Barely back in the saddle (seat) a week and idiots strike

Chain interdiction was the exact scenario Sandro Sammarco gave as an example of when to use the block function.

Chain interdiction is required because pirates can't force traders to give up cargo. The option is to outright destroy them, or keep chasing and hope to get cargo.

This isn't abuse. Abuse would be the pirate continuing to target the same trader after successfully extracting cargo - in the same period of time.

Nobody (AFAIK) is throwing the word abuse around as a relevant term for what the OP is talking about here except you. Gunnet used it to describe people being rude in comm, which is an accurate use of the word but he wasn't talking about chain interdicting he was giving an example of misuse of an ingame tool.

If you want to argue about how you personally define abuse you'll have to do it on your own as I don't give a fig.

According to the lead designer of the game chain interdiction (as described in the OP), is a problem that can be countered with the block function.

Haha... Did you think this was Elite: Safe Spaces? Why would you even bother playing in Open if you're going to whine about getting interdicted? I mean you didn't even get destroyed. You should be happy that something exciting happened and you lived to tell the tale.

Who said anything about attacking and killing a player? This thread is specifically about chain interdicting somebody without attacking them.

Only Frontier can make the call as to where legitimate hostile interaction crosses the line and becomes harassment, which is exactly why we have a report function. In my opinion, persistently chain interdicting somebody while (and only while) following them from system to system is very likely to cross that line.

I would encourage anybody who feels genuinely bullied or harassed to utilise the in-game report function, as filing a report in good faith can not be abuse.

Hahaha... this can't be a serious post, right? I mean if someone is chain interdicting, then... I don't know... jump to another system? This game seems to attract the helpless.

Read the post again while keeping in mind what you said about jumping to another system.

The kiddies will always bleat like baby sheep when someone posts a negative forum post about being interdicted pointlessly. I mean come on this is a free world and people are allowed to post what they want as long as forum rules are not broken. These nay sayers just turn the forum toxic! They demand to be IGNORED!

Even with a wake scanner all you have to do is jump 2 systems and never see your attacker again. By the time the wake scanner has finished and you are being followed you are already counting down to next jump, by the time the attacker gets into the system there is no other wake signal to follow.. so i would presume that being followed system to system and chain interdicted is a moot point entirely.

You are only in danger if you lurk in the system from the 1st jump point, not the 2nd or any after that.. so keep enough fuel in tanks and when running do atleast 2 jumps to differing systems.

I can only speak for myself but I find the advice and opinions of Sandro Sammarco a lot more compelling and convincing than yours. He is the games lead designer after all, whereas you are sulking because they took your exploited modules away.

That made me chuckle, or almost choke on me breakfast..either way the closing sentence got me. I would have banned them for life not just taken their toys away but that's another thread/salt mine operation altogether.

As for the OP, and no not read the whole thread as with these sort of threads you sort of know what to expect, as others have said when one encounters an A hole, or two in this case just block them, thus you won't encounter them and you can carry on and meet the sort of people you want to meet whilst enjoying the playing mode of your choice.

There's quite a lot to unpack in this comment. It manages to convey a logical statement about being above point scoring and relying on developer guidance, and then wrapping it in childish point scoring. That's very clever. Well done.

As a side note, sandy brought us healing beams, machine gun plasma cannons - and engineers, so as much as the developer is quite capable, doesn't mean they can't make mistakes. Just something to remember. Fly safe, CMDR.

Uh no.... High wake to another system and then low wake within about 10 seconds of arrival. End of chase.

Does that actually work now? In all fairness it was well over a year ago but that wouldn't work back then. I played cat and mouse with a Clipper for 20 mins (I was being hunted) Dropping out of SC after the high wake, the Cmdr was still able to find my low wake. Eventually lost him though, was good fun.

So, I hadn't been back into this big ol universe for months until about a week ago, and I decided to play on PC instead of Xbox One for a change.

I also decided to play mostly in open and was building myself a pretty sweet Asp Explorer to spend a bit of time exploring. No sooner had I grabbed a couple of meta-alloys to boost my FSD when a couple of goons in anacondas decide to repeatedly interdict me. One even reassured me they weren't going to attack me.

They may have been telling the truth because they didn't even manage to scratch me either time but why do other players insist on completely ruining the experience for others? I am flying a completely defenceless (albeit fast and manouverable) ASP X, was carrying no cargo and was purely looking to upgrade my FSD. In simple terms, I am of no interest to anyone in my current state.

As I said, barely a week back and I'll be steering clear of open from now on.. moan, moan, moan.

A little too much sodium chloride.

Making mistakes is an accidental understandable thing that happens to everyone, cheating for months in secret whilst criticizing the legit player-base for not being good enough doesn't really qualify for the "whoops I made a boo boo" excuse.

I was just about to suggest giving your thread a once-over. Very helpful info. And fun wallowing in PvPer salt. :)

I really dislike people like you. Maybe those interdictors were trying to pirate, maybe they just wanted to goof off (I've interdicted just to spam the other player with messages about worshipping the Thargoids as our true masters). Or maybe they did just want to blow him up (he could even be a different faction, ie feds killing imps, imps killing feds, etc). But just outright blocking cause of being interdicted? Just how much of a carebear / cowardly pilot are you?
