Thargoid Interceptor needs a Buff VS Wing

I really wouldn't buff them. They are pretty hard to kill. They bypass shields, they fly very fast and can easily turn in all directions whatsoever without much trouble.

Not only that, they have several devastating attacks. First one is "missile", aka few thargons go kamikaze style into your ship, That deals hefty amount of damage. Next one is kamikaze barrage, same as previous but deadlier. Next one is "Infinite power" like, a huge yellow lightnings which screw up all your systems and (probably) deplete your shields in an instant - this one is not used until you shoot off one of it's hearts.

And final is just huge EMP pulse - it does what it does, all your wing (if caught by surprise, like it happened to me and my wing hour ago) will be immobilized, for 20 seconds.

And thargon swarm, like holy hell. They deal tons of damage, no matter of your shields.

Dunno why are you asking for buff...

Hence it's a test of skill, which is surely what people want rather than just zerging it with missiles?

No its not a test of skill normal weapons dont damage it that much anyway by the time your normal weapons have done enough damage your out of ammo and his sheilds are up

Tbh it feels more like a test of ammo and ship. Baby ships won't do this very well.

Edit that sounded wrong, yes skill is part of it too, of course.

So you can only carry four missile pods, and they have limited, non-replenishable ammo? So basically the deciding factor on whether or not solo players can kill a Thargoid is purly an ammo limit. Can they be engineered?

People. Never happy. Killed one = too easy. I'd like to see a wing take out a Cyclops with zero engineered weapons. Bet that won't be 'too easy' ...

If the guys from SDC say that the difficulty is right, I'm inclined to believe it is challenging enough.

It's not as easy peasy as most seem to think based on a 6 second video. Killing a ghoid is a lengthy multi step process.

I have finally managed to get away from the game after 4 thrilling fights with out new overlords and I can tell you right now that this is by far the best update we could of had! below I will detail how to defeat a Thargoid and SDC will be putting out a guide on how to do it too in the form of a video.

How to beat a bug:

1. Scan the Thargoid.
2. Shoot the Thargoid with AX Missile on the petal you want to attack.
3. Use normal weapons to attack the "Heart"(Red glowing thing)
3b. If the Thargoid closes the "Heart" go to step 2.
4. Once all "Hearts are destroyed use the AX Missiles to destroy the Thargoid.

The current Thargoids have 4 "Hearts", once its down to one or two it will begin using an EMP attack and a yellow lightning attack, these will disable your ship.

I know some people dont like to hear this but maybe it was designed to only be killable by multiple people? At least at this stage. We are only at day 1 of fighting thargoids. They are going to start sending bigger and badder ships at us, and in turn we are going to need bigger and badder weapons. I imagine as time goes on our 1v1 chances of survival will continue to go up.

With these being the first encounters, it'll take time for word to get back that we can destroy them and then they will start bringing out the bigger guns. Patience

Take time? These are beings who live in a dimension and can instantly rip a hole in space and go in to there dimension. I think the big goids upstairs already know about it. Just gotta wait for FD to push the button

...
If I had 2 more of me we could do it is what I'm trying to say lol. I guess thats why FD limit the new weapons to 4 per CMDR.

Haha well it seems that some CMDRs are more average than others ^^

After a little toe-to-tharg by myself im quite happy about the Interceptor(!) not being a unkillable murdermachine so even the not-so-combat-focused-folks like me can stand a chance against it*

For me "Combat" meant either i could add stronger shields and some extra dakka to my ExploConda and head to the next RES to farm NPCs or Metarngrind like forever and try to engage in some PVP stuff... but now there is something different, a tradeoff if you like.

I dont need a G5-Meta-Combatship** but should invest some time and research in a propper loadout and some mods.
I dont need to become Wedge Antilles to stand a chance, Jek Porkins is fine, but damn, i realy need to learn a few things*** to git gud inugh.
I dont need a permanent Wing and flight training twice a week but neither I nor the dudes in the Wing should be too drunken****

And i feel realy encouraged to do so because fighting these things seems to be a quite challenging hell of fun instead of mindless pewpew or getting roflstomped all day.
Sure, thats just a total subjective case of "in my opinion" but none the less:

TL/DR - I LIKE THE INTERCEPTOR

*In a Wing...after some horrible beatings...barely
**No offence, just dunno how you crazy PVP folks call it corectly... FDL i guess ;)
*** Like: "How to hold it"
****...i guess...maybe...ähhh...*burb*...nervermind

I think as it stands its fine right now.
Its not a warship , but a simple interceptor.

So its the Thargoid version of the Eagle...

What I hope to see however for wings is USSs and maybe even areas of space (like Thargoid space) that will contain nearly impossible content.

I think what elite needs is range.
FDev seem to like things to be 0 or 11 with nothing inbetween. but I dont see the issue with having 0 all the way to 20 but keeping the inbetween levels. if that makes any sense.

Just remember this could turn into an arms race with the thargoids realising we now can hurt them so developing new tech themselves to reduce the effectiveness of our weapons.

I think it would be fun if there is a month or so of the current shenanigans going on and then the thargoids get serious and start showing us what they can really do.

They could for example produce better anti missile defences, improved emp pulse, heart shielding etc.
