Yep I'd be all for that. Only change I'd add to that is we could have one commander per mode, but that's the mode the commander would belong to.

Heh, i think i can guaratee Open PvP would become pretty much barren. I don't really have time to cater for multiple CMDR slots. I suspect many don't. So if forced to make a choice, rather than change depending on mood....

I don't know. I'd be in the "PvP Enabled" Open and that's about all the time I'd have. I imagine anyone interested in pvp would as well (including those who just want the danger of it). Then again, I don't have access to the numbers so you could be right. Thing is though, there'd be a lot less complaining about digital violence.

4 modes, Open PVP, Open PVE, PG's and Solo. Then everyone will be happy they can play where they want and how they want as the game was advertised. Restricting everyone to open as some want or making it a solo game as I saw mentioned only suits certain people. FD cannot appease everyone as we clearly see, but they try to do what they can.

Agreed. Frontier have done well to recognise diversity.

Cheers, Phos.

I think if " open pvp" was default it would be more popular. I think if "open pve" was default mode it would be more popular.

I think you fall short. All of you.

Picture this. All, all at once, same time reverence, at the same place.

No instances, no splitting. No time zones, no nonsenses.

How you cope?

Think freedom, think Konflikt.*

Is that a CG?
(trying to help you along)

*not a Troll

Nope. I'm still playing Solo. Always will.

Sure, its just guessing, but considering what we see on the forums and polls, I think i might be right. I don't think many people who are not interested in PvP play for the danger of being PvP'd upon.

Yet for some reason there are those who feel that we do feel that we want to be preyed upon by PVPers for some strange reason.

I seriously think that is what some want.... >.>

Wanting is not getting - and if they didn't manage to persuade Frontier to change course during early development then there's a vanishingly small chance (in my opinion, at least) of it happening well over two and a half years post release.

Frontier's published game design information at the start of the Kickstarter offered the single shared galaxy state, three game modes and mode mobility - which they have gone on to develop and deliver.

(not that the addition of Offline mode to the scope halfway through the Kickstarter and its subsequent cancellation prior to launch should be forgotten, of course).

So I returned to the game about a month ago (founder backer, premium beta and last played shortly after launch). Rejoined Mobius PvE group and had fun doing CGs, missions, pursuing some engineering (unlocks etc.)... a bit of everything.

Yesterday I decided to farm mats for a grade 5 FSD range mod. I read on the forums here that switching modes can enhance the drop rates of datamined wake exceptions so I went to good old Jameson Memorial (good traffic usually in that area) and scanned away.
Switched from Mobius to solo, then switched to open and -sure enough- it did not even take 15 minutes until I was blown to smithereens by a CMDR who basically one-shot me in my unarmed (except the wake scanner ;) ), exploration-focused, low-shielded AspX and no I did not have a bounty or anything. It was a complete "for teh lulz" kill.

So, prejudice with regard to 'open' play more than confirmed and then some. Needless to say those were my first and last 15 minutes in open ever. If I ever switch to open again then it will only be on a landing pad inside a station to play the mission board but never ever again anywhere in a ship in space. No way, Jose :) .

You play the game your way. I'll play it mine. See you in Solo - or maybe not...

regardless of if i would find that fun or not..... from a purely technical level if FD could pull that off with my 1.5mb per second down and 70kb oer second up (my internet) i would be impressed. If you have a way i suggest you get on that right now and sell the heck out of it.
