This right here is why people put quote marks around the word scientists when they talk about us.

It's dirty work, but someone has to do it!

Looking at the commodities on eddb, I do not see anything besides political prisoners/hostages/dissidents that would jump out as an option for Thargoids. Though there may be some less overt things they're interested in.

I was out tonight trying to rescue a few Escape Pods. The first thing I thought of when I saw them taking humans... Maybe a revenge virus?

Also, a quick question regarding Barnacle sites. Out on Merope 5c, I'm seeing a green, glowing, bubbly liquid oozing out of the bases of the barnacle center and spires. The ground is cracking open around them. Was this effect happening pre-2.4?

EDIT 2: Oh, I forgot to mention... While out observing this, I put an SRV wheel in the green stuff. I didn't see any corrosive, or otherwise damaging results. This barnacle was intact, and I did not damage it.

EDIT: Screenshot of green goo:

I'm pretty sure that's new.

Do 'damaged escape pods' contain still living people? If not I suspect they dobt need living humans and its more about biology/anatomy...

It´s late to keep editing video. But I got scared as hell when I found a Thargoid abducting escape pods!

Anyway, I´ve been doing my homework with the Thargoids. HEre you have, CAnonn Research!

Maybe bring a tissue sample to it, or the thargoid bases?

I streamed yesterday when I started playing. Here's the video with most of the interesting parts highlighted in the description (just click the times in the description to jump to them).

Well a Manifest and KWS scan just comes back as "Scan error, unable to understand scan data"

Hopefully Parity Project AG 0002 is the answer

My experience so far. I started in MEL sector 22 on a known active site. I didn't see any noticeable change. I can't say if it has grown as I took a little holiday away from the game from august till yesterday. I didn't complete the map cycle as I didn't have a UP. So no testing the thargoids visitor in this scenario. I did pick up a biological sample or two and decided to head to Maia. En route on my last jump 16.1 LY from destination, I got hyperdicted. The scenario has somewhat changed. I saw the EMP effect but I did not face the thargoids. It stayed behind me. It made I think a new noise, one that sounded annoyed. Could have been to do with my cargo. Before getting hyperdicted, I explored two non human USS. One was totally empty ( it must have failed to instance) and one was an imperial aftermath battle. No thargoids during these scenarios. But I picked up scientific samples and escape pods. One was damaged. Going back to my hyperdicted scenario, I decided to face the thargoid. By turning I got under 500 metres from him. He turned red and his little targons deployed. I didn't try to fight him and I ran away. They don't seem to want to pursue you. That is all for the moment.

Hmm the Thargoid didn't mind me taking the tactical data from under his nose. Not sure if it was the prototype tech, scientific data or the encrypted correspondence that ticked her off.
