Elite: Universe - We need a new Elite

Arent you asking for a new game though?

Yes, but why point me away from FD?

It should be in the ToS that users should not recommend other games that are not developed by FD. People should not be able to advertise non-FD games.

Everyone has their own wants and desires for a game.
Personally, I don't want what your asking for, and respectfully request that FD don't implement those things.

It wouldn't impact ED. Continue playing it. Those who like the idea of Elite: Universe will play it, as well as ED.

You missed his point - he is asking for separate Elite game, not implementation of those mechanics in this version.
Right, and in what world could FD start a parallel development path for an entirely new space game, and have it not impact the development of the current game?
The development pace of the existing ED is already slow enough.
So my vote is still no to what he's asking for.

That's why I said a new kickstarter/development team needs to be created. Do people not read posts critically?!

This game you describe probably wouldn't be to my taste, although I'd certainly give it a go. This plan is completely pie-in-the-sky though. FD aren't going to develop another Elite game alongside the existing one, that would make no commercial sense whatsoever.

Maybe check out that game Hellion that's in beta at the moment, seems to have some of the survival aspects you talk about within a space setting.

Crowdfunding is usually for new companies to raise money for their first product. FD are past that stage.

Recommending is not advertising.

People do.
It's just that you seem to be naive enough to think this is possible without there being any impact to the current ED project.
Companies don't just create completely siloed divisions when they can reuse existing resources.

But hey, you're free to ask what you wish. It's not the craziest idea posted on this forum. Though I'd still be willing to bet a years salary that this never happens.

Yes that is where I was going

Seems like it is "I like and I want ED but I want changes made to my liking and I want it to be an entirely separately developed version just for my vision"

Wut?

People do.

That's your opinion, anyway. They're like holes in Asps and elbows. Everyone has one.

the game you describe would work only as single player(with the time black magic near black holes for example) and as of now, i doubt we have the technology(read strong enough personal computers) to do most of the wishes you could have. And i doubt many would buy such a "hardcore realistic expirience" since it would be simply too hard, Not to mention that FDev still needs to fix(and is fixing) many of the aspects of Elite:Dangerous

"The commander should not be impervious and needs to be fragile as every other human. Yes, this includes commander maintenance. You need food. You need to poop. And you need to water the flowers. The effects of zero-g should have an impact on the commander's ability to operate. Even space madness should be a factor if you're out in the black alone."

I stopped reading here, this shouldn't be a survival game, we shouldn't need to eat, poop, drink, if it was added as an option to do to add immersion I'd be all for it but, I'd hate to be on my way some where and boom I forgot to poop and eat

I don't think the devs would create a space survival game, they have more important things to work on and who would play the exact same game but more the grind is even more tedious the game would fail

All you need are some backers, planners, programmers, sales, physical location and equipment, time and a few other items. Then you can have your game.

In the meantime, you have to make do with all the rest of us.

I just thought the community would appreciate knowing that I didn't waste my life reading this whole thread before posting on it.

Some like it hard. And I have an idea on how to handle the temporal effects. Things might suddenly change under you, though; such as your hull becoming mysteriously damaged and a log entry showing that you collided with an asteroid when you don't remember.

Why are those averse to any change to ED the first to respond? I'm not even asking for a change to ED, but a new game called Elite: Universe! lol

Fair enough, but I doubt I'd buy or play it. I don't want E: D to be too much of s simulator. Though I do like that FD regularly update the galaxy based on new data - I love the fact that we can visit many of the star systems that astonomers are looking at currently. I like the gamey side of E: D, and probably wouldn't enjoy it so much if that were lost.

Suggestion taken. But why wouldn't you think there wouldn't be facilities on the ship or food in the storage? And as far as development, I'm already recommending a separate team to make the game. And who said anything about grind? Why would there be grind in a scientifically accurate game?

Granted, this game wouldn't be for everyone, but there are some who would love such a game, who would fly out to a star/system/asteroid to see for themselves scientific discovery made in the real world.
