Actually, aliens for the demo is a possibility. High hype factor without needing to actually show anything that will appear in the PU any time soon. Plus ED will have them, so SC must as well!

They did that last year though! Absolutely enormous (if you have no idea of scale) alien ships stalking through a canyon, with the (completely original) Predatoralike standing by a torch and going "Yaargghhh!" - all in a segment very honestly captioned as Vandull.

Many thousands of people saw the live broadcast, many giggled. Attempts of CIG trying to clean it up then simply lead to more giggles - and they ended up removing the entire thing, and eventually replacing it with a heavily edited version. Those who saw it, will remember seeing it :D

The funny thing is, with the amount of money they pulled in, he could have walked up to EA and buy the rights to the Kilrathi probably. Then again, we all remember what he did to the Kilrathi in the WC movie...

Pure fidelity right there! Buy an Idris!

Shrimp in power armor, if you ask me :D Though that dude on the right has a bit of TMNT 2 Splinter in him. And thinking back,we should be lucky Honest Roberts did not design SC after the movie. The Russian sub feel was funny, but annoying.

Wondering about what might be announced at Gamescom, and given the recent announcements about the Mobiglass interface.... Having already reinvented Reddit as Spectrum, perhaps they could announce a real-life Mobiglass?

It it would have to be a concept sale of course, at a reduced price of only (say) $2,000 for cash. It would have all the functionality of an iPhone, but would have RSI branding on the strap and full integration with Spectrum built in. So the loyalest of CIG fans and would be able to keep up with what's happening with their org while in the checkout queue at the supermarket.

I see a vast untapped market, as there was for the (sadly abandoned) Saitek joystick with CIG branding. Much marketing and many dollars. No need to actually develop it yet - it won't actually be needed until the game comes out, when we are *all* pushing 70.

I fully expect them to examine what ED is bringing out in the 2.4 update and swiftly put together a very nice video showing that SC will have the same but with much more fidelity.

They actually on it since beginning of the year. But yeah, totally expecting this to happen and it is a bit pathetic. If that would be nice jab at FD or CIG would have actual smart marketing sense that would be even funny. But I expect them to double down on non-existing alien language, etc. etc. stuff. Good thing FD does it hard sci-fi, which doesn't appeal to CIG and Chris. So it is different enough already.

We'll they'll probably have some new missions ready so I expect it will be one of those set up so it can be played "live". The mission will be a reworking of a classic situation from a scifi film. Maybe the character in a ship dropping to a planet surface to investigate a colony (Aliens). It'll look fairly good but once shown will mysteriously never appear in game for at least a year.

According to Boredgamer (here) the current plans for 3.0 to be in the hands of the player is 4-6 weeks (so sometime in September)...

He's also laughingly mentioned Star Citizen Beta  Let's just try to get Alpha out of the door eh? He mentions moar Concept Ship Sales (TM) Also teasing about the "Gamechanging" ship that will be released. He said he won't talk about it until CIG releases information on it, so he clearly already knows about it.

Watch the vid in the link if you want your morning dose of Lulz :D (edit:typo!)

I don't entirely get how he manages to pretend to be anything more than a salesman.

Anyhow I guess that's burst their "big surprise" bubble that was forming over on Reddit - a new ship for sale it is. Well stone the crows it's revolutionary! A ship sale in time for a big presentation. Who could have thought it. Also maybe this is going to be the Beta soon and the MVP is closer than ever? They've been banging the "enough content in one system for a BILLION normal AAA games" drum for a long time now

It's perfectly normal that almost 7 years into development this pre-alpha (PRE-ALPHA! not even regular alpha, nevermind beta) game is selling pictures of spaceships for real money even though it appears to have a scope and feature set which changes month by month according to their funding and the whims of a washed-up thumb man who hasn't made been involved in game development for over a decade (and even then he failed).

But keep forking over your money fools. Crobber demands it.

well he pretends to have contacts in CiG and also gets support from them with hand-outs and insider informations. Just like CRoberts claims to create a game he can claim everything he wants, there certainly is no evidence for any of it. His videos are very annoying old-vid-in-the-background runs where he talks and talks about everything that happened (or didnt) in the last 24 hours picking up every little morsel of info to sell it as "exclusive information". Basically he copied the ATV format to an "i". Talking and showing nice pictures. Most of what he claims is theoretical or made-up fantasy gameplay but people cherish him on so he does.

We have streamers like WTFosaurus who stated on record that he never got any support in any way from CiG and feels basically ignored even tho he dedicated most of his days to the "cause". And that he did. I was convinced he was a paid shill for the amount of streams in the same old 5 min content he brought to the table and his attitude was always chirpy and upbeat. Now he says that was a personal decision and what can I say...I tend to believe him. On the other hand you have BoredGamer who does way less then WTFosaurus did with less effort and less entertainment factor yet THIS GUYS is rumored to be CiGs favorite?

I m not buying it. Not until he delivers real exclusive info. Right now all hes doing is rehash rumors and bringing up conclusions. None of his "predictions" are far-fetched and considered a safe bet among knowing people (more concept sales....YOU DONT SAY????) and of course he wont say anything about the new ship until CiG does, he doesnt know anything. BoredGamer for me is on par with CRoberts when it comes to facts and credibility. He might be a private person just trying to squeeze the gullies for a lil more and earning off their easily manipulated minds, he might not.

I m just saying, we have the CEO of said company on record making bold claims as to patch dates, content production and whatnot all proven to be lies or wrong in hindsight....why should I believe anything a nobody with no official ties to CIG has to say?

I don't believe him for a second. He's sat there and done the same boring things over and over and over again in Star Citizen for thousands of hours. He never had many viewers, and didn't even seem to be enjoying it. If he wasn't being compensated he's wasted an incredible amount of time for nothing. I'd rather believe he was either paid (directly or through a third party) or being given ships to flog on the grey market, because the alternative is he's got some kind of problem and that's just tragic.

Meanwhile, on reddit, thread getting upvoted about how they shouldn't be calling the proceedural planets procedural, they should be called handcrafted.

Seriously, you can't make this up. This is really strong denial.

Its ok SC fans to have procgen planets. It really is. Its a good idea! 100% handcrafted would have meant the game releasing in... well... never. They could have stuck with 100% handcrafted with limited landing locations, but yeah, even CIG realized that was a bit pants. Like many of CRs wonderful ideas, not everything is practical or... wonderful.

So its fine to have them procgen, and then slap down POIs that are handcrafted. ED does it this way, and i know, i know, you don't want to be compared with ED after all the putdowns you've put against ED over the years, and how SC will kill it.

Yes, ED doesn't have many handcrafted locations, a lot of it is assisted along by the procgen. But there is a bit more scale difference between ED and SC. Its going to be hard for CIG to handcraft all that, FD simply can't afford that option, and not just financially, it would take decades or centuries to do for ED. But with 5-10 systems at... erm.. some point, and 100 systems at some vague point further in the future, you have a chance of this.

And if CIG has the time to manually craft hundreds or thousands of POIs on a planet, that's cool. But you still don't get to call the whole thing handcrafted, because that's complete nonsense.

What's the point in arguing? It's what it is and what someone believes they may call it doesn't really matter. Stuff like that only distracts from the hard facts.

Bit premature to be talking about anything being gamechanging when the game barely exists, and what there is of it is buggy and boring.

yeah but unfinished or non-existent games are the easiest to change. Just look how much changed in SC while it's not been out... the focus, the scope, the engine, half the development staff...

Thats exactly it tho. If he was being compensated for wasting his time in doing mundane and boring stuff he wouldnt turn around and blame CiG if he ever stopped. It seems rather that he spoke out of real disappointment turning "bitter". Of course it could be that he mixed financial and personal interest but I doubt it. If he really never was paid for what he did then I can understand him giving up and speaking out truthfully in the end.
