during the event. Then either come up with a lame "blocker" or "technical difficulty" excuse or go silent CRoberts style.

On behalf of another link in this thread the comment "I pay for a front seat when it comes to experiencing game development of the BDSSE live" is funny. What exactly is there that people get to experience for their investment that a "dirty hater" like myself doesnt get to enjoy? The backers learn about news like the rest of the ̶p̶̶l̶̶e̶̶b̶̶s̶ world from review sites or game magazine articles. There is no exclusive heads-up only available to backers. The ATV which backers pay for is advertised openly for everybody on the planet. Gameplay can be experienced by non-backers either through streams, gameplay videos or free weekends. What exactly is the advantage in being a backer when it comes to "open development"? People backing the game probably have the same motive as WTFosaurus who put his future on it.....trying to get a foot in ahead of the competition and establish yourself in order to be number one by the time the game releases (be it through your ships, status or by being the most known source for SC stuff) same as BoredGamer. In this regard WTOsaurus was fooled the same as the average sucker who only throws money at CiG for nothing in return. Its the potential that keep people engaged because there simply is nothing there that could convince people otherwise (content, quality, game mechanics etc)
