Alien bases grow - With an important update at Page 4

Has anyone studied the very centre? It looks to me like it might fit a flower ship, like a control centre or a star trek like "saucer section".
Maybe the flower ship visits to the sites are checking progress.

I did a fly-over of a US and to me it looks like there is a doorway at the bottom of the centre structure.
Similar to the inter-leaved doorway at the entrances.

Here is the video I captured: -

So looks to me like something is likely to emerge at some point after the 2.4 update.

With regards to the structures growing I must admit I thought the barnacle sites were growing (more unknown organic structures) but I have no hard evidence.

It's all very exciting and kind of scary at the same time.

When it kicks off I'll be there...hiding in the nearest nebula! :D

1st: protip - holding down UI SELECT button prevents the panels from opening when looking

2nd: its not FTL: Faster Than Light, and they're not Rebels. Nebula won't help! ;-)

I really think that is a mothership rising up. Oh boy this is going to be fun to fight.

Thanks. I'll do that next time. I didn't intend to post the video, just recording in case a Thargoid turned up. I think you can turn off the UI panels popping up when you look at them, but I actually find this useful normally as wearing the headset I tend to not be able to find the keyboard yet alone the right keys!

I installed and set up VoiceAttack today so that should make life easier.

Good point. It'll have to be the sofa then! [where is it]

I've been having a look around the alien base and showing people how to activate the device for a while now and I came back to find it in a solar eclipse... just wow!

During my time driving around and watching the scavenger robots recently. I found that they where taking parts off the structure and fertilizing the ground with it. The liquid looks the same as the stuff they are putting on the eggs. At first I thought maybe the structure and scavengers were terraforming the planet by using the ship as material. If the ship is organic in nature. Then it would just grow back eventually, a bit like a skin graft. But then I found what looks like veins in the sand. It could be an error with the shading but as far as I could see (it was dark) there weren't any graphical issues at the time. There are also vents dotted around the site releasing gas into the atmosphere, which is another reason I think they might be terraforming. Though the vents are awfully small for the scale of the planet, the site is clearly expanding. It could be that the amount/size of the vents will increase with the structure?

Just some food for thought feel free to rip my theory to shreds ( enjoy the pics though ;P ).

Now that's just terrifying... veins. <shudders>

What we're seeing is the process by which Thargoids grow their ships - in the case of these larges "bases" we are seeing the creation of capital ships.
The centre of the base is the "seed", populated with eggs which will hatch once the ships has grown to a certain size to provide the crew.
We know that the Thargoids are able to leech metals and minerals out of the soil with barnacles, so it isn't that much of a leap to say we are seeing the same process on a larger scale create ships.

Looks like they're hatching a nest of Chinese dragons. Maybe this group of "Thargoids" has been to Earth before?

It seems they're capable of "swimming" in solid ground...perhaps this is due to them being partially in another dimension, inhabitants of Witch Space, edging back into our reality to reproduce? I wonder about the ammonia-worlds connection; I guess these dragons would be a kin-species, or pets...although Chinese legends have them as being at least as intelligent as humans. Maybe it's their diplomatic branch, a species that is more understanding of our levels of thought, and thus able to act as intermediaries between humans and...whatever these Thargoids are.

The current sightings are quite different, in appearance and in behavior, from the Thargoids of history. I believe they are a different group entirely, and likely as complex as--or more complex than--human society. They likely have factions, and may have their own pirates and other criminal elements. I'd like to negotiate with them, open trade talks, and see if they'd entertain the notion of data/technology trades. I doubt we have tech they'd be interested in, but perhaps they'd sell us, say, better hyper-drives, in exchange for raw materials, or bounties on specific targets.

I doubt many players have my perspective on reality, so this view may not be popular :)

IMPORTANT UPDATE

My mate who measured the site with me saw this thread and said "man, I took a picture the first time we were there too". So I sent him my pic from yesterday and he did this. (thx Ivan) Now the fact it was 4.000 m and became 4.800 m is somehow less important...

They are not merely excavating or whatever. This thing grows up and changes configuration, skewing the main features (those three giant beasts-insect-ships), rising them up and giving them more details. They've twisted around and grew more "jaws with teeth" and whatnot. Became more muscular and prominent. So once again, this is THE SAME BASE - MEL 22 SECTOR ZU-P C5-1, 4A -63.5266 8.0136. See the changes in 30 days. This is organic.

i can say with certainty that they are changing as i have been to HIP 14909 on 3 separate occasions and it was bigger every time even the teeth like protrusions have grown bigger, something is definitely creepy about it now

Yikes!

I really think that is a mothership rising up. Oh boy this is going to be fun to fight.

Go practice on a spawning capitol ship as this is the most likely thing we'll see: a re-skinned Interdictor or Farragut wearing Thargoids clothing. (Could be something else repurposed but this is the mostly likely result.)

I still think the initial confusion was FDev fleshing things out after deployment... Well the beta should drop on production soon enough, so we will see if there is any new mechanism to those. Of course it would be cool if they were building something and it slowly rose from the ground, but I am a sceptic on that matter. We will see soon enough :)

Here one from the beta in HIP 19026.

Doesn't look particularly different than OA's video from back in June.

Why don't you measure from their nearest obvious geological mark on the surface to the edge of the Alien structure then take images of that area, and do a few around the structure and repeat once every day. This is the most accurate way to measure any growth, if any. So far all the methods being done or mentioned are questionable as mistakes can easily be made with them all.

Hopefully some qualified surveyors will be on site soon to confirm this latest information.

please tell me you HUD colours are a thargoid infection from being inside the petals!!! and not a personal choice. ( I'll stick to my cyan colours I think! )
