FDev, can I get a refund on a paint job?

Wouldn't worry about the grumps Duck - they're not used to the ways of the PS4 forum. Sounds like they're refugees from the main forum salt mine : where lives are short and excessively salt-laden ;)

I quite like the particular Vulture paint job in question but completely agree that the store thumbnails are rubbish and can in no way be considered a "preview".

It's a lot like the pictures of burgers as you walk in to McDonalds.

Sorry, totally off-topic I know, but I can never resist when someone mentions Roger Rabbit. That was my first job, I was an assistant animator on that film, and it's almost exactly 30 years since I started work on it - August 10th 1987. :)

10th today, Happy Bunniversary!

I reckon if we could preview all the various paint jobs and ship kits directly from inside outfitting FD would make a lot more money...
Or exactly the opposite, much LESS money given the OP's experience. I second with "Cutter Vibrant paint pack" which under game lightning is ANYTHING but "VIBRANT".

I'd love to see a proper preview in the in-game outfitting screen. They do this for Holo-Me tatoos and etc, so why not for ship paintjobs.

Don't think so - the in-game previews are for things you have already purchased / are free - so not so much use when purchasing. Would be nice if they allowed preview and then took you to the store once you decided what you wanted.

The PS4 Frontier store is a real mess in my opinion, lets hope it will be improved at some point.

Which is stupid and makes the purchase process unnecessarily convoluted and should be fixed. There's also slim chance that seeing the poor quality in actual game environment they would improve them. I like the idea of an unsaveable preview redirecting to store as an intermediate step, though.

If you buy the vibrant paint pack, you should pretty much expect to receive a joke, whatever form it comes in ;)

I grew up loving that movie. My whole family really has. Thank you and your colleagues for a great job!

I had to buy the vibrant paint pack to achieve a look similar to the military packs preview. The 'vibrant' red is in fact dark, like blood in RL.. whereas the military (or tactical) red is barely distiguishable from graphite in most lighting.

not knowing what my ship will end up looking like is what has kept me from buying much of anything from the store. if i dont know what im getting, im not going to bother getting it. if you want to rake in the money a little faster, might be a good idea to improve the previews.

What I find strange is that, for me, the previews are pretty much what my ships end up looking like in-game. Certainly if I'm in a red dwarf (or any non-white-coloured) system I expect things to look different, after all the colour of the lighting will change the perceived hue of the ship, but in lighting conditions that match Sol standard, the ships look exactly as pictured. It might be a nice extra to have the ability to switch the lighting hue for the displayed ship skins just to see what that banana yellow skin looks like under a brown dwarf, for example, but I don't see FDev as deliberately misleading anyone on the skin colours they are selling.

Phew....good thing I'm not generally a fan of flashy paint jobs. I prefer the duller/more natural red.

While I respect your PvP knowledge StiTch, your fashion sense is off by miles if you don't see that the cutter NEEDS flashy paintjobs ;-) And the chrome one is awful. Gold one would be great, the more BLING BLING the better ;-) And wood/leather finishings in cockpit! ^_^

I tend to put the tactical ice paint job on my imperial ships, less glare-y than the factory look.

sigh... It is as blasphemous as this one.

Excuse me, I'll have you know I resemble that remark!

Wait...*ahem*

My iCutter incidentally uses the chrome finish, so yes, I have the bling. I don't think it's that bad at all.

Plus, it's called the "Disco Infernal"...on account of being a massive chrome blob that fires multiple lazorz. Can't take its namesake away from it </3
