Actually, no it is not, and I did not say that. I said those in the 'hardcore pvp community'. And if you were around then and checked reddit, you would have seen most of the known PvP groups whining and complaining and threatening to never play again. I always played in Open and never took serious out-of-game shots at them, but I was shocked to see the extent of the cheating. I have no idea how the 'casual PvP player' did by comparison, but the organised groups by and large were filled to the brim with cheaters. Most of them complaining how they had to do do it to remain competitive because of the grind and all that.

Because we all know you need god-rolls on your cutter to kill a T7 at a CG.

Personally I don't use block at all. I did once, then changed my mind. If I get killed by another commander, it's my fault.

And I see lots of people in both Open and Mobius, so I really don't think there's a problem.

Nah, it's just a video game people play for fun block whoever you like whenever you like for whatever you like. Or not it's entirely up to the individual player.

You know, in Eve (Im raking up a huge word count on the word Eve!!!) we would often be camped in for weeks by war'ing factions, i cannot even begin to imagine how some of you guys would cope with that, the reports for harassment, no way to block them, you'd give up!

Anyway, this is not Eve, this is ED, i can think of so many ways not to be chain interdicted: the most potent of which being...Switch to Solo for a few jumps? Honestly the whinge about non-issues astounds me. Worst thing Sandro ever did was make those comments for the pacifists to twist to their own agendas.

There are so many games where griefing and harassment are real issues with no quick fix, i think some of you lot need to take a step back and realise how easy you have it in ED.

Its ironic you know, never have i seen a community throw the words "Griefer" and "Harrassment" around so freely, when infact i've never seen a game with not only so little of it, but where its so easily avoided.

Come on, you know the answer to thatone: jump clones.
The longest you could possibly be camped in was 24 hours, the cool down period for clone jumping.
Nobody was "camped in for weeks" unless they chose so themselves.

Your reading comprehension is a bit weak.

I said that blocking should be ONLY used towards someone who is being cancerous in the game chat or outside of the game context, rather than blocking people just because they killed you.

I'm with you. Playing with the possibility of running into other CMDRs is just dull. Even seeing a hollow box on the radar creates a thrill.

Combat logging and blocking people who haven't harassed you is bunk.

Playing with the possibility of being killed for nothing more than a cheap thrill is one reason many do not play in open. Make fun of it all you will.

So sick and tired of people here trying to tell people how to play this game, when ultimately it has nothing to do with them. If I want to block idiots from my game, I will do so, and I do not require anyone's permission to do so. I can't stop those who wish to ruin other people's game by hiding behind the facade of 'Open World' and 'Play it your way' - but I sure as hell am not going to allow myself to be their content - unless I choose to do so. And choosing to play in open is not giving permission, no matter how many times certain people keep trying to convince us otherwise.

In a sense it does, of course. If you block someone who wants to shoot you, they cant shoot you. The irony being that they justify their behavior with the 'its not against the rules'. Which puts them in a bit of a tough spot here because the block feature is not just 'not against the rules', it has been specifically designed for this.

It does have rules mostly in peoples heads, if they didn't enjoy playing with you or feel you violated those rules they may block I am super comfortable with that.

wrong. braben said open isnt pvp mode. its supposed to be a pve mode with player interaction OCCASIONALLY with some player combat. it was never ever meant or designed as a shoot em up game.
