The Dead End's Circumnavigation Expedition

Ok.. let's do this

I wanted to stay in the Pleiades for a front seat view of whatever is gonna happen soon with 2.4, but I guess this is way more interesting..

Sign me in. I already requested access to your Discord.. Let's do this :D

CMDR MajWoops
Ship: Beluga Liner
Name: Naughty Narwhal

Cmdr Cybler
Ship: Anaconda
Name: The Narwhal Explorer

Welcome aboard, CMDRs!

This is pure gold, CMDR! Thank you very much.
I've updated the route on EDSM with this info, available if you click the waypoint (#18).

LOL, two Narwhals, both of us registering the same day!

Don't know if you are interested in additional waypoints but I see you've got quite long stretches in the NW quadrant.

First off is a planetary nebula I discovered over 2 years ago, Flyae Proae IN-S E4-1. Remarkable for both being in one of the outer reaches of the galaxy and having a nearby system for good external shots. The PN itself has a couple of landable planets. On the way between Erikson's Star and Blue in the Black.

For something far more unusual, indeed unique, how about a black hole on the very edge of the galaxy? Oedgaf DL-Y g0 allows for some quite dramatic lensing effects which almost make it look like accretion disks have been implemented!

But since you might not want to go out to the galactic rim again, can I suggest as an alternative Gria Bloae YE-A g0 which is also a black hole and should only need a bit of jumponium to get to since it is 500 LY from the very edge. To be honest, you can't really tell any difference in the lensing.

Neither of these black hole systems have any landable planets and they are only just after Blue in the Black so perhaps more a curiosity that the expedition members might like to visit rather than an actual waypoint.

I'd go to those :)
Sadly there aren't too many POIs close to the edge but the reason is quite obvious so I can't complain.

Same here.

I did some investigaton on EDSM on the available mats on the final route. Nothing between jump #5 and #41, but that could be because nobody uploaded any scans.

From jump #41 up to Star One:

I'm currently situated in a J rich system ~2000ly from Star One. I'm restocking on Jumponium after a trip to the edge and after that I'll catalogue and post the systems I come across here.

I would aim for 46ly so theres no surprises. :)

Already got her up to 52 on fumes and I'm not done yet;)

For the roster (CMDR Rojo Habe #67) The ship name will be Cranefly III (that's III as in three, not 111 as in one hundred and eleven); I'll post the jump range when I have a final figure or you can go with 48.99 on a full tank and 52.74 empty. I will improve on that before the off though.

Asp Explorer, btw. Ship's ID is just the default RO-19A allocated by the game but I don't have any nameplates or ID plates so I spose that doesn't matter.

Fair enough. Of all the cartographically important points, the western meridian is almost certainly the hardest to reach. It's kind of strange that most of the "significant" edge systems don't actually require really huge jumps, the prime example being "furthest from Sag A*" which was reached by CMDR Turambar even before we had access to the engineers. If I worked for FDEV I would have made that record the hardest to achieve ;)

FWIW, looking at EDD / EDSM I think that if you had gotten to the western meridian just a few hours earlier you wouldn't have seen my name! It's better that you were a little later since you knew what to tag for yourself :D

Saw your name on one of the stars when I was out there :D. Just mentioning it for other expedition members who have a goal similar to mine: to reach all the furthest meridian points and the furthest North, South, East, and West points.

Yep, that's my goal in this trip. I'll go to all the waypoints no matter where.

Circumnavigation expidition

Greetings all,

I would like to join this expedition, although I may get started sooner rather than later.
