So CIG has figured out all release date carrot thing isn't really working neither for backers or for them anymore.

I wouldn't be suprised 3.0 just dumped upon crowd in terrible broken state to end suffering of fake tele novella "will they/won't they" drama.

So from the difference checker,a few notable comments

Changing fog in stations
Adding destructible doors for boarding
Adding more missions
Adding more surface content
Character customisation delayed again because team shifted to other areas (bug fixing)
(Still) beginning process of converting ships to Item 2.0.

"We've removed release dates to give you a more accurate look at development."

Oh brother...

I can only guess from that that the delays are going to keep coming for some time, because if it was likely to be released fairly soon there'd be little reason to remove the dates. Must be horrible for the devs.

I like this guy. He used to do this kind of stuff for Elite Dangerous. I wonder what happened? :D

The game released commercially and after about a year, he stopped doing videos on the game. Without speaking to them directly it would guessing as to why. Perhaps he prefers to be the "revealer of the new game" and not one of many commentators on a solid released product, who knows?

The ships section of his website covers four of the most "not released and full of theory crafting" ships in the SC catalog, so maybe he prefers the dream to the reality?

So, in spite of the removing of aim dates, we know they have reduced the number of bugs stopping them from Evocati release from 100 to 83. If they keep it up, we will have the Evocati release in five weeks. Then two weeks for the testing by those guys, two weeks for PTU, and finally, a full 3.0 release in nine weeks, that is, in the first week of October. 13 months from the Gamescom 2016 announcement, 10 months from the release date promised at said Gamescom, three months from the release date in the original schedule.

That's very optimistic. I doubt it will be released this year. I suspect they'll start talking about SQ42 or something else now to distract from the major 3.0 issues.

How much you want to bet on that that those bugs are most likely big feature show stoppers dropped with acknowledgement that it is impossible to fix them in nearest future?

Additional bet: how much do you want to bet that the 'character customization' devs moved to general bugfixing will return and finish the character creator anytime soon? :p How much of this editor have we seen? And if it gets dropped, doesnt that mean it was just the usual "if another sci-fi game releases a character creator we must announce a similar but better one too!" moment we've all come to know and love?

This always confuses me: How are people, fans or critics, able to guess how much time it will take until a certain version will be released? What is the information basis for these estimates?

That would be unfortunate, since its not hard to imagine people have given CIG money based on what they saw of the character customization.

There are no estimates, they have never stuck with their releases dates or deadlines, or even stuff that's few days from releasing just disappears.

That's why there are mostly wide speculations and those speculations mostly are about CiG crashing and burning. That's how unreliable CIG has been so far.

There is a new piece of evidence supporting the assertion that yes, I'm very, very stupid. It turns out that first bug counter in the last schedule had 90 bugs, not 100, and that means that CIG has managed to reduce the number of bugs by 7 in the first week. If they keep the rate up (and I'm sure they won't, as some bugs might take more than a week to resolve, so there might be a spike in fixed bugs later), it would take them 11.85 weeks, or pretty much three months, to fix enough bugs for the Evocati release. Evo and PTU would take an another month, so it turns out that Chris Roberts might be right - 3.0 is CIG's end of the year release. It's a shame he didn't specify which year did he have in mind.

Latest schedule is out. They've removed the estimated release date. Looks like still a way off too. I'll go 2018 :)

I guess some at CIG got very upset with this animation the Goons cooked up:
