Exactly what? That wasn't what people where talking about. The question was who has the majority of players in the poll out of Open, PG or solo, and the answer is Open. The poll wasn't who plays in open and who doesn't.

The survey shows that amongst those surveyed, more people don't play open than those that do, so I'd argue that no, it's not.

Lord... The majority of people polled do not play open. Nothing more to discuss. Why do you find it so difficult??? Open had the most players but not the majority!

The poll also says that most people don't play in solo and that most people don't play in group. Maybe we should get rid of all of them as obviously they all so unpopular there is no point in keeping the game going.
What the poll says is that of the three groups open is the most popular out of the people that voted. That is a fact and you can't get away from that. The poll is not about who plays in open and who doesn't.
But that is not what the poll is about. Can't you understand that basic logic. I don't dispute what you are saying, but the poll is not about who plays in open and who doesn't. It shows how many players play the most out of open, PG and solo and that was open. Stop trying to change the meaning of the poll.

I said that the majority of people voted open over PG and solo (not combined). This is a fact that you cannot get away from.
Meaning of the word majority is greater number. Open had the greater number over solo and PG in the poll.

OP, I'm sorry we derailed your thread. I'm really sorry if we made these forums look as bad or worse than Reddit. In fact, you are entitled to your opinion on anything and though I may disagree with it, I won't stay quiet if people won't let you have it.
Having said that, I think you should have realised that Reddit (regardless of comparative toxicity) is not by any means a fair subset of Elite players. You mostly play on PC and you're mostly into PvP. I'm sure that the poll was spread wider than that but unless you posted it here on an official forum, it's not valid. For instance I could make a similar poll on the Hutton Truckers or Mobius forums... I can assure you the results would be a lot different... But no more valid of course.
I don't discount your work, but claiming it's representative of the community is irresponsible at best. It *is* probably representative of the /r/elite or whatever, but you should have made it clearer in the title. You may... though not necessarily, have prevented the derailing

To be fair if you read what he wrote he does explain that even though the study is imperfect it definitely gives insight. And he gives reasons which validate his point.
It wouldn't be any more valid posted here. This forum represents only a tiny slice of the overall playerbase as well.
Also, regarding the supposed reddit PvP slant, the poll did show that the most popular play style was explorer.
...just sayin.
Except it was posted on several Facebook groups (EDC, Mobius and Hutton Truckers at least) so it probably is a bigger sample set than just Reddit. Certainly I completed it and I only browse the Star Citizen subredit for lols.
