Seriously?
In ED, I can go on a bounty-hunting spree, mine, trade, go pirate, be a discoverer, drive around on a planet (and attempt to scan certain data points, hhmpf...

, take passengers to places, help factions gain dominance in a system . . .
. . . what, exactly, can you do in SC? Yeah, it LOOKS pretty, but that's pretty much it. Not very much for five years. Really very, very little. Please don't compare ED and SC like that. Serious backfire, that line of argument.
It's a given that FD will have problems implementing features. That's obvious. No game developer has ever delivered a totally bug-free game. However, FD has, so far, done a really good job of giving us something to sink our teeth into. It's a rib-eye steak, sometimes a bit tougher than anticipated, a wee bit more well-done than I would have preferred, but hey. It's a steak. SC, on the other hand, is, so far, a bone with very little meat on it, and the butcher's claims that it will put ED's rib-eye steak to shame once it matures doesn't fill my belly right now (or any time in the future, from the looks of it).
Sorry about the culinary analogies, I think I'm going to eat something . . . toodles.
I'm not one to defend SC (I got a refund), however, if you think all this in ED is well implemented, then I think, your mistaken. ED can have a lot of imaginary things, ie; transport people, nothing changed from transporting goods, there are no people (NPC, actual characters) in ED. Imagine walking around your ship, having a crew, or just a co-pilot. Opening doors... etc.:O
Pirate & bounty hunter, sort of go hand in hand and as far as I can see, SC will have that, and more or less, have it now. Somebody would pinch my ships before I got to them. I consider them pirates [yesnod], or more to the point, gankers

.. What is the difference.
Driving on planets, well ED's planets are pretty much a joke, when you can't get out and look around because there is no player character (as such). They're not even in the same space (loading screens). We're more a ship in ED, than a person. Plus I believe, that is where FD will find the biggest problem 'scale', when they have to introduce the 'walk around' character, be it player or NPC. Everything changes then, the game will have to bring in proper scale, not imaginary. I want FD to introduce the player character, I would love that. Interact with my ship, have a crew etc.
Factions, there are going to be as many if not more factions in SC, player factions, which is probably 'no good thing' for the game, look at Eve..[where is it]
Don't mistake what SC will be like compared to ED. ED is way less complicated than SC (at the moment), well for me it looks that way (I'm no expert, not even 'amatuer' expert

).
Space Engineers is way more complicated than ED, as are many space games. FD have yet to prove they can do what some other games do already, before we can brag how great ED is (and it is very good).
ED & SC are two very different games, in scale and implementation, if you don't see that, then your not looking.
ED is a great game, I was in early, I love what FD said the game was going to be, eventually. SC will, hopefully for the players that still have all fingers crossed, be a great game, if everything goes to plan. If everything does go to plan, I'll be back in SC too.
But when SC is finished, if it gets there, ED would not compare in any type of way to SC, in its scale, or achievement, to be frank. As they stand now.
In the future that may hopefully change.
Once FD introduce player characters, then I'll take all this back, because I'll be happy playing both, because true scale will be in ED.
For now I can get all this in Space Engineers. Plus its way more hands on in SE. But SC will be like that and more. ED will also be like that, eventually (I hope).
But lets not brag, when the games are so different. Well not until we have all that in ED.
