I'm certainly not complaining; ED has amply repaid my initial $105.00 investment with almost 3000 hours of quality entertainment, and I still feel like I have much to discover. I'm just under no illusions about the future prospects of the game.
Somehow I doubt FD would have their first FD expo with ED being front and center if they had no major plans for it. I dont think you need to suffer under illusions or be incredibly naive to come to that conclusion. So lets just wait to see what they announce, eh?

If 3.0 actually turns out to be a thing I'll happily admit on this forum that my cynicism was misplaced. Before that, though, it will have to be proven to me that 2.4 isn't just Thargoid USS's populated by pushover NPC's in funny looking ships. In other words: baby steps
Not hyped, If with 2.4 frontier can't convince me that they start doing thing right way and not MVP i will probably stop following the forums. 2.3 beta and launch showed how little frontier understand players and their game that i stopped playing. There is too many good games to play. I have always been on/off player but 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 all have killed my interest to elite like no update before those. With out the distant stars i would probably stopped last fall.
The only update to have been justifiably hyped was planetary landings .... the first one was an amazing experience. Then there was fun in the SRVs ......
But after that, although there have been a lot of improvements and also add-ons that could arguably have been excluded, such as Engineers and Multipew (depending on your point of view .... see I can wax poetic too ! ), there has been a steadily decreasing sense of hype at each update.
Ed & Sandro & company are hyped because it is their job to be hyped at this stage. If they weren't, the game would be in dire straits, but it doesn't mean the rest of us can't take a more objective viewpoint

Well, as I've said earlier: 2.0 was the Big Update, and then we got four smaller updates. So i'll judge it on that: 2.4, will be a $5-$10 DLC basically, and I am quite sure I'll get my money's worth. Again.
I am also quite sure it wont be the second coming of Christ.
I'm hopeful (beyond reasonable expectations), but not hyped. So many of the recent releases have proven to be disappointing to me, mostly because of the focus on combat. For example, as a solo player, I have no interest in multi-crew. While I've used engineers, they are far more annoying than fun. The list goes on and on.
I enjoy the game, but it feels like FD is targeting a player that is very different from me.

You think 3.0 won't be a thing? Frontier just received $23 million from Tencent. If you thought Braben will take the money and let his baby die, you probably would've left already.

Waiting is exactly what one is doing...just waiting silently because otherwise it's just plain vexing as thread after thread goes Pete tong and turns into an echo chamber. Not only is there absolutely nothing to get excited about, let alone hopeful...but there's absolutely naff all to talk about either.
Even brans and usual weekend thread was kicked into off topic...sign of the times perhaps.
I genuinely wish I had been here when things were better...that might have meant I had more enthusiasm than I feel at this present time. I felt less indifferent when I was playing andromeda because I knew I would be back...not so sure about that anymore.
On the plus side, I've stayed off the forums as well, more or less...glass half full and all that ^
