That 8k X full package looks nice but I just can't afford. I remember being in same quandary with rift dk1. I regretted not backing.
They already made the Kickstarter. I would love to have backed, but no cash at the moment.
I'm buying into this just for the 200deg FOV alone!
I have a rift and I'm tired of binocular vision!
Me also, the FOV on current models has stopped me buying.... I'm waiting for something like this wow 200. Nice
If U back , do you get a free headset,,, or reduced price version to test
Mhhh, I'm wondering if my 1070 can handle the 5k one...

you don't have to pay right now, payment is after Kick ends
SDE of the 5K will be far better than with the Rift. I once tried some 2K VR Googles (3glasses S1 blubur), and the SDE was much less noticeable than with the CV1. The 5K will be something like 2x 2,5K, which is 2,5 times better than CV1. So it probably won't reach the 8K, of course. But it still will be some kind of giant leap forward. Plus the 200°. Personally, I don't think you'll do any mistake in buying / backing the 5K![]()
That's 2.5 over twice the horisontal FOV, so 1.25, and that's if the *per eye* FOV ratio is the same. If the pixel distribution over FOV of the 5k model is more like the Vive than the Rift (more FOV at the cost of detail), the 5k should have an almost identical degree of SDE to the Rift.
