Going down fast? If you would have bought stock in FD exactly 1 year ago, it would have cost 180 GBX (1 pound, 80p). Today, as I write this post, it's going for 650 GBX. That's over a 360% valuation in one year.
I don't know of many stocks that can even come close. I'd say they're doing something right.
Perhaps there's a vocal part that's less than pleased, but there are a lot of us who find the game amazing and fun, despite the shortcomings. It's not perfect, but it's the best space game in existence at the moment. A lot of effort has gone into bringing it to the level it currently is.
And a healthy financial position bodes well for its future. We'll see more as time goes by, but we can also appreciate what we have.
that means then that season 3 (3.x) will be around for 3 years. 3 years of updates for a single payment unless they change the finance model from the season pass as is rumoured.
As much as some of us can be salty at times, that doesnt mean we dont love the game...I play 4 to 6 hours a day with an all nighter now and then cos Im grinding fer a few things. I wouldnt be doing that if I didnt love the game...I despise grinding with a passion but needs must, and I can assure ye, I very much love this game.
In my own way.
But...there are issues. Some of those issues have been issues fer a very long time, and with zero communication with FD past a few "no ETA no guarantee but great things are coming" sorta replies...well, the inevitable happened and patience have limits.
I say that through gritted teeth. Passion fer this game is a double edged sword and cuts both ways...the more ye love the game, the more passion ye put into how ye express that. Little issues to some become big issues and even game breaking issues to others...lest we forget, I know Ive quit playing fer 3 months before due to an issue that not that many are even aware exists, let alone comprehend.
And I know Im not the only one either...just a coincidence I came back and got re hooked but like I said, patience have limits ^
I'm in for the long haul, however long it will be. And while I am not a huge fan of how progression has been made to this point - given that Horizons first brought us dead world landings then went off on some weird tangents (SLF's, Multipew, Alien Stuff), I do like all of these, but I would have gladly waited longer for this to have more planetary options. While I'm concerned that the post-2.4 material may follow, I'm sure I will still enjoy it.
We hear people complain they think the game is going down hill because it hasn't revolved around them and their wants, and their lack of patience - that's also their problem and their opinion. I still see more players on than I care to count and I keep bringing new people to play who've fallen in love with Elite the same way I have. There are always doom-and-gloom-ers who didn't get That New Feature That Is The Only Thing They Care About and post their negativity in every single game out there. Sadly, for them, the community seldom misses them when leave.
So eyes front, chin up, forward until dawn, second star on the right.
Both Puzzle/Maths Nuts or Astrophysicists will be need to find figure this "mystery" out and it will have to be done outside of the game. The only other way is to stumble across something which is just codeword for saying that its not in the game yet or the person who found it cheated by data mining.
Those are our only choices as we dont have an in game notebook to reference let alone the tools needed to do the job. You cant play this game in VR and try to figure out these mysteries just because none of the tools needed to the job are included within the game. A simple ingame browser window would fix all this.
Urgh. I've had enough in MMOs of running around the same pointless empty rooms, and hunting for services presented as fixed NPCs. Please don't add this to Elite. Really, if you want to spend tens of minutes running around, to accomplish almost nothing, you already have X Rebirth, Star Trek Online & Star Citizen. That kind of thing is cool for the first minutes or hours, but then becomes lots of effort to do the simplest of things.First person gameplay is the most personal level of immersion. It would be awesome to see different sections of ships, explore stations, go to a space bar, board other ships. It also adds more role play opportunities.why Id wanna have legs is beyond me Im afraid
If anyone loves that kind of stuff, they can knock themselves out with No Man Sky's really long Waking Titan ARG. I'd rather get another filling from my dentist though. Please god no more coded mesaage 'mysteries'.
We talked about what's coming to 2.4 with Lavecon communications and the newsletters that followed after this, and in Zac’s post here.
The difference with 2.4 is that we're heavily focusing on the continuation of the narrative of the Thargoids and the emerging stories surrounding them. We've started to see the threads being discovered by the community in the past couple of months and 2.4 will be largely about pulling on those threads and unravelling more of the story behind them. The way that the update will be delivered won't be like any other we've done and will focus on narrative – a narrative that we certainly don’t want to spoil. For that reason, it may appear as if there’s a lack of new information about 2.4… we’ll keep things going with sneak peeks here and there, but we really want you to discover 2.4’s big secrets for yourselves.
Aside from the major update and the focus on narrative, there will obviously be improvements, bug fixes, and balancing changes to various aspects also. These will be included as part of the patch notes as usual.
Being passionate about something goes both ways. As much as I love ED, I can't help but to be concerned for its future. I do agree that we might be getting a bit over dramatic on this situation, but the fact that we don't really know what to expect is scary, it is to me..
I enjoy most of the features, I do not enjoy the bugs that come with them (I know you can't avoid them, but some could have been dealt with sooner). I do appreciate the ever growing playerbase, I do not appreciate the lack of communication between us and the devs...
Posting about our concerns here is not a question of negativity, but more in the idea of feedback. Knowing that the next step for the game is to refine the core gameplay, now would be the time to express our wishes.
Just my humble opinion.
Does that mean scripted events or actual stuff we can 'play'? Not sure if FD realise but scripted stuff ain't game.
