8K 200 degree FOV room scale VR.

I went into normal 8K cos of this "Based on our tests, no obvious difference in VR gaming experiences between 8K and 8K X "

I'm buying into this just for the 200deg FOV alone!
I have a rift and I'm tired of binocular vision!

Me also, the FOV on current models has stopped me buying.... I'm waiting for something like this wow 200. Nice
If U back , do you get a free headset,,, or reduced price version to test

If the get an "Early Bird", basically you get $50 off, there are various options so check it out.

EDIT: You might want to be quick, 2 of the Early Birds have gone and 2 others are over 50% gone. This time tomorrow it will be full price.

Looks cool!

Uh, kind of big - maybe they should look into curved screens?

Something for the future I guess!

Has the tiny field of view on your monitor stopped you buying a monitor? Unless you've got a 65" screen at 3 feet, the field of view in a rift is greater than most peoples monitor/TV...

Z...

Backed as well yesterday evening for the Early Bird 8K Full Package since I am using a Pimax 4k without any additional equipment so far. #245. Quite a bit impatient till begin '18 ;) :D My first Kickstarter ever, and then almost "full" invest... but the risk really is minimal. 8K... 200°... *drool*

SDE of the 5K will be far better than with the Rift. I once tried some 2K VR Googles (3glasses S1 blubur), and the SDE was much less noticeable than with the CV1. The 5K will be something like 2x 2,5K, which is 2,5 times better than CV1. So it probably won't reach the 8K, of course. But it still will be some kind of giant leap forward. Plus the 200°. Personally, I don't think you'll do any mistake in buying / backing the 5K :)

Don't expect that much of an improvement; it's a lot more pixels, yes, but they are spread over a much larger surface. Still worth it IMHO.

There is another thing I keep seeing. They keep mentioning DP1.4 which is fine, but most cards beneath the 1070gtx/Vega only have a DP1.2 connections. People keep asking on the forums whether it will run on DP1.2 but they don't seem to answer. My card only has DP1.2, so not too sure whether it would be compatible and can't find any asnwers.

I would want to know this before pledging.

That's 2.5 over twice the horisontal FOV, so 1.25, and that's if the *per eye* FOV ratio is the same. If the pixel distribution over FOV of the 5k model is more like the Vive than the Rift (more FOV at the cost of detail), the 5k should have an almost identical degree of SDE to the Rift.

I think it will be a bit better. The vertical DPI of the 5k is 1440p as opposed to the OR and Vive which are 1200p. So a slight increase which could be enough to reduce it enough so that you don't really notice it.

Obviously the 8k is better as it is virtually double.
