Or maybe they just get"flooded"with so many requests recently???

I fully expect they've been shelling out refunds since Chris Roberts' latest Hollywood directorial efforts at Gamescom followed by his consequent vanishing trick in a complete sulk to leave his Devs picking up the pieces of the disaster...not to mention recent attempted media hoaxes surrounding refunds.

On a slightly different tack, it seems CiG are dragging the refund of my starter package out a bit....quite strange since they had no hesitation in refunding my original pledge of $300 or so which was accomplished by submitting the initial request, an email from a CiG concierge rep to confirm I wished to proceed and payment a few days later into my Paypal account.

It seems since I bought back in with a starter package, the refund system has changed somewhat and now I've had a fortnight wait, a secondary email asking for my inside leg measurement, my cats preferred rodent food source, the name of my mother's first boyfriend and mention of the involvement of an e-commerce specialist to deal with the final refund.
Maybe they've got a decimal point misplaced a figure or 2 to the right in their books since it's merely for the paltry sum of $45.00 ...no idea, but I'm getting bored now.

You getting bored with it kinda is the objective, I guess...

The refunds department appears to be the hardest working part of CIG, right now.
Poor artists never get any attention.

That's debatable :D

Could be, Sleut...but I can hardly imagine many truly disgruntled backers being put off by such an obvious marketing tactic. Once the decision is made, they're not going to be put off, even for the sum of $45. The folks in general that are cashing out are longer term backers and not casuals who bought in on a whim after a few beers and a curry on a Friday night.

Most of the folks I know personally that cashed out were in for a bit more than a starter package and aren't ones to blindly follow the latest internet trend in panic refunds for any reasoning except their own.
Most of them have, like us, given Chris Roberts all the chances he's going to get...simple as. I really feel for the many talented devs at CiG constantly picking up the mess he created all by himself....but not enough to continue supporting his sheer incompetence and mismanagement of the whole process. Star Citizen is certainly an interesting concept, but no more likely to come to a reality with CR at the the helm than the jpegs of ships CiG are selling they haven't actually produced or even got past a drawing board.

I'm already paying for one dreamers bad habits...but fortunately, I'm that dreamer :)

My refund is delayed too. The breaking point for me was the Eurogamer article. Chris Robert must be arrogant or stupid or both to openly declare that 3.0 is MVP and think he can get away with it. Plus Derek Smart reported the new TOS that would basically end refunds. I really wanted to give SC a chance and hoped to make a final decision after CitizenCon. I suspect a lot of people are like me.

well if you really want your money back you shouldn't wait for another con, especially with that DS 'report'.

As far as I know the ToS change is pure rumour. It was the result of people coming up with all sorts of scenarios for what might happen if 3.0 really was early access, and what if, in a really machiavellian move, CIG changed their ToS to protect against refunds.

They tried it before to no avail, would they really be stupid enough to try it again?

I agree, I think it's doubtful they'll try that move again.

What I can see them wanting to do is call 3.0 the game-gone-gold MVP, thereafter stating the backers have got what they paid for, with a glorious future of updates to come, including actual ships to fly and actual game content. Oh, and no more refunds for anyone, ever.

Buy an Idris.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the whole 3.0 maybe a MVP.

Keep getting told that 2.6.whatever is a pre-alpha. How the hell are they going to suddenly call 3.0 a release? Alpha and beta stages are suddenly not required?

Sorry I keep forgetting that I don't understand game development.

Which to be fair is true.

I also don't understand brain surgery, but I do know that if I need it I don't want the plumber doing it!

Furthermore, based off the non-3.0 we got shown at Gamescom, no way can that even be called an MVP. Half of what they showed even at that point was not coming in 3.0 (eg: faceware - not that is necessary for even a 1.0 release), but then we hear that since then they have been cutting features that are being blocked by bugs.

At this point in time, i don't even think its clear what 3.0 will actually contain, but certainly nothing that will allow it to be called an early access MVP. The media would eviscerate them.

Or maybe Mostly Vanishing Product?
Mass Vanishing Patience, would be my guess.
There's no way in a million years backers will accept 3.0 as an MVP.
Chris is on record, over the years, saying that upon release the game will have a, b and c functionality...and d...and e, f, g, h, I, j, k, l, m, n, o, p, q, r, s, t, u, v, w, x, y...oh and not forgetting z.
-
Compare this to DB and ED....they said absolutely zip about what the MVP release of ED would contain...not even a hint, apart from Beta features etc.
This is where we start seeing all CR's wild promises come back to bite him.
The thing I am intrigued at is which missing feature will fans be most upset about.

Shots fired! :D This one takes a cake.

To be fair, I felt very salty about FD not saying a lot about ED 1.0 and it's MVP nature till just a bit more than month before release. Yes, David then went on explaining MVP and why we will see more additions to the game - and we did. Not all of them hit out of the park, but overall these three years have seen sea of meaty updates - lot of them people just cast aside for no good reason just because they aren't space legs yet.

Still, I prefer way FD reins in on our expectations and communicate close and present features which are actually WIP at FD than anything beyond that. Seems right way to do it.
