What teensy tiny things would you like to see changed in ED?

Something to distinguish already-visited but 'undiscovered' systems from truely undiscovered systems.

If another CMDR has been to a system, let alone a few dozen or a thousand, and/or is an *inhabited system*, it is NOT an "Undiscovered" system, Frontier....

Of all the things in Elite that Just Do Not Make Sense, that is my pet peeve.

Call them 'uncharted' or 'unscanned' or whatever *does* make sense, just no more calling it "undiscovered" when it's very clearly been discovered many times over.

Sell cargo from inventory screen
Plot course to the engineer base from the engineer screen - not just their system.
View detailed scan results from planet view, not just the system view
Set max data limits for each kind of data
Set max material limit for each kind of material
View all engineer blueprints from the engineer screen wherever you are, not just the pinned one
Some indication of when a KWS has been done on a ship already
The ability to instruct the crew pilot to KWS the targeted ship when I am in a fighter

Maybe not teensy tiny, but I would like to see CGs that are asking for materials, not cargo, bounties or bonds. I enjoy prospecting on planets, but don't need materials so much now I have my ships engineered.

Besides playing as an explorer, I also play as a survivalist.

Would like the option to pay off my 5 insurance claims I got back in 3301. Just vanity and obsession on my part, really, but all the same.

With that though, upon losing a ship, I would like the option to pay for its replacement in full instead of taking the insurance. The game seems rather easy to me in general, at least for someone who plays as I do, not carelessly throwing away ships and the like, and this would add a more "hardcore" element to it, even if all it amounts to is the chance of losing a few more credits for cosmetic UI placation.

It seems rather unlikely we'll be getting an actual hardcore/ironman mode at this point.

I would like the controls menu to allow for more "activate on hold" options like you have for silent running so that I could easily use my Warthog Throttle switches for something.

I would also like the vertical thrust axis to be possible to split into two axis instead of one centred one, so that I could easily use my rudder pedals for thrust up and down.

Oh and entirely rethink the engineers, but that probably doesn't go under a little thing ;)

On a long trip to a station >10,000ls - I'd like to be able to see a "distance to target" text value in the top right corner of whatever it is I'm doing; eg: GalMap, GalNet etc.
This counts down as I travel, enabling me to read GalNet whilst keeping an eye on my distance.

Side addition: More things to read in GalNet .. perhaps expand on GalNet to include an encyclopedia of the game; with histories and perhaps short stories, etc.

I would love that when landing on a darkisde of a planet for it actually to remain dark. I crave approaching in pitch black - properly using the radar to navigate and seeing the twinkling lights of the base appear in the distance, landing in the dark. Awesome. Ship lights would actually need to be used, maybe even open up the possible to engineer them for higher intensity (or dare i say it - sell coloured ship lights on the store!). Want want want.

I would like a rear stearing srv. and I wish when it said slow down and you did you would not go ripping past your destination.

One thing always bugs me in Community Goal missions is they don't have an "Open Galaxy Map" option to easily locate them, like all other missions do.

I'd really like it if traveling toward another stellar system in supercruise reduced the jump range and fuel consumption needed to reach it accordingly.

This would open up more possibilities and ways of going about exploring and getting to interesting and hard to reach systems, at least for those willing to invest the time needed in doing so.

I mean, other than just being able to supercuise all the way there, of course. Though I could see that causing issues with permit locked systems and the like.

I wish it were possible to supercruise between systems too. Just because it makes no sense that you can't. For permit systems, could just force the ship out of supercruise at the edge of the system (if player doesn't have the permit).

Of course, if FD were to implement this, it would probably be used by a handful of people, and even then only to see if it works. :D So, I can see that it might not really be worth spending any development time on. Mind you - people do still fly out to Hutton Orbital, so maybe there could be more demand for it.

1) I'd love to be able to set to lef tand right lateral thrusters one axis each.

As it is now I use the axis of my rudder pedals toe brakes as they were digital input (On/Off) instead of an analogic response.

2) A third Fire button for a third fire group

3) An indicator for headlights On/Off.

UI

• Ability to plot route to mission destination directly from ship panel
• Access bookmarks (and plot route to them) directly from ship panel
• Allow "opening" a destination in the ship nav panel, to show same info as in system/galaxy map
• Show all mission info (that is available at the station) in ship panel
• Show mission destination in the mission list in ship panel (i.e., without having to open it)

Controls

• Allow binding any "on/off" control to either toggle or hold (e.g., landing gear hold)
• Allow binding two different axis to any dual control axis (e.g., yaw left and yaw right on gamepad triggers, or thrust forward/backward on rudder toe brakes)

Miscellaneous

• Ability to "drop" a waypoint marker at current location, settable as nav destination
• Remove the "SLOW DOWN" warning (or reimplement in a way that actually has some use)
• Allow discarding material/cargo rewards when turning in a mission

The only teeeeensy tiny thing I can think of is to.. uhh, push the button on the server that activates space legs. It's only a push of a button right? :)

It's not so much of a tiny thing, it's more of a major brain torture which prevents my using one... Well I had one when they first came out, then had to sell it as it was driving my ODC brain into mental hyperdrive.

The FDL cockpit.

Someone has to send the whole lot back to Zorgon Peterson so they can centralise the goddam pilot seat. Just being slightly to one side drives me nuts. Either that or take the struts out of the window frame and make it one large curved screen...

Please. For my sanity.
