Elite: Dangerous - Jerk Moves - Ep. 5 - Pestering!

The hell is the point of that?

I never said there was a point, just that you could force being left alone and still be in open mode. Simple (relatively) matter of blocking the ports that the game tries to use for the P2P connections.

Also an easy way to scam the system should FD give open mode increased payouts for stuff. Just change some settings and profit in peace.

Fortunately, my FDL is usually enough to keep most other people away from me. Makes them think I'm big and scary and going to pew-pew them. I never do, but still kinda fun to watch the reactions.

That sounds kinda cheaty/exploity. No thanks.

First, FD hasn't done anything to Open mode yet, so this is all academic.
Second, I am not encouraging this, just stating it is a method that could be used with relative ease.
Third, even if FD makes Open missions and stuff worth more, AND if they say doing this is an exploit, I have a feeling enforcement will look a lot like the CLogging enforcement. Which looks like UN resolutions and sanctions, all bark and no bite.

Note to everyone: I am NOT encouraging anyone to use an exploit like CLogging! Post is purely academic in nature and is not an endorsement or suggestion of any kind.

Also, why CLog when you can just set 4 pips to sys and start the graceful exit timer upon the interdiction starting and have tons of laughs when your would-be killer/griefer/pirate accuses you of CLogging.

Don't knock PvP Piracy. It's an actual thrill to take something from another player. There's practically nothing else like it in gaming. Practice your moves in Solo, then head out into the larger world.

Believe it or not playing the victim can also be fun but not so much if the "pirate" attacks with no comms. Playing cat and mouse with pirates is a laugh as a trader but only if you know your losses are not going to be too high (I.e. a percentage of your cargo). Being attacked by over whelming force, especially as a in experienced combat pilot, is not a thrill. Would be nice for players to consider the enjoyment of all rather than only the enjoyment of themselves.

If you don't send out any comms, how does the person you just interdicted know you're not just out to blow him up?
To be fair, I've gotten "pirate comms" from players who laid into me without hesitation. One FDL was so packed with SCB's and hull reinf's there was no room left for a cargo hold and I was in a D-rated T-7 full of superconductors.

With piracy, as with all things, there is a minority who ruin everything for the rest. I hope the C&P systems addressees this, but honestly there is no system Frontier can introduce to stop one player, who just doesn't give a damn, from ruining your game play.

Blocking a player after being screwed over is akin to shutting the gate after the horse has bolted.

I assume that our real-life C&P system is the only thing between you and stealing real things from other people. You can say "I'm just role playing" all you like, but being thrilled by stealing what you didn't earn from people who did is a feeling I will never recognise.

Haha, are you a meme-bot?

You got me! If it weren't for Elite Dangerous I'd be all Robert DeNiro in "Heat"

You do have an obscenely large ego OP, that sadly I feel is not all that warranted.

This is merely an observation though of course, the game is there to play as anyone chooses....
