PvP Fuel Corgi gets got 65k LY from bubble - SDC Special

Disgusting. If that's the official stance then I'm done with this place. The point of this "PvP" wasn't to show who is more skilled. The point was to make the person on the other end as angry as possible. And the point of posting the video in this forum is to do the same. If you can't see the problem with that, then I feel sorry for you.

I can't support a company that condones this kind of disgusting behavior. I'll move on to other games. I'm under no illusion that FDEV cares about one person that will no longer support them, but I feel that every individual has a personal responsibility to stand up for what is right.

The official forums, much like Elite Dangerous itself, is slanted in favor of the griefers over the victims. Has been for years. If a victim posts a video of them being ganked the thread is often locked and the poster often reprimanded for "naming and shaming". I know because it's happened to me. However, when a ganker posts a video of them griefing someone, for example this thread, it's usually left open with little to no moderator action taken at all.

For some reason griefing the unarmed and unexpected is viewed as okay in both the game and the forums, yet posting about getting ganked is not permitted. I don't know why it's lopsided the way it is, but the slant is apparent nontheless. And yeah, certain posts in this thread only serve to reinforce that stance, but I won't name anyone in particular for fear of receiving another ban over the issue.

Your post is on point though, and I agree with your sentiment.

They're the Villain the Evil we need.
Not so. Pirates are the proper villains. The trick FD wasted was neglecting to make piracy interesting. Unfortunately it meant the departure of the Code (as it used to be). And this isn't some reversal of attitudes, as the Code can testify I always enjoyed them in game and in forum banter. If they would have had their rightful place in the Elite galaxy being holed up in Anarchy systems and striking out from there, we might have had proper villains today.

SDC when in groupthink are pranksters with out of game motivators. They are Irritants.

They make us "waste" our precious 21th century time in such lengthy threads in the forums, because WE ALL LOVE THIS GAME.
I don't need incentives to waste time. I do this unprovoked :)

Hang on, is that right?
If the loser posts the vid, it would be name & shame, but if the victor posts, it's not name & shame?
Someone tell me that's not correct, because I see no difference in "loser ganked me", or "git gud loser".

So, you're ok with someone engaging in activities that aim to deliberately waste other people's time and grief them. And you are supposed to be a moderator? Good grief...

Dear Herbrand,

you might want to get a clear line in your mind between 'The Game' and 'The Forum'.

Moderators are FORUM moderators and PLAYERS of the game. Not the other way around.

It makes sense, if you think about it for a bit. If a victim posts it, it's almost certainly meant to direct anger at the aggressor and serves the purpose of a witch hunt, which is against the rules. If the aggressor posts the video, they're looking for the hate, so why not provide it?

Except that is not why the aggressors make their posts, and their true reasons (and Frontier's allowance of it) are the crux of the entire toxicity problem in Elite's community today.

And still they cry how the evil moderators are biased against them. Bless them.

And imagine my surprise when all of their little fanboys are now praising the moderators. I have to give credit and hand it to this thread, the irony is 24 karat :)

Well done boys. I take my hat off to you. [no sarcasm. I am genuinely impressed.]

Well, you done it now, Jenner, old-boy. You gone and said something rational, and now the mob has turned against you...

I honestly agree with Ziggy. It's blindfully obvious that the post tries to create as much salt and anger as it could. SDC are good at that, look at their dislike buttons.

Gotcha and a (rather deeply buried) part of my subconscious screams when I see this kind of stuff. This mini-me hungers for justice. It screams, "crime! Horror! Let's fight it!"

SDC ways of going about problems in ED are outlandish, cheesy, overreacting. Sometimes I really dislike them just like you and Fox and Ziggy and Mods and half the PvPers and…

But we can't deny. They're inside the game's rules restrictions. They're content providers. They move (a bit) the engines of ED. They bring new things. They're the same as Alex Bretnall, if diametrally opposed in ideology, they still move the game up the same way. They're the Villain the Evil we need. They make us "waste" our precious 21th century time in such lengthy threads in the forums, because WE ALL LOVE THIS GAME. We all are more than happy to be psychologically sabotaged into posting here, about internet pixels, about game drama.

And there's the value in it. Hating them / pittying them as we can / should, they are already an undeniable part of what ED is made of. I've posted some comments above about how I don't agree with Fuel rescuers' reason to exist, that I'm against them helping careless explorers who should lose their ships to fuel starving anyway. But I was being a hypocrite. Fuel rescuers are content providers. They role play. They, too, make this game great.

I'm a bit drunk but I just want to get the bigger picture. Conflict, antagonism, friendship, epicness. FDev has given us the tools to make up unforgettable stories ourselves. Let's try and engage more as a community of opposites and friends. Let's make our time more valuable, even if a few times it means "losing" time used gathering explo data and trading. There must be ways for us to grow up as spacers, with all differences, villains, good guys, forum sarcasm-mongers, and such.

I love all of you people. It's a game… I'm actually crying now.

Sure it is allowed in game so the best I can do is to persuade them to not do it, which I know I won't.
The issue here is that it was posted in the forums, some of us think it violates one forum rule.

The toxicity problem is that some people just cannot accept that others have a different playstyle and seek to badger them with accusations and psychoanalysis. Take a look at almost any page in this thread and you'll see someone that's salty about another person's playstyle hurling insults at OP or another PvPer.

The problem isn't us. We aren't the ones that stretched this throwaway thread out to 25 pages.

Thanks for taking the time to answer me.
I've seen some of your (not so) older posts and you can do it. Be better.

Both scenarios create anger and discomfort. I don't think it matters whether the OP wants it or not.
