FDev, can I get a refund on a paint job?

Must admit some pint jobs look vibrant and full of colour in the store. As soon as you apply it to your ship it just looks dull and flat.

They just need to put the colour up of paint jobs in game.

So I'm curious, can PC players preview paint jobs before purchasing them? I assumed the integrating of the Frontier store via a WebView was a console-only "hack".

No PC players still get the same view from the frontier store. I just meant the colour profiles of the ships colour just needs tweaking.

I don't remember the name, but it looked like an "Iron Man" paint job for the Vulture. However, when applied to my Vulture, it turned it into a weird 8-bit Commodore 64 looking thing, no texture, shadow, reflection, nothing - just solid #FF0000 (with some yellow and white as well). Totally not Iron Man, unless you're talking about a Saturday morning cartoon...

Actually, that sounds perfect for me as I have quite a few of the vibrant paint jobs for my ships for no other reason than to make them look more like the ones in Amiga Elite. :)

Sorry, totally off-topic I know, but I can never resist when someone mentions Roger Rabbit. That was my first job, I was an assistant animator on that film, and it's almost exactly 30 years since I started work on it - August 10th 1987. :)

Assistant?.... pencil sharpener lol

What this game needs is a bunch of colour sliders in the outfitting screen so you can alter the hue of the original single colour paint job, I'm not sure how FD would monetise that though.

Nice idea. Potentially monetised by purchasing a 'respray' voucher from the Frontier store and redeeming in-game.

Nah, animators pencil sharpeners are electric - saves time. :p

Back on topic, I'm surprised they haven't done a pack of animal-print paint jobs - zebra stripes, leopard spots, Dalmatian dots, cow patches, etc - oh, and snakeskin of course!

Get a nice leopard print FDL then all you'd need is some fluffy dice for the cockpit.

Im running with those "synthetic" asp paintjobs out of spite because they look too..*sigh*

and like look at all paintjobs for the saud kruger ships..
those are horrifying..
just weird bouncy colors and ..
I think most would look better in a darker variant, like a black dolphin with paint or something.. the wayfarer-ones look like clothing designed for toddlers XD

Theres not a single static image that could accurately represent a paint job as a 'preview' since your ship goes through thousands of different lighting combinations at varying angles whilst out in space, flying by different stars etc.. It really never looks the same twice, except in stations / outfitting (which is awful lighting..)

It might actually look better with some paint degradation. Take the Vulture to Hutton Orbital or sth and decide afterwards.

O7,
[noob]

That you chose that paintjob to start with proves there is no accounting for taste ;)

IMO Vulture is one of the ships that undergoes the best transformations under a plain white paintjob.

Yesterday I bought a paint job that looked nice in the tiny icon I'm presented in the Frontier Store interface. As soon as I applied it to my ship, I hated it. I never would have bought it if we had a proper "preview" option to see what a paint job looks like in "real light".

So is there a mechanism to return an unwanted paint job and get those Frontier Points back? I'll happily spend those points elsewhere in the Frontier Store.

Oh, and can we have a proper "preview" feature added to store? After all, I can try on clothes at my local department store before purchasing them IRL.

1: The forum is not for that, not one bit, makes it seem like you are just wanting drama over it. unfortunately.
2: Create a ticket, explaining it, Frontier support have been VERY generous in many things I doubt this will be a problem.

Agreed. Speak to the FD support team. They are vary approachable and fair.

Completely agree - why has no-one suggested this before

Where do I go to fill out a "ticket" I keep hearing about? I'll give it a try, I just need a little direction. Thanks!

Ahhhh - literally daaaaaays ago :D

Ultimately Frontier loses, because I'll not spend another real dime for Frontier Points if this is how it is.. Engineers might be a slot machine, but the Frontier Store shouldn't be.

Seriously? A slot machine?

Of all the Vulture paintjobs, that one is the least misleading. Its not as if you can claim the hue is slightly off in the preview. You dont even need to see it in-game to know that is awful.

I agree there ought to be a camera rotating preview, much like the free cam we have already for screenshots etc.

I apologize. Sometimes things read differently than they write. In hindsight, I agree with you. Thankfully the post did lead to some helpful suggestions, particularly a link to creating a ticket.

They indeed were generous and have offered to exchange this paint job for another store item.
